12:00 The Jedi were on Alderaan to sign a peace treaty with the Empire, only a token force remained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The Empire used this opportunity to attack Coruscant, led by Darth Angral who assassinated the Republic senators, and Darth Malgus who led the attack on the Jedi Temple, Coruscant was ultimately sacked by the Empire. This sacking took two days, but having the galactic capital of the Republic as a bargaining chip, the Empire forced the Republic to sign the controversial 'Treaty of Coruscant' which forced the Republic in a position of weakness. And so began the 11-year long Cold War. If you want the full story, look up *The Sacking of Coruscant*.

Light Saber Color Meaning: Blue are Jedi Guardian, Yellow are Jedi Sentinel, and Green are Jedi Counsular. Red is typically Sith. Colors such as Purple, Cyan, Silver, Orange, and others typically went to Grey Jedi (Those who do not follow the tenants of the Jedi Code fully, but have not fallen to the Dark Side.)
To answer your question, yes. Malgus (the human sith), thus far, even in the game, has survived every attempt to kill him. I'm growing more convinced over time that blowing up a planet with him on it would be insufficient. Dude would probably just be floating in space thinking "Alright. Kinda pissing me off now."
9:31 - the "how" is called tutaminis. I.E. the force ability that allows one to absorb and redirect energy. 13:52 - I don't know, but I assume it MAY have something to do, with the fact, that this happens some three MILLENNIA before Star Wars canon. 23:35 - "that" is Senya Tirall, the mother of all three of Emperor Valkorion's children: the twin sons, Thexan and Arcann, and the daughter Vaylin. The latter two of which would come to rule the Empire of Zakuul, after Arcann killed the "Immortal" Emperor
I just have to say, I don't find the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the Sacking of Coruscant sad. I find it fist pumping, elating even. Yeah, I was an imperial player hahaha. Long live the Empire!
The move you saw and seemed surprised by where the girl stopped the blade with her hands is a rare force ability called tutaminis, which involves dispersing energy. Yoda uses it in the movies to disperse lightning, but the mastery of it needed to absorb the energy from a lightsaber was really only attained by the Jedi of the time period in this game (and *I think* Luke Skywalker in the EU), as the Jedi of the movies hadn’t really fought saber wielders in millennia.
You should also remember, in regards to the temple guards and their lightsabers, that this is thousands of years before episode 1. In over 1000 years, traditions can change.
Satele Shan, now there's a strong female character. As much as I felt she was a stick-up-the-ass pain in the game (which is what made me consider the game to have quality writing because I actually genuinely disliked a character as a person) I respected her because I knew her past. She gave up her own son to follow the path of the Jedi, and her maternal love for Theron came back to haunt her at times, especially whenever she saw how his own mother's abandonment of him affected him psychologically. I'm sure there were an uncountable number of times she secretly desperately wanted to throw it all away and try and become his mother again, but she stayed true to her beliefs in the end. But she made that call because she believed in fighting for her beliefs and sticking by her principles, a sentiment that is vanishingly rare in today's society. Rey deserves derision and scorn. Satele Shan deserves respect.
The Deceived novel is really worth the read as it gives you insight as to why the Jedi temple falls so easily. Plus the audiobook version of it is really high quality.
You know what sucks is that the master of the sith in the first clip was probably the last of species because his race was the first to truly embrace the way of the sith and were native to korriban

"Since an upcoming SW movie has been confirmed to be set in The Old Republic, I'm hoping it'll exceed these trailers lol" Unlikely. Disney's track record indicates they care as much about staying true to Star Wars as they care about anything that isn't money. Unless the team doing it is all people from outside of Disney and Lucasfilm with fantastic track records in the franchise, I'm only holding my breath to see how badly they will deface it.
