Ashi Garami (BJJ Leglock): Sweep and Stay On Top

- Using ashi-garami - "the leglock position" in BJJ - to sweep a resisting partner and (most importantly) to stay on top and avoid a scramble: ashi garami is usually thought of as a way to attack the heel hook or the achilles lock, but because it's such a powerful way of controlling the legs, we can also use it to off-balance a standing partner. Once they're down, we can then use that same control to heist and take top position.

would love to see your heel hook series from here.
It will be up soon 🤞🏼
Going over this tonight. Thank you for reference Mr. Glick!
Thanks 😊
Really good 👍
Great channel, I’m subscribed! Would love to see the stuff you use on large opponents in particular
Thank you! We’re working on that now - more soon
Awesome details on hip heist from the sweep, I normally keep my foot on their hip and as they escape the foot that allows me to heist out.
Thank you Professor
Nice - thank you :)
Would love to see a video about ashi garami in gi, specifically I have an issue sometimes with them trying to grab my collar and heist onto me
Yep - that’s a common defense. We’ll cover it in a video sometime soon!
@@bzglick Would love to see that as well!
Awesome video ! Can you make one about the body triangle, also do you need to be flexible in order to do it ?
Yes, we will get to it 👍🏼 body triangle is dependent on your size relative to your partner, so not always possible with a big size disparity
great explanation.
🙏🏼
What's preventing him from hip heisting at the same time you do?
Nothing, but you have 2 advantages. First, you initiated the action which puts you ahead. Second, you're prepared for his heist and can control the ankle (as in the second half of the move here) 👍
@@bzglick I see. Thanks a lot!
Any time ;)
👍🏻😃👍🏻😃👍🏻!
