    I own two Ranga pens - their conjunction between cap & barrel are seamless; if only all manufactured products in the world could attain this benchmark of superior quality, dedication & (timeless) artisanry. The western world could take a few leaves out of this company's book for such unrelenting craftsmanship - phenomenal !!

      As far as I am aware, none of the Ranga range leak, Kodoaok - but then I only own two models. The choice as to which you purchase, is entirely yours.

    Govt. should support this kind of handicrafts and craftsmen, and should provide them funds to build a better workshop with more precise machinery and tools

    • @FriedPi-mc5yt
      @FriedPi-mc5yt 6 месяцев назад

      Why should government be involved in anyone’s business? Capitalism and their products will provide the funds to build a better workshop with more precise machinery. Besides, businesses fund government. So wouldn’t it make more sense to let businesses keep more of their money so they can more easily afford better workshops and more precise machinery?

    • @immortalbeing196
      @immortalbeing196 6 месяцев назад

      @@FriedPi-mc5yt may be true, but then why still their condition are bad... If they get better technology and precise machines it could reduce their strain... It will also increase the overall quality and production.

    • @FriedPi-mc5yt
      @FriedPi-mc5yt 6 месяцев назад

      @@immortalbeing196 Ranga doesn’t make high production pens like Pilot or Lamy. They make handcrafted pens. You buy a Ranga pen because of it being made by hand. Not because it’s spit out by the hundreds from a machine as someone stands by and watches the machine do all the work. You can buy about 5 pilot Metropolitan pens for the cost of one Ranga pen. Which is the better pen? Which one will you appreciate more? The one that’s made by a machine? Or the one that is handcrafted individually by a person that is a true craftsman? If you want a precisely made pen that is exactly like every other pen that’s made before it and after it. Buy a Lamy Safari or a Pilot Metropolitan. If you want a handcrafted pen that is as much of an individual as you are, then buy a Ranga.

    • @immortalbeing196
      @immortalbeing196 6 месяцев назад

      @@FriedPi-mc5yt You are totally mistaken about my point, I'm not talking about the mass-production machines. See even ranga pen makers use lathe machines and buffing machines right! but the quality of their lathe is outdated and the studio looks messy too. I'm talking about how these things could have been better. Big mass-production brands like Pilot also make namiki pens that are premium and handpainted.. I own a pilot metro, a lamy safari,, and a handcrafted Gama too.

    • @FriedPi-mc5yt
      @FriedPi-mc5yt 6 месяцев назад

      @@immortalbeing196 Do you think a modern machine would make that much of a difference in the pen you get? You’re looking at this through the lens of a first world resident. If his shop was spotless and perfectly clean, would that change the appearance of the pen you get? If he had a modern lathe, would that improve the appearance and quality of the pen? What you are seeing is the shop of a very skilled, talented craftsman that is very busy. None of the things you suggested in the way of improvements would have much of an impact on the pen he produces. There is a such thing as the “law of diminishing returns”. Which means that when you get to a certain point in improvement, your gains begin to lessen by larger and larger margins as you try to reach “perfection”. If he thought more modern equipment would improve his pens or improve the way he makes them, he would have likely already made those changes. I’m not sure why you can’t accept his skills are amazing and that he can make fine writing instruments with so little in the way of modern, advanced equipment. Maybe you should step back and look at things from a different point of view rather than complain about how he isn’t working in the way you think he should. Or that his shop isn’t up to the standards you think his shop should be in. I don’t own a Ranga pen. But I really want one because of the way it’s made and because the man who makes it will use simple tools with a high degree of skill.

    are ebonite scrappings reusable? let alone degradable, we indians just dump those in the corner plot and go on with our day in the make of making!
    it's not a insult, I cannot stand the wastage here unless it reused later(?).. wood scrapping can atleast be used as firewood

    This guy needs to do 3 things.
    1. Clean and organize his working area.
    2. See some videos of Japanese fountain pen makers and learn how to make pens with less effort.
    3. Talk to state govt. and get small loan to upgrade his machinery and tools, larger desk, chair and tools drawers.

      1. His workshop is organized to his convenience, not to your judgement.
      2. Have you ever worked on a lathe? I assume not. Your inferiority complex hinders your growth.
      3. His state govt is busy hating the rest of India while laundering loads of money in their pockets in the name of divisive dravidian politics. Its people like you who are easy to fool, those who are social media champions busy hating everything that the hivemind is busy hating, while politicians exploit your hatred to rule over you.

The state and its politics is organized for their best interests not for your judgement. Much worse is how even factually incorrect it is to say that his state government is hating the rest of the country. Now tell me, have you ever lived in the south ? Ever tried speaking or learning any of the Dravidian languages? So please hold back your uneducated comments shall you ? Gracias.

      It's not like that brother, working area looks like this especially when you are searching for handmade pen makers.
      Basically in India, we don't encourage this kind of things except southern part of India because peoples from other regions of India thinks that these are worthless because they thinks that if we want only to write why can't we buy the cheaper ones instead of buying fountain pens.
      So please encourage this guy for his work !!

      See the 2015 video of this same craftsman using a much nicer collet chuck and lathe headstock. I wonder what happened to that nice headstock, replaced by a rudimentary drill head chuck. this guy is expected to make the same quality pen from poorer tools. Edit: In this video he has to use the tailstock to drill the core and working between centres like this is necessary with a poor headstock. Nice pens, basic diy lathe setup. Puts western pen turners with expensive lathes and tools to shame.

    Warning!!! Ranga does not take returns or attempt to correct clear errors - While I received a beautiful pen it was clearly not even close to the colour I had chosen. The main response was that it was the colour I had chosen and no recourse was available - very saddened that I will not get to use a Ranga pen and I am now too afraid to make other colour choices