@@gestimo6168 i think Returned is best. It not only introduces all 4 Republic classes it gives you a small idea of how they work and the overall story and feel of SWTOR. I remember wanting to be all 4 classes and I've played as all 4 because of that initial curiosity
The Old Republic Era of the Star Wars galaxy was an epic but really messed up time, like most of the Star Wars timeline, but with more sith and force user factions.
you should do a let's play of the old republic. you would get the story so much better, the three trailers features darth maglus and Sateele Shan. And the years of battle between the republic and the sith empire. With Maglus become the butcher of of the sith empire and sateele shan becoming a jedi knight. And you are right the jedi temple would normally be much more guarded. The Sith surprised the galaxy and extended an offer of peace to the Republic. Although cautious of the Empire's intentions, the Galactic Senate of the Republic accepted the much-needed reprieve. Unbeknownst to the Republic, the Sith had no intention of allowing the war to come to a peaceful conclusion. While Republic and Imperial delegations convened on Alderaan for treaty negotiations. Maglus and many sith would attack this would known as the Sacking of Coruscant. there is so much more to it than this but its just a quicjk breakdown. the 4th and 5th are about Arcann,Thexan and their mother and sister. Senya & Vaylin. And The Emperor (Senya's hushand) and their father. pretty much makes there life a livng hell.
Actually, Darth Malgus (the baddie in the three movies) DID WANT to raze Coruscant. But, unbeknowst to him, this was just a supreme ploy to twist the Republic's arms during the negociations on Alderaan, conducted by Darth Baras, the master of the Sith warrior in the game. Malgus was enraged, to the point he slew Lord Adraas (the first sith lord in the ship to ignite his lightsaber), and also became a personal enemy of Darth Angral, who oversaw the invasion/occupation of Coruscant (and would later once more conspire against Coruscant via his son, Lord Tarnis, as an antagonist to the Hero of Tython, aka the jedi knight you play in SWTOR)
@@whitekryptonite even if that is so, the version of Hope and Deceived that she watched didn't have the dialogue that officially released with the game. As far as I'm aware, the versions of Hope and Deceived that she watched are not considered the "official" or "final" dialogue, but I'm not certain of that. I'm pretty late on this. The jedi with yellow lightsabers are the Jedi sentinels, yes some were at the temple but I guess they're not seen at the moment. We forget that there were many Jedi so maybe there were some there in the battle.
Yeah, peace talks were going on. Plus this was 10000 years before the Jedi in episode 1 and up. So there were no temple guards back then. This incident and a few others are what gave them the notion of temple guards.
@@Bellthorian she is. Its why Valkorion put her under mind control by the Priests on Napthema so that she would never take over his throne by force, as he knew she have the potential to surpass someone as strong as himself. She seemed mentally unstable due to the rituals that was done to her to keep her under control.
so there are two reasons as to why the jedi temple guards are not there during the decieved tralier. the first is the fact that the SWTOR game im pretty sure came out before the clone wars TV series, and as such the characterisation of the temple guards dorning the iconic mask and yellow saber was not yet established as cannon. The Second is partially my own opinion but as SWTOR is set in the old repubilic era, the temple guards didnt have a standardised uniform established at least not until perhaps after the the sacking of coruscant. just my opinion though
the problem you had about the third trailers security? That was a rebel ship so they had no need to stop it, thats why it crashed with no fire on it. Then color of lightsabers has to do with where they are and what crystals are in the area when they make their lightsabers.
I hate these new lines they put in. Just doesn't flow as well as the others. That part where he stabs the Grandmaster was perfect when he said "You....were deceived.." These other lines feel so jumbled up and rushed. Especially that scene where it went black before the Sith rushed out of the ship. It originally had a pause of silence that was so perfect. Let you have a moment to think about what might happen, then BOOM. Dramatic pauses are very good, never lose them or forget them.
The trooper at the end(Jace Malcom) and the Jedi(Satele Shan) end up together and have a kid. Satele is also a daughter of Bastila Shan and Revan (formerely Darth Revan). which is among my most favourite SW love stories ever. This is how to write a good character - male, female, human, alien, this is how its done. These cinematic trailers tell a better story than Disney's dumb sequels.
