Small note on Guildhests. The Challenge log gives a decent chunk of EXP when you complete 3 and 10 of them. a lot of players spam out the second guildhest (takes 1 minute) to get this reward which is actually pretty good.

Rested exp boost is percentage base of total needed to level up current class/job. Its worth a ton more at higher levels. If you are leveling multiple jobs, try and use the rested exp boost on higher jobs to get the most out of it. Its really easy to burn all the rested exp on sub level 30 in then less 5 minutes while near max level it can last hours.

I just unlocked POTD about a month ago, and soloing the first 30 floors has been my favorite thing to do when I get home from work. Bashing everything in sight for an hour, only thing to pay attention to is what can one shot you so bash it first. Great way to get rid of the stress.
Just started doing squadron runs this week, and those have been a blast as well! You're right in that there is a learning curve, but thinking though the mechanics when you have no power to place the members has been a challenge and it's a nice little feeling you get when you figure it out. I took monk from 20 to 38 in about 4 runs along with the class quests (and challenge log) and that took maybe 5 hours all together. I did it in an afternoon.
Thank you for this video, I was looking for something that would add some variety to my leveling experience. It's been exciting to see all the new stuff that has been added, but I tend to unlock something and do nothing else for a week or longer hahahaha silly!

Thank you! I've tried explaining Armory Bonus to my old FC mates multiple times that the way the tooltip describes it is NOT what they were saying.
Something else to note with the rested experience bonus. If the bonus exp would extend BEYOND your current level, the bar will be filled and will a bright blue color instead of that dull gold color as depicted in the video. I had a friend ask me what happened to his bonus exp one day when he logged in and noticed it was blue. He thought he'd hit the limit on how much bonus exp you can have saved up at one time and I had to explain to him it just meant that he'd still be gaining bonus exp even after he completed his current level.
Correction on FC buffs + Squadron Manuals: They do add together now. I use my squadron to collect manuals every week and use them when I'm seriously leveling my classes (like, doing every daily queue because the manual lasts for 2 hours), and my FC has the +15% exp buff because a lot of our members are newer players or are veterans working on catching up their other classes. Whenever I do content I notice that I'm gaining +133% exp (I'm also always rested and eat food too, hence the +103%)

I honestly think you should have separated the methods in 2 sections, solo and instances.... because while you wait for the queue you could do some of the (according to you) less usable ways to level, some challenge logs, levequest, hunting log, hunts, etc, and then instances, like dungeons, raids, trials, roulette, etc

Trusts are great for learning the mechanics, and bypassing annoying long DPS queue times.
It's also nice to have AI teammates who you can trust to behave (mostly) in proper ways, though Alisaie has a bad habit of popping Caster LB even if you're playing Physical DPS, and Y'shtola occasionally gets so into her casting that she stands in AoEs... but Urianger seems to be even worse at avoiding AoEs. He's the only partner I've had to rez (twice!) in my 100+ Trust runs -- both times to eating one or _both_ of Lozatl's half-room attacks.
Thancred is a pretty solid GNB tank... he'll pick up enemies very reliably when adds show up. Alphinaud and Ryne seem okay enough at healing and melee DPS, more or less. They certainly won't match real players in the DPS, but they do enough to help pass the bosses' DPS checks, which is good enough for me.
Once you learn how the Trust partners respond to stack and spread markers, and learn to follow them to other safe spots, you're pretty much golden. Just expect it to take a while -- the Trust partners' DPS is far from optimal.

I have to disagree with your opinion about leveling through PVP, thanks to Frontline Roulette Bonus, and aiming to get certain Achievement mounts like the Construct mount, i have managed to get all my jobs to lv80, and i owe alot of that to PVP EXP. Queue times are fine on my server, there is normally a 5 hour window where it pops instantly. The extended time during patch 5.2 was great for this too. And the advantage you can gain EXP for jobs you are not fully comfortable with (Like Tanking or healing) without actually having to use them (Switching jobs whilst inside PVP) is a great bonus.

For me Lv70-80, I highly recommend doing the Pixie Beast Tribe quests. Completing three daily gives around 20%-30% of your current level and you can complete them in less than five minutes. You get more than doing trials which is like 5% of your level and you finish it faster. Compare to previous Beast Tribe, it's way more straightforward as you don't have to travel as much, and some of them you just talk to NPC once and you're done. Also the team put a lot of effort into making the extra zone for the Pixies, and I think they deserve some credit for it.

Levequest EXP for crafting/gathering (along with GC turn-ins) was given so much a buff in patch 5.1 that, honestly, by only doing leves (and making sure you pay attention to which ones allow triple turn-ins), you can easily rank up your crafting & gathering classes quickly. Honestly, the issue is that if you do this (and are crafting from the beginning, not waiting until HW postgame, where Ishgard restoration can be unlocked), when you get to Heavensward, you'll have to slow down because the areas where the needed materials are found are locked behind MSQ progression.
As for leveling roulette vs. 50/60/70 roulette: leveling roulette really does help raise levels quickly. Even at higher levels, 3 daily leveling roulettes (which also is a challenge log entry), grants a full level, even when thrown into Tam Tara Deepcroft when your main job is level 70+. 50/60/70 roulettes are more done for repeatable daily quests, which provide other rewards (often needed for stuff like relic weapon improvement). And Main Scenario roulette is done mostly to quickly earn tomestones (300-400 per daily roulette: 200 for the dungeon, 100 for roulette, possible 100 more for new player bonus). Only issue is having to rewatch all of the cutscenes to make it fair for new players.
The biggest problem with Wondrous Tails is that, at the time you unlock them, not many of the objectives are available. Seriously - it's unlocked in Heavensward, but well over half of the objectives that are shown don't unlock until Stormblood or Shadowbringers.

