I had a fellow australian ask me for a ciggy at oats St station whilst waiting for the midnight (last) train.
I said no I had none, I was also hangin. They came back 10 mins later with 2 darts they had scabbed off someone else and gave me one, even let me use their lighter.

That's pretty wholesome. Had a similar situation in Redfern - Aboriginal woman was standing in the train station, asking everyone who walked past for ciggies. She asked me, I said "I wish I did", then saw how much I looked like hell that day, and offered me a Rollie from her pouch.

Back in 2006 I was sheltering from the rain in Ascot Park train station. There happened to be a deli made ham and cheese sandwich sitting on the bench. Butchers paper carefully unfolded and the top bread removed and placed next to it.

Hoppers crossins station has a tiny shop there where some unit yeeted the back door on to the track leaving drinks scattered everywhere.

I like that stretch when I have to venture out to Berwick, come back late enough so the train is pretty much empty and it seems many bored drivers like the chance to see what this baby can do.
@@willpeden6055 some do. However if you happen to come into town on the Glen Waverley line and work near it you get to wave to work then go to Richmond and wait for the planets to align for the correct train outbound.

I was going to defend Oats Street. Then I remembered that time I was there after school and a meth head jumped off the platform, picked up some coins, waved down the train that was laying its horn down at him and flipped off the transit guards. All while being shirtless, in QuickSilver 3/4 shorts, hat backwards and speed dealers on. True culture.
Typical Perth meth heads. I never really took the train south of the river so never saw much of this. Worst I got was some deros asking for ciggies at joondalup.
It's a great station to witness someone jump in front of a train at. Or just move up a bit to Seaforth or Challis

Okay, but Sandgate Station in Newcastle has a great one:
"Sandgate station is surrounded by the cemetery, highway overpass and the swamp. It is not convenient to anything and the lengthy platforms are rarely used by anyone. Some trains do stop here but rarely for any purpose. Useless, pointless, wasteful, boring, ugly and lonely are all suitable descriptions for this completely unremarkable transport facility.", Two Stars.

Well, it is convenient to the cemetery and the “Nauti and Nice” sex shop where my friend used to work and occasionally get robbed at knife or gunpoint.
Oi fucken, Sandgate is mad, i finger bashed my first ex missus there once brus and also found a 3/4 full longneck of woodstock 8/10 just sayin.
Sandgate Station services a Cemetery, a few industrial buildings, a wetlands visitors centre, and a brothel. Due to the station layout it takes 30 minutes just to get off it. Why trains stop there? Who knows

I was at Beenleigh train station and a man was pinned down right in front of me by police. He was calling them every name under the sun. He turns to me and eyes meet and he calms down and says "hey, sis you got a light and a cig? I need one aye." I reply nah then he continues to resist arrested and yell and scream 😂 😂

The Nambour station is very accurate. The only time I went there I watched a car swerve into the tracks through the gates and onto the tracks. This was then followed by a group of junkies trying to fight the guy next to me on the hour train ride home. True story, circa late 2017
use to have to catch a train at every friday night to Nambour station, every time i'd be having to pay full attention and every time i'd get asked for a durry or yandi. had one guy fight me at the maccas nearby with all his mates nearby to help him out. bunch of pussies anyway ahaha
I used to travel to Frankston station at least 4 times a week back in 2011. Horrific experience that was only made better by the fact that the express train was abbreviated to "Fkn express"

Made_In_Heaven88 the only time you ever get on/off a t4 train at erskineville is when the t3 is knocked out, it is just plopped into use when there is a problem.
The last time I was at dandenong station my visit involved:
- Numerous school aged teenagers running around between platforms and being a pretty loud noise disturbance.
- A 40 year old man with high levels of skuxness, verbally assaulted me.
- Two 12 year old girls being detained by around ten or so, PSO’s and Police officers. One them also managed to get out of their cuffs to show off to the previously mentioned teenagers.
This all happened in about 20 minutes..
I was one of those teenagers running between platforms

I used to wake up on the night rider bus at dandenong station on a pretty regular basis after passing out and missing my stop. It inevitably ended with me running from a bunch of dudes hassling me for cigarettes and enquiring as to whether I wanted to be stabbed or not. One time the bus driver woke me up at the station, looked me in the eye and just said 'Good luck mate' as he motioned for me to exit the bus.
Went to Dandenong station once, had to wait the bus terminal for 30 minutes, had about 5 families of five ask me for directions or spare change, made conversation with some poor chick with stalagmites growing out of her neck and heard gunfire and cop sirens. Shocking public toilets there too. Great day out, would 100% go again.