Just wanted to say, during the time of the old republic the sith pretended to want peace and made all the masters of the Jedi order leave the temple leaving only their personal security detail, a couple knights, and their apprentices. During this time the sith, who is the same person for the first three "episodes", masses a strike force and takes the temple and Coruscant and holds it as ransom. It is because of these events that the Jedi would later train the temple guards who wielded the yellow lightsaber. But this is a also Legends and has no connection to any canon star wars media
Think of it this way.....I'm sure the REPUBLIC regarded the Jedi as a magical supernatural person.....and with a whole temple full of em....why would they need protection....they have that themselves.....or the troop transport....who thinks someone would smash a ship into a building? Right....lol Its a gold colored lightsaber hon.....😉
In regards to you saying the security should've been higher you gotta look at what was going on during both times. Order 66 was just issued and no one thought that the Chosen One would betray the Jedi. "Operation Knightfall" (501st Journal in BF2) talked about how the 501st Legion helped Anakin sack the Jedi Temple. There were only a few Masters there, a few knights, jedi temple guards (including Cin Drallig *You see him in the hologram fighting anakin while he's choking another jedi), and of course the padawans/younglings. Darth Angral chose Darth Malgus to lead a strike team to Coruscant. Darth Malgus would execute the plan killing at least half of the high council members and a considerable amount of jedi. The Republic and the Empire were in the middle of negotiations and the attack led to renegotiations hence the reason why the trailer is called "Deceived". Gotta read/watch a lot of material in order to keep track of Legends/Canon content as well as get a good grasp of the events that happened. One of the many reasons why I love Star Wars. There's just so much content in both Legends/Canon :)
lil late ,the galactic timeline is worth the listen /all in up one vid in yt/swtor story/its explain a lot even if you played the game .narrating with Lance Henriksen/personally i found better the whole story than any movies made.
In the Hope trailer (the second one), Satele was able to block Darth Malgus' lightsaber using a force technique called Tutaminus. The word is an umbrella term for any force ability involving energy absorption/deflection. Another example of this is anytime Yoda was able to deflect or absorb the Force lightning from Darths Tyrannus and Sidious. Just a note, Darth Vader blocking the blaster bolts from Han on Cloud City in ESB is not Tutaminus. That moment actually has more to do with the gloves Vader is wearing. They are heavily armored, able to block a blaster bolt on their own, and (fun fact) are actually the same gloves that Darth Malgus used. Also, the Jedi that Malgus killed in the Jedi Temple (the one with the green lightsaber) was Ven Zallow, and he was the Jedi Grand Master at the time.
Satele Shan is my 2nd fav character in canon after Mara Jade... and YES they are canon because canon is what the fans make it. Also whats with the new dialogue in the return trailer? the other one was better..
To explain the Jedi Temple trailer, this was thousands of years ago. The Jedi thought they were safe so lack of security. The Jedi that died was a Jedi Master so he wasn't a Temple guard.

The Rule of two is the utmost affermation of power. Sith must seek strength, always, even if that means turning on each other, even if that means slaughtering your own kind, killing the people you once loved. There is a rule in their code, a rule that must be followed no matter what and it's the Rule of Two: there will be only one master and one apprentice. As the apprentice grow stronger and stronger, the master will turn weak. And then, for the sake of the rule, the apprentice will kill his master and will take a padawan himself. That's why the Sith in the first video killed his master, that's why Lord Vitiate, the most powerful Sith who ever lived, forced his sons to turn on each other, until one of them killed the other. There cannot be more than a master and an apprentice. And by feeding this hunger of power, hate, even when the rage is against the master, and pain, one's soul gets dragged deeper and deeper within the unfathomable depth of the Dark Side, until you are completely consumed by it. And that is the point where a new Sith Lord will arise, prosecuting the Rule and reigning over the Sith until someone will come to test his strength. "Peace is a lie, there is only Passion. Through Passion, I gain Strength. Through Strength, I gain Power. Through Power, I gain Victory. Through Victory, my Chains will be broken." This is the Code of the Sith. And it is why they only walk the path of self-destruction.

"Alright guys, lets jump right into it"
Takes 17 seconds to press play*
at 9:27 she probably used force absorb which absorbs energy to block the saber attack similar to how darth vader took hans blaster shots into his hand in empire strikes back on cloud city
love watching these rections, i just like to see how many people are just watching, and how many are really paying attention. still good video's and here I am watching them again..
Brake in lol malgus just walks in the front door like he owns the place
These trailers have some of the best visual storytelling around. Still stupid that they even bothered releasing the same trailers with different voice overs especially since the previous ones were much better
Keep in mind these videos are the intro to the conflict you will encounter in the game. The resolution to these is in the game.
13:40 The temple guards were invented later for this reason you don't see the typical yellow lightsabers.
this is 4000 yeas ago before the clone wars
3000 years before Star Wars: A New Hope. 300 years after the game Knights of the Old Republic.
