Ryan, I have LITTLE doubt, of all the things you have done and continue to do, all of which truly impress me, near the TOP of that list is your ability to always have an appetite for....burritos!! Yeah buddy. Keep up the gastric bliss!!
Very impressive...did Phantom ranch twice once maybe 16 years old and last late 40's...so great. We stayed an extra day last trip purposely...shocked to see 6+ folks in serious trouble on a plan to hike out...they said out by 7am or you are in trouble. 9am and they were just standing around seemingly giving up. Extra day gave us the chance to go visit Ribbon Falls. Had it to ourselves for 30+ minutes..so great How you went end to end in a day...whole crap...that is really rare stuff,
you probably dont care but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Ralph Jagger i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Gorgeous scenery! My husband did your rim 2 rim 2 rim run 20 years ago and again 8 years ago while I did south rim to Phantom Ranch, then took a long siesta with my feet up on a fat cottonwood trunk in its shade. Loved the Snickers bar at Phantom Ranch! I had to start back up the south side before he made it back to Phantom Ranch, darn that was worry point one but mostly expected. Then he didn't catch up with me before I summited back to south rim, darn that was worry point two. Then I ate dinner alone without him, that was worry point three. At what point do I call the rangers, and they say R2R2R is a no-no, so ouch at what point do you cry uncle, starting to get antsy. I got cleaned up, rearranged the tent, sun went down, and here he comes rolling into camp yay! I was never so happy to see him as that day!!! Thanks for your beautiful video so I could see what his north rim journey entailed.
God you make this look so easy! I just hiked R2R2R over 2 days and I was beaten up by the end. I remember a bunch of trail runners passing me on my hike and I just thought "You'd have to be insane to RUN R2R!", and here you are doing R2R2R running! Massive props to you! Guess I'll have to add that to my bucket list
I can’t even fathom the physical shape you’re in man. This is unbelievable. I’m sitting here planning out a rim to rim regular old hike and seeing this is just insanity. Good for you
Awesome!! This run at the top of my wish list. When I do it, I want to have the same enthusiasm, joy and appreciation you show in your video. Thanks for sharing!
Love, Love this video! I live approximately 100 miles from the Grand Canyon and I have never been there. This video is motivating me to get off the couch! Ryan, you're awesome!
AMAZING! I have been watching videos of folks hiking R @ R North to South and feeling like I could do it but you all are just incredible!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring
Ryan- thanks for making this. Several years ago I watched this video while doing a lazy treadmill run in a gym. This was one of those videos that the treadmill offered me to “run along with...” as a way to mask the monotony of the treadmill experience. Your video got me pumped and reignited my interest in running. Thanks! I’ve since set a few new marathon and ultra PR and continue to lean on your own adventures and videos for inspiration and motivation. Please keep exploring and creating! The R2R2R is on my bucket list. I’ll let you know when I check the box.
Ryan, just came across this video. My friend and I have done Half Dome and were planning on doing a day hike from North Rim to the South Rim this fall. Honestly, we are a little nervous as although the elevation gain/ loss is similar to Half Dome, this hike is a few miles longer. The fact you not only did a round trip from SR to NR, but ran the entire way, is so inspirational. We are just in shock that you can achieve something like this - congrats. Stoked about our 'little' fall hike now.
The “Little Engine That Could” is my favorite book of all time! I happen to be almost 63 years old. Keep up the adventures. Trying to organize a group to ride the 2020 RAGBRAI! Looks like a blast.
Phenomenal achievement! And what a great job editing this and pacing the storytelling. It was such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing your talent and hard work with the world!
R2R2R is on the calendar for may when it opens, so I've been binging videos. I'm petrified by heights and its nice to see what I'm in for! Looks like a fun day!
Enjoyed your video so much- we are doing this next week but staying the night at the north and back to the south rim about the next morning at 02. Thanks for sharing ..
Thanks for another journey into the pain cave. Epic views and contagious optimism. Oh and Vaseline is a must have, you guy's crack me up. Stay fit, stay focused, and stay in the fun zone!
great adventure. I am just looking at doing this in maybe 2 weeks, how do you think the weather be like for end of October? is trail easy to follow? I am thinking of a trail run adventure, maybe doing it all in one day, end to end? recommend?
Loved the video! Highly entertaining; you even keep your humor when you're in the Pain Cave! From a former Ironman P.S. this is much harder, can't ever see running more than 26 miles!
I enjoyed your video very much. I just completed the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro--but we didn't run; we walked. I'd be afraid I might trip and fall to my death if I ran down the Grand Canyon. Yet I want to "walk" from rim to rim. What brand and model of shoe did you and your friend wear? I've tried various types of boots and trail running shoes and I'm still looking. If other readers can help, please let me know.
this is a 4 year old video.. but i must comment. i just ran south kaibab trail down and up last month. i am not in the best running shape at the moment, but even that little bit that i did, was brutal. i wish i could do the r2r2r... maybe someday.
ouch ouch ouch!!. i cant even fathom 43 miles on flatland. u guys are incredible!!.... i felt like Jack Sparrow when u guys reached phantom ranch..... why is the rachael gone?
This was an awesome video! Great job. Where did you guys camp? I’m getting ready to do this in 2months, I’m interested in your setup as far as accommodation the night before? Thank you for continuing to be an inspiration.
Hey Ryan, got a question for you. If im looking to shoot usable video while running that i can later edit and use when i run on the treadmill, what gear would be ideal to use so that the footage is steady? Head cam, hand cam, stabilizers? thanks
HI there! I use the Sony action cam. Of all the small cameras on the market, it has the best image stabilization. You can also use a little selfie stick to act as a steady cam...it's hard to get super steady footage while running though, so just experiment...or just learn how to hover :)
Hey Ryan, where did you guys park at for the South Kaibob? It says you have to shuttle in, but it looks like there is some parking on the main road 0.5 miles away.
I’m sorry! I can’t believe I didn’t word it appropriately. How long did you take to do both RIMS? If you were not stopping to record, how long do you think it have taken you to do the 48 miles? Thank you for your reply!
How's the trail is it pretty safe I don't like heights but I like walking man for running it really got to be in good shape you're one tough guy go USA really like your video