My station is Dandy, I’ve never once dared to go to the toilets
Once at gosford station at about 1am, I watched 2 bald men try and fight it each other but it was wet on the tiles and so one slipped. He fell to the ground and the other man didn't say a word, then he got up and they both walked away like their AI reset.

I'm kinda surprised Beenleigh wasn't in the list. There's police there often just to watch over the station. One afternoon my train stopped at Beenleigh and a drunk Aboriginal holding a plastic cup of beer came on and sat right next to me. He was lovely tho, very chatty. His name was Dennis but he said people call him Dennis the Menace.
Tried to give a homeless guy a dollar at Frankston Station, he shoved his head up my skirt, ONE STAR!

Engadine maccas just didn’t cut it anymore
Had to brake into my car at Loganlea station once after losing my keys. I used a brick to smash the back passenger window and a screwdriver to break the ignition (it was an old shitbox, so I didn't care). It only took about 5 minutes but as I was leaving I noticed a group of people were watching and I swear one guy was taking notes. No one called the police
the notes were probably for a how to guide
And this was at 3 in the arvo, I could only imagine how sus it would have looked when I got off the train carrying a screwdriver and a 6 pack of Bundy, there was so many people around and no one said nothing.

@danehb89 that's a fair call mate, I certainly wouldn't have helped the areas reputation but in my defence I'm sure it would have been obvious it was my car, I mean why would you go through all that trouble just to steal the shittiest car there.
Katoomba train station is the only train station you have to take a flying leap from the train when getting off because the train does not level or fit the platform. NSW Public Transport has become so bad you never know if you will ever get home again after going somewhere. You sit there thinking one day my train will come.

I catch the train from Dapto to Sydney a few times a week for school. It really opened my eyes to how hard dapto/wollongong is, because when I catch the train to Sydney the people slowly get more civilised by the station.
Read reviews of Australian prisons. I've just spent the last 90 minutes pissing myself reading the ones of Barwon and other Victorian prisons.
when i was in high school we would go down to melbourne for the australian schools volleyball championships. We stayed in st kilda and one of the venues was dandenong, so we would have to catch a tram, a train and a bus to get there. One time coming home from the station me and my team were mid conversation with an alcoholic man and his dog (he was drinking on a train) when a girl tried to through herself in front of the train. She then came onto the train covered in cut marks and when the cops arrived, the alcoholic screamed out, "Go with the coppers love! They'll sought you out." His dog then knocked his wine in a paper bag over my sports bag but he told me, "its alright mate, it'll dry before you get back to brisbane, your folks won't suspect a thing."
Mind you this all happened on a wednesday at about midday.

Maitland Station. Mum and child are on the platform, mums punching a dart and the kids complaining he needs to go "number 2". Mum tells him to stop whinging cause the trains about to arrive. A few minutes into the journey the unmistakable smell of shit fills the carriage. I peek around to seem the kid shake a fully formed turd out of the leg of his pants. His mum looking unphased just said "ah bloody hell mate just make sure you kick it off at the next station".

I recently moved out of Loganlea, and I'm not sure if it's just something that you notice more, but for about the last month it felt like every time you drove past there'd be cops down there taking witness statements. Beenleigh's definitely worse though, not a place you'd want to be near after 6:00 at night.
I used to live around the corner from Salisbury interchange. I’ve never found something so relatable in my life. You literally get asked for money EVERY TIME you go there. Some kid will be like “can I have money for a bus ticket?” So you go sure, I’ll buy you a bus ticket. And they’re like “nah that’s alright” because they really want money for smokes. A friend of a friend had someone approach her there and say “you’re too pretty” and punched her in the face. Oh, and my cousin got jumped there too. Wonderful environment.
Loganlea should be pronounced like you are rhyming it with "Bogan Pee." Funnily enough that is also what Loganlea Station smells like.
The Sydney train station that is really off the map is Macdonaldtown. Trains rarely stop there, we had to get a taxi to get out of the place.
So not bad because of derros and getting rolled.. just bad because you can't get there, in my book thats a win
10+ years ago I sat down at BroadMeadows station in Melbourne and looked at the spot next to me and the was a tiny graffiti saying “I caught swine flu here”

If you ever find yourself at Gosford station on platform 1 there's a pigeon that's always there that sleeps on the ground under your feetsies. Hes a good boi I give him 10/10 stars for not giving a shit about your existence and being a polite boy when you're eating twisties. He will not pester you to feed him, but simply stay plumped on the ground. Of course you still pass a twistie to him and he takes it from your hand. What a good boy.