3700 actually. The events of the KOTOR games were 4k years before Clone Wars
This also takes place 3000 years before ANH, to which ROTS was 20 or 30 years before ANH. So they were very different
Blocking a saber like that is rare but has precedent. Its a similar process to absorbing Force lightning and is called tutaminis (sp?)
18:00 "These are like the saddest star wars stories I've ever seen".
18:20 Betrayed comes on
To answer your question, yes. Malgus (the human sith), thus far, even in the game, has survived every attempt to kill him. I'm growing more convinced over time that blowing up a planet with him on it would be insufficient. Dude would probably just be floating in space thinking "Alright. Kinda pissing me off now."
"Looks like Kylo Ren" Never disrespect the real sith comparing them to that weasel
Just found your channel! I enjoyed the video! Will be looking for more .😁
Thank you! =)
This is before the Jedi gardian temple gards existied roughly 4000 yrs before a new Hope
I just have to say, I don't find the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the Sacking of Coruscant sad. I find it fist pumping, elating even.
Yeah, I was an imperial player hahaha. Long live the Empire!
For the Republic! (I'm a level 70 Guardian)
Absorbing energy, for example a lightsaber blade, is a force technique called tutaminis. Only very strong jedi are able to use it.
This is why it's called Deceived, because the Jedi was deceived by the Sith.
The Deceived novel is really worth the read as it gives you insight as to why the Jedi temple falls so easily. Plus the audiobook version of it is really high quality.
New voicelines are awful =/ Great reaction tho :) Btw, it was same sith in all 3 movies, so yeah, he survived.
Thanks! Yeah it seems a lot of people don't like this version of the dialogue
Sapfearon aaah, Darth Malgus. I really want his lightsaber hilt to have mounted on my wall.
Not really a spoiler anymore but malgus has now returned to the game SOMEHOW still alive. I really don't think he can die.
@@avellinkaira I only played this game at release but back then darth malgus was the endboss of a dungeon, so hes still alive?
@@shapsas9435 he just recently came back. Seems Acina is holding his leash.
You know what sucks is that the master of the sith in the first clip was probably the last of species because his race was the first to truly embrace the way of the sith and were native to korriban
Thankfully not true, there are others still alive. They were close to extinction but managed to come back as a species.
Rhodesians Never Die fr oh shit B]
The jedi sentinels used yellow. The guardians used blue. The counselors used green.
Thank you so much for reacting to this, I appreciate it! :)
Since an upcoming SW movie has been confirmed to be set in The Old Republic, I'm hoping it'll exceed these trailers lol
No problem, I enjoyed watching them! Im hoping for the same, I'd love to see them beat these epic battle scenes!
Personally, think The Old Republic ''Deceived'' trailer is the best star wars trailer. Its just so epic.
"Since an upcoming SW movie has been confirmed to be set in The Old Republic, I'm hoping it'll exceed these trailers lol"
Unlikely.
@@BlueDebut You do make a valid point
Wow you really know the old republic! Thanks for the breakdown!
@@NothinNerdy it's a star wars game that's worth your time. Hope you give it a try. And enjoy the ride because it's a wild one lol
Grew up watching these and love them just wish disney would grow a pair and do this
Love your knowledge of Star Wars. This game is amazing from a story point of view lol
4:57 "My gosh, how does he survive that?" should be on Malgus' tombstone, assuming he ever actually dies (doubtful).
Every time she says how or questions a force ability I think about what sidious said in episode 3
XD
Dear lord, Malgus just doesn't quit. Tanks wish they could take the kind of punishment he does and keep going.
the guy who made this changed some of the dialog
Rly? Didn't notice. What parts??
I heard the same thing! I read it in the comments section of the original video. Not sure why they would change it though
@@NothinNerdy nah they released a few versions of these trailers, ur fine
@@whitekryptonite thanks so much for clarifying!
@@whitekryptonite even if that is so, the version of Hope and Deceived that she watched didn't have the dialogue that officially released with the game. So, at least for me, it's just not the right dialogue. I've even seen those versions before today, so I don't know how widespread this alternate dialogue was. As far as I'm aware, the versions of Hope and Deceived that she watched are not considered the "official" or "final" dialogue, but I'm not certain of that. Like I said, this is the first time I've seen any alternate dialogue for any of these trailers, and I've been following the game since well before it came out.
"You won't see this in a SW movie". Di$ney* movie. There, fixed it for ya.
