budgeting is the only way to get lots of coins, have more income then you have outgo. Sounds simple but it isn't when they keep giving you more and more animals to put down. lol PLUS keep getting shops/stores and upgrading those along with your entrances and collect often, like every few hours.
and WAIT FOR SALES, I only buy and upgrade during sales. ... Oh and breeding profitable non contest animals to sell helps too 😉 Hope that helps
