    My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

      If you lack market knowledge, your best bet is to seek advice or support from a consultant or investing coach. Contacting a consultant may sound simple, but it's how I've managed to stay afloat in the market and increase my portfolio to roughly 60% early this year. It is, in my opinion, the best way to get started in the industry right now.

      brokerage AdvisoRs could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of investors raking in 6 to 7 digits in a space of months. So, I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2020, and the least I returned was $140k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

It represents a broad cross-section of the U.S. economy and includes some of the largest and most successful companies in the world. • @rogerwheelers4322
      @rogerwheelers4322 3 месяца назад +6

      There is 55% overlap with the holdings in VOO and VUG. 1 is tech heavy and the other is financials heavy similar, but not the same. VOO tracks the S&P 500; VUG is just focused on large cap growth stocks. VUG is a bit more volatile, but with a higher upside potential. VOO is a bit safer. I’ve never heard anyone advise against multiple ETFs/mutual funds. You just have to be aware of overlap. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

    Hi Mitch, firstly love the content. Pitched at just the right level. I am a new investor (started on 1st Jan 24) I just wondered if you think I am doing my investing journey correctly? 😂 I am 55yrs old. I already receive a pension and am lucky enough to be able to work again growing a second DB pension for when I choose to retire again! I am lucky enough to own 3 properties that I rent out in the UK. I have started a T212 ISA in both cash and S/S. £5K in the cash ISA as my emergency pot. Then £15k in a S/S ISA. But I was always worried about being a tinkerer. So within the £15k 75% is in a the S&P 500. The other 25% is based on 15 dividend paying UK stocks that offer a bit of excitement seeing the dividends roll in every month. I am able to invest £500 per month into these stocks in the same proportions (75% and 25%). My plan is just to leave the S&P to grow and if I get the urge to tinker I can use the less expensive stocks to have some fun without messing it up too much.
    Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Going back to the race driver analogy, would you put your money on Hamilton who has great track record over another guy who’s lost most of his races and you’re unsure if he will ever win again? I don’t see any other country innovating like US companies and if any company comes close the US companies just gobble them up in an acquisition.

      It's priced in. These stocks are expensive relative to their fundamentals.
      Think about it, if Apple or other so called innovative US companies are 5x more expensive than it is today, you would still make the same argument. That's when you should reflect on how you're thinking about investing.
      Of course, if you're arguing that the market is pricing these already highly priced companies unfairly low, based on their future cash flows, then there's an argument to be made.
      A great company at a fair price can be a good investment. A great company at an obscenely high price is likely not.

Apple have continued to release iPhones on the same date every year, slightly incrementing designs of the same phone, but yet their price still continues to climb, they haven’t done anything really innovative till the Vision Pro and that’s way late to the VR party. Anyway we could debate over each individual stock but we are talking about an economy. Mag 7 has rallied the past few years but before tech stocks it was other US sectors. There’s so much more to tech than the consumer side Nvidia omniverse, Ai, Amazon cloud that really have no competition. People who say tech stocks are overpriced are likely unaware of the insane growth potential they have and just think of the consumer side of the business.

    Wait, so you’re saying that is still worth to invest in US companies with the Stocks and Shares ISA account? I’ve always thought that it’s better to avoid the curse of the FX impact and since the Stocks and Shares ISA is not a multi currency account, I have always used dollars only with the regular Investing account

    • @MitchShoesmith
      @MitchShoesmith  3 месяца назад +1

      With the Invest account you're exposed to capital gains tax and dividend tax rates above the tax free allowances. The FX impact is still the same because you'll inevitably have to convert those dollars back into pounds at some point in the future if you were to sell. It's what I personally do anyway and have a preference towards the ISA.

      @@gusleonard9397No I actually think the OP has a solid understanding of macro. Aggregate P/E multiples are extremely overextended and indeed similar to 2000. Within funds, capital is now overweight the ‘mag 7’ and a tech correction annihilates portfolios.
      Each ‘revolution’ is front loaded with a bubble that eventually pops and the latest of those is AI. Significant CapEx is anchoring EPS and sooner or later, AI has to wipe its face. I am yet to see any revenue model which even comes close to paying for all of the investment.
      Oh and finally, the minute the Fed cuts - the stock market sharply corrects. That is a trend reaching back some 40 or so years. Spoiler alert: it’s never ‘different this time’.
