Thank-you SO much for so openly sharing how you do this. It really opens up a way for beginners to try new hobbies, especially when so many people are so “secretive” with their skills. It’s nice to see people showing other people how to have fun and try new things 🙂
I find it a lot easier to do each thing in a different layer because I mess up a lot lol that way I can erase things and not ruin other parts. Skin in one layer, clothes in another and hair in another. Yours turned out great
@@StrictlyKendra it would be some good information to go add at the beginning of your video right now, it would be nice to have a little caption pop up that mentions the individual layering tip. It is a game changer. I struggled without it.

I have watched SO many tutorials for this. I was struggling before, but your video totally clicked! I've already done 2 drawings with great results. These would have taken so long before and wouldn't have looked as good. THANK YOU!

This was great to watch you do this. I wasn't sure how other people did these types of illustrations. I have done these as well. But it was great to see your process and what details you chose and even your method of shadows and colors etc. Loved it. Had some helpful spots for me to think about. Thanks for sharing!
@@StrictlyKendra hi, thanks for detailed tutorial. I have few questions... Im an android person but want to use iPad for digital art and need more detail on the version of iPad ur using, its size and apple pencil version or Model how ever u say? If u can add link to exact link of equipments that would be great. Thanks 👍
I was hoping for a more thorough tutorial actually. I'm entirely new to procreate and I figured the basics out that are mentioned in this video, but when do I add layers? What brushes are you using (if more than monoline)? And how do I make it so that I can erase the way you did when drawing stripes on your shirt and not have it affect other layers? I know to use a different layer but to have it just draw under other layers is what I can't figure out. Thanks for the tutorial but answers would be appreciated :)
Hom long do these usually take? I'm thinking of doing digital illustrations too, because they look so much fun, but I'm scared they're gonna take a long time and I'm gonna get bored after a while...I do quotes and lettering myself right now, and they usually take me about an hour to two hours😅😊
I noticed that this was done in July. Not certain if you've discovered a way to get better detail with hair BUT the studio pen with a fine brush size and smudge tool is great to get realistic strands and full heads of hair. Thing is though...it's very time consuming and you definitely want to work in layers. But other than that....I like your work.
Amazing work! I was just wondering if you have a screen cover/ protector which changes the screen texture if that makes sense? Like the ones that make it feel like paper? Thank you!

I'm not actually sure! I've seen people do it on tik tok but I haven't gotten around to doing it. I think it might have something to do with the canvas DPI?
Have you ever tried the color fill & it wouldn’t allow you and said “previous color” ... if so how do you fix that? I’m trying to sketch a photo and even got like shapes & etc it’s doing it
Oh weird I have not had that issue! Are there any updates to the app you need to do? Or possibly something weird going on in the settings for your pens? I hope you’re able to fix it!!
My iPad while using procreate my hand hits the screen and will undo what i did in the stroke. How do i turn that off or what can i do? I just started using it
How would you save this? I made a great first portrait and I tried saving it to my photos and it’s gone 🤪😂 I just got my iPad 2 days ago and I’m such a noob lol
I love you video, but anytime I try to use the drop feature thing on a face the color just lightly goes on the whole picture. Do you have any tips to fix this?
When you “drop” the colour, don’t let go straight away. You’ll see it pop up along the top saying “colour drop threshold” you can then slide left and right (similar to when you’re changing opacity) and it should reduce how harsh it drops the colour. Hope that made sense.
When I try to drag and drop to fill in color it pretty much feels in the entire picture are we supposed to be putting each of these elements on different layers?
Hi, I loved your video, it's amazing. I saw many people are using Studio Pen brush, I have searched on internet, do you mind to tell me how to get this brush, paid or free? thanks.
Try color matching every little difference in the shades on the clothes. It takes a while but when you're done and zoom out it makes a lot of difference!
You have to make sure the lines (of the area you're outlining) are completley connected/closed, if you leave even a small gap it would color the whole photo

What’s the setting you have to the picture isn’t blurry when you zoom in?
I'm not actually sure! I've seen people do it on tik tok but I haven't gotten around to doing it. I think it might have something to do with the canvas DPI?
@@StrictlyKendra thanks! I “sorta” fixed it by changing the dpi so it’s not as blurry but it’s not perfectly clear either 😭
How do you make that a sticker ? How would you add the white around.
I would recommend adding a layer underneath the picture so when you outline it, the white goes behind the illustration if that makes sense!

You can go into the control settings for procreate to customize the tap settings (i.e. one tap for erase, or double tap). I hope that helps!
hi:)that‘s so good. what brush you used?
I used "studio pen" for everything except the detail for my romper! That one was the "thylacine" under the inking tab in procreate!
How do you make the background one solid color? What layer?
I just dragged the color behind all of the illustration layers so it fills in behind!

Hello! I use the 12 inch iPad pro!
How would you save this? I made a great first portrait and I tried saving it to my photos and it’s gone 🤪😂 I just got my iPad 2 days ago and I’m such a noob lol

@@amberfaith3028 yours made sense but I don’t think mine did. That doesn’t show up it like tints that entire picture
@@amberfaith3028 actually I’m sorry I figured it out
The striped pen is Tylacine, under Inking in the Brush Library.
Hi. Did you make another layer on photo or u did it on photo
Is there a setting you need to press for color fill? My color keeps filling the whole layer
You need to make sure that you close the lines of the area you want to fill :)
Hi what brush did you use? Thank you!!
Monoline and studio pen mainly!
Can I use my iPad mini for this or does it have to be the iPad Pro?
It can be any iPad :)
What tablet are you using? Do you need internet to use the program?
iPad pro 12 inch! No, once you've downloaded it you don't need internet to use it!
What brush did you use for the shirt details?
Studio pen!
what brush do you use?
Yours Truly Janey I think it’s the mono line brush
I use the studio pen and monoline!
What pencil or tool are you using for procreate?
I use the studio pen and the monoline for these!
It won’t let me drop the colour in when I outline it. It just says continue filling with recolour?
Make sure there are no gaps in the outline! It helps to zoom in really close to double check. Also make sure you're on the same layer!
When I try to drag and drop to fill in color it pretty much feels in the entire picture are we supposed to be putting each of these elements on different layers?
You have to make sure the shape you’re filling in is a ‘closed’ shape, otherwise the color will bleed out into other areas. I hope that makes sense
hello can you tell me how to fill colors? Thanks very much!
Once you have a solid shape, drag the color circle in the upper right hand corner into the shape!
Which iPad is the best for this?
Can someone tell me how did she put the green background please
You can just fill a layer and place it behind all the other layers as the background
Hi! What canvas size do you use?
I use A4 usually!

The studio pen comes with procreate! It’s definitely one of my favorites. Thank you for watching!
My iPad makes me tone the whole painting when I try to drop my couloir in a specific place. Is that because I haven’t filled the line fully?
I think so... I'm new to it as well, but it works better if you have layer or alpha lock it and drop colors in
Yea you have to make sure where you’re dropping the color is fully closed in
