A drone would have gotten down and given you more information. There are crime scene mapping drones that can give you the size and dimensions of everything in that hole, and the island surface to boot. It would take less time and you could keep a visual map/record of it all. Try Pix 4D, but there are more versions too.

I can not believe it. For me now everything makes sense!!!! Mr Ball, Moneypit, the sump, nolans cross, the cests everything. Even the tree next to the monypit makes sense. I can even explain the tools that were found. You need the nolan cross 2 times to reconstruct the entrances of the tunnels. Every point of interest can be reconstructed multiple times by using the points. As a pirate, all you need is long rope and a piece of wood. No mathematics, no laser no map. Nolans cross shows the measurements. At one point of the island, where a house was build, there was a stone which seems be removed. The sump has been a harbour to repair ships, the flooding tunnels are part of a ventilation system. The coconut fiber kept the insects outside. It became a flooding system when the ground was removed because of storms. The moneypit was also part of the ventilation system. Wood was burned in the moneypit to make the air flow and to remove used air. Pirates were living in the caves. Nobody saw them and they stayed warm. The so called "flooding tunnels" must be located near a tunnel which collapsed. The tunnel was important. Aggressors could have killed people by burning wood in front of the ventilation system. It was hidden behind stones or something. Why did water flood the moneypit? There was an airbubble. When they dig there, the air removed and the treasure chamber was flooded. The treasure chamber is behing the moneypit and included food alcohol weapons and gold. 40 feet below is a treasure. It means "Go down and walk 40 feet down". The Stone does have 3 meanings not 2. Number1 is for the captain, one for the leading crew and the last one for everybody else. The people who kept the fire alive were protectting the chamber. It was always somebody there. On the tree, next to the moneypit, you would find people who watch out for the enemy. Even in winter it was warm there. They are natural caves. The moneypit used to be a natural chamber until it collapsed and was found by pirates. Oak Iland was choosen because it was the perfect habour. Most of the sump must have been dryed to keep the ships save. When I look at my points of interests then everything makes sense. Even the stoneplate makes sense. Because of the natural caves, it was difficult to dig a tunnel, beton was used to make the tunnel waterproof. The old wood is part of the tunnelsystem. When they were diging and water came in they paniced the lost some tools because they were covered with beton and not found anymore. The bones of people were captured people of foreign ships who had to dig the tunnels. In one part of the island you will find a lot of bones. These people did dig the backdoor. When they left the Island they closed the entrances and the ventilation system. Without air people would die if they enter a tunnel that was found. The backdoortunnel goes to the other side of the island. There are a lot of tunnel. Mr Ball found the delivery entrance which collapsed. It is located near to the chamber.
When I have time, I will make a video and explain my point of view.
PS: If My theory is correct then the maked spot of the moneypit is not correct. It should be a little bit higher but if the treasure chamber is long enough then you might hit it.

Hearst Communications and the Disney Media Network(s) practiced historical revisionism for many years which dumbed down their audience and lost viewership of people with historical knowledge. On a island and with the old technology a mining type tunnel would have been the most likely way to explore it. That’s probably the “flood tunnel” and the braves walls they keep finding. just old tunnels with water since it’s below the water level.

They dug a big, wide, and deep crater, and then deposited whatever the "treasure" is. Then they started filling the crater and creating the money pit shaft and flood tunnels as they filled and the ground level rose.