Man anywhere from Cannington to Armadale is pretty dodgy I've been to every station between the yellow line but Midland is pretty bad as for Armadale honestly I get in worse situations when at the Gosnells station as opposed to Armadale one. Not to say that Armadale isn't bad because everyone knows how bad it is down there but yeah nah

LOL. I caught a train from Sutherland to Nowra once. I was stupid enough to dump a import-class eccy on the train. One fo the best I ever had, I might add. Got to Dapto at11pm, and was told a 1 hour wait for the connecting train.
Long story short, I cut the cue at the Daptp RSL cabbie line, by telling a cabbie, while peaking off my ass, "gimme a lift to Kiama, and drop this guy off on the way, i'll pay his fair."
A good time was had by all.... Not at Dapto, per say. But gott say, the locals were all kewl with what went down. Friendly folks (?) ;)

Frankston Station was one of the most common callout locations to have a fight at our high school even though it's like a 2 hour drive. It was also fairly common to associate the station with frequent stabbings regardless of the truth, we just all knew it was a shit train station.
It is the unwritten law of the land here. Frankston is the final boss for all People on the Mornington Pen

I was at Woodridge station at 7am one day and a man said 'oi, come here' and I said no. Then he was like, 'I'm coming to get you' so I had to hide from him while waiting for my train. I started walking to the toilet and then there was ANOTHER man following me so I had to veer off really quickly and avoid him too.

My girlfriend's first car (a sick VN Commie bruv) got stolen from Loganlea while she was at work, was found at the Gold Coast with no wheels, torn up seats and fluoro pink construction marker spraypaint all over it; mostly swastikas. Absolute quality👌😁

Actually there are quite a few dodgy stations on the way out to Geelong: Deer Park, Tarneit, North Shore and Corio are not stations you would want to hang out at night time.

Fawkner is a quiet little place in the morning but at night the people are way more aggressive in general, and if you’re lucky you can hear a gunshot or 2 or even a few.

Yep - from Box Hill, so yes I know it. Mainly because Belgrave/Lilydale get the express tracks in the middle, and the platforms for East Richmond are on the outside tracks. Glen Waverley trains, and short-runners to Box Hill or Blackburn get the East Richmond duty.

Over the course of four years I was challenged to fight by some bogan degenerate everytime I had to go to that station. That man was deranged but remarkably dedicated, I only went to the station once every 3-4 months. We was always there - waiting to avenge some meth fueled delusion and perceived insult I made against him. I always ignored him but year after year our rivalry grew and he became more confrontational and an irritation. One day he ran into me in morayfield shopping centre and began his usual ranting, I finally approached him and accepted his challenge to fight. My friend moved from Caboolture to the Gold Coast hinterland, and his private schoolmates didn't believe any of the Caboolture train station stories he told them. So he took one of them for a trip to Cabo and as they got off two elderly women were trying to lift a stolen Coles trolley packed to the brim with XXXX Gold screaming abuse at everyone. He just stood there with one of those thousand miles stares realising it was all true.
irlewy86 hahahaha. Doesn’t surprise me at all. I live in Brisbane for uni and sometimes I have to catch the train to Caboolture as it’s the closest station to my hometown. Haven’t really encountered anything too crazy yet (aside from the occasional crackhead here and there) but I’m honestly waiting for the day lol
Nambour takes it by a nose as it's literally and figuratively the end of the line. Caboolture has a higher risk rating if you venture outward but offset somewhat by being an express hub for people with their shit together heading to city I.E "Yeh prob won't fuck with that knt aye"
It's ironic, some stations in famously bad areas have reasonably good train stations because they're central in a large catchment so they tend to be bigger, better sheltered and tend to get renovated earlier (it makes a huge difference when a station has barrier gates at the entrances because it keeps the squatters out). You still get the odd methhead or two but they can't do anything because there's usually other people hanging around.
The absolute worst stations are the small ones, the ones the express trains run right through, the ones that still haven't put in a wheelchair lift after 20 years, the ones where if you get off them at 8:00 at night chances are it will be just you, and you have to walk 50m up a blind alley to get to your car.
As a Melburnian I can confirm that Jordies' Melbourne voice is 100% accurate.

I used to live 2 streets away from Oats St Station. Regularly had to speed walk home due to the genuine threat of being stabbed or mugged... definitely less than 3 stars. Although there are definitely worse stations on that line 😂

the old underground bit at Spencer Street Station before they spruced it up in '05 was a classic of utter crap train station. the counterfeit soccer top store, the locksmith, vomit and pee and junkies hassling you for change. we lost a real Melbourne icon when they closed that