Wondrous tails = half a level of EXP currently. You don't have to level the class that you used to go through all of the marks on it (so you effectively get more for turning in the journal while using higher level jobs). You can use unrestricted party to complete the requirements within it if you just want to blast through it. You can use your 'second chances' to reset and do the same level 1-49 dungeon over and over too if you like (I usually use Aurum Vale because I have the time down to under 5 minutes). You get more 'second chances' by going through duties with players who have not completed them yet, which means the currency will not automatically be available though.

This means it's faster to get to max level on one combat job before doing alts, I was 80 on everything before I learned this, but I'm told the difference is significant.

Levequests at this point are...almost broken at some tiers. If you can reliably turn in HQ items you can blitz levels. I went from 60-80 on 3 crafters pretty fast. In fact with a mix of guild quests from 1-40, a trip on the timed boat that leaves Limsa at set times, and maybe 20 hq turn ins for guildleves? I leveled a Fisher from 1 to 80 in under an hour and a half. It was insane. It's mostly because sea items are pretty cheap too, so getting a pile of repeatable HQ turn ins wasnt that expensive.

I disagree on the PvP roulette. It quickly gets pretty crazy in terms of EXP, win or loss, they're just so lucrative. For at least a very quick 10-15 minutes, you can get comparable (but not quite the same) EXP to several of the prime Leveling Roulette dungeons. In the 70s, it give a good 30-35% of the level (say 9M+ around 78). That, at least to me, makes it an extremely valuable cost-time play option to add into the daily chores/schedule of leveling. The only real downside is of course content preference. If one does not like PvP content it obviously might not be worth the quarter of an hour of effort. But man does it go smoother than Alliance roulette every time, which ups its value to me. The queue times are also obviously case-by-case depending on server and your server's particular PvP prime time. On my server it's never really too much longer than a regular leveling roulette as a DPS; 15-20 minutes tops.

Be nice if they added POTD to the duty finder. The queue times for anything other than 1-10 or 51-60 can be really long now and it sucks to have to just stand around in quarrymill for it. I'm not sure but they may have added further lvl requirements for floors after 1-10, on doing this on my latest character I had to run this 3 times before I was able to run 11-20. Could be just bad luck but I've never encountered that previously.

Always use trust once you hit Shadowbringers when you're doing a new story dungeon for the first time. Not only does it help to learn the dungeon mechanics, the characters you bring will make comments on things in the dungeons. It also just makes sense from a story perspective in general, since they're your close friends and allies who've been fighting with you throughout the story.
(SPOILER WARNIONG) For example, bringing Alisaie into the first Shadowbringers dungeon you'll see she has a comment to make on the second boss, Tesleen the Forgiven, which makes sense given what that boss is and what happened earlier on in the story leading to that point.

I feel like it would be worth mentioning that some of these leveling methods are valuable became they can be done while waiting in dps queues for duties. Beast Tribes and Hunts specifically are great to do while in a queue, while fates are doable but you get nothing if the duty pops and you have to abandon the fate. Sidequests are also ok in queues .

  • @ShapelessChaos
    @ShapelessChaos 4 года назад

I find that running dungeons outside of trusts is only really a viable way as a tank/healer, since the queue time for dps is normally quite high. I normally just run POTD/HoH on dps classes to 70/71 then I start doing trusts. The issue I’ve found with trusts is that your character levels faster than the npcs it seems, so your stuck running the lower level dungeon even as a higher level, and lets be honest, Dhon Mheg fucking sucks, my RDM is currently level 77, and my party members for trusts are only 73, so I’ve gotta run a lot of Dhon Mheg till I can hit the 75 dungeon. It honestly makes me just want to wait till late September when the 71-80 levelling drops (hoping that it’s good)

I absolutet 100% disagree about hunting log. When my friend joined the game, first thing I told him was to chase after the hunting log on a secondary job or whenever he feels like. Not only do you become familiar with the zone, but the EXP is INCREDIBLE.
No, not necessarily incredible when you do it over level 30.... but you must stay in the same level range as your hunting log. The way I did it, was when I unlocked 20~30, I WAS level between 20~30. When I reached level 45, I did 40~50 and that EXP from that log levelled me from 45 to 50 in a matter of fifteen minutes. The hunting log is what made my friend also, level up insanely fast within a few hours. Nothing else is required. We use food but I don't know if the food is relevant. My friend stopped using food/exp buff things to avoid levelling too quickly.

Hi MrHappy, thanks for the comprehensive video: as a new player, FFXIV tends to be overwhelming and often even confusing, with so many feature thrown there and with little consistency expansion through expansion (one major disappointment being Grand Companies). I try and look at videos like this to understand something but I often end up even more confused and frustrated.
Numbered titles are ok-ish during the footage but, after 30 mins long a video, please consider a RECAP. Also, there's so much talking and scoring that in the end one can't recall what are the best features, which ones are worth doing and if there's a general approach that would help one level all jobs in a pragmatic, yet varied way. Thanks!

levequests are great for leveling gatherers, but dont do the biglevequests. They take up a lot of allowance and though it gives you a chunk of exp, doing a bunch of regular levequests compare to doing 3 big ones, give you overall better experience.
do collectables for leveling crafters. they give you scrips that you can buy manuals, these manuals will skyrocket your leveling.