I'm pretty late on this. The jedi with yellow lightsabers are the Jedi sentinels, yes some were at the temple but I guess they're not seen at the moment. We forget that there were many Jedi so maybe there were some there in the battle.
Political Karstark they also didn’t exist. Pretty sure they were invented for the Clone Wars
Why is the narration completely different in these clips? Ive watched the same cutscenes before but this is the first time they say something else
Others have said the same thing. But then someone mentioned that they released different versions
I never knew that
I think they rerelased the trailers worth new voice overs and tweeks to the edits
you can get Nico Okaars duster in the game
Yeah, peace talks were going on. Plus this was 10000 years before the Jedi in episode 1 and up. So there were no temple guards back then. This incident and a few others are what gave them the notion of temple guards.
The daughter is born stronger than Valkorion
No she wasn't. She was mentally unstable and always a danger to herself and everyone around her.
@@Bellthorian she is. Its why Valkorion put her under mind control by the Priests on Napthema so that she would never take over his throne by force, as he knew she have the potential to surpass someone as strong as himself. She seemed mentally unstable due to the rituals that was done to her to keep her under control.
If the trailers are anything to go by, sith are very hard to kill. At least Sith Lords are.
The KOTOR takes place 3-5 Millenium before the prequel trilogy. You can tell simply because the Sith aren’t applying the *Rule of Two* yet
The hilt smack was so great when first watching the 3rd trailer
so there are two reasons as to why the jedi temple guards are not there during the decieved tralier. the first is the fact that the SWTOR game im pretty sure came out before the clone wars TV series, and as such the characterisation of the temple guards dorning the iconic mask and yellow saber was not yet established as cannon. The Second is partially my own opinion but as SWTOR is set in the old repubilic era, the temple guards didnt have a standardised uniform established at least not until perhaps after the the sacking of coruscant. just my opinion though
GLORIOUS CHAOS
And Jedi don’t usually need guards. They can handle themselves....right
the problem you had about the third trailers security?
Dramatic pauses are very good, never lose them or forget them.
you NEVER stand between momma bear and her child ^^;
great reaction btw!
Thanks! 😊
Great, heartfelt reaction. You kinda look like Grandmaster Satele Shan ! (and coming from me that's one huuuuuge compliment) ;)
Awww thanks!!😊
@@NothinNerdy oooh I never saw you replied til a year later. I stand by my comment :)
Awwww! You're so sweet! 😊
the idea of how the jedi temple was they thought they were untouchable That was definitely not the case In the deceived trailer
I think the Temple Guards and better security came after this Jedi Temple.... experience
She isn't their daughter because swtor is 300 years later.
Darth Malgus is so OP
If you think about it most Star Wars stories don't end that well lol
Just wanted to say, during the time of the old republic the sith pretended to want peace and made all the masters of the Jedi order leave the temple leaving only their personal security detail, a couple knights, and their apprentices. During this time the sith, who is the same person for the first three "episodes", masses a strike force and takes the temple and Coruscant and holds it as ransom. It is because of these events that the Jedi would later train the temple guards who wielded the yellow lightsaber. But this is a also Legends and has no connection to any canon star wars media
Alderan has always been a target for the Empire....
Think of it this way.....I'm sure the REPUBLIC regarded the Jedi as a magical supernatural person.....and with a whole temple full of em....why would they need protection....they have that themselves.....or the troop transport....who thinks someone would smash a ship into a building? Right....lol
Its a gold colored lightsaber hon.....😉
Nice reaction, but I still I don´t know why they changed the voice actors and dialogue in Hope and Deceived.......
I love the lightsaber battles. I love the Empire and watching the jedi die. xD All of my toons are DS and Empire aligned.
Ah Satele Shan descendant of Bastila Shan and Revan so yeah awesome
lil late ,the galactic timeline is worth the listen /all in up one vid in yt/swtor story/its explain a lot even if you played the game .narrating with Lance Henriksen/personally i found better the whole story than any movies made.
The reason some things look drastically different is because the game takes place 1,000 years before the movies.
Satele Shan is my 2nd fav character in canon after Mara Jade...
and YES they are canon because canon is what the fans make it.
Also whats with the new dialogue in the return trailer? the other one was better..
Kneel before the dragon of zakuul!
To explain the Jedi Temple trailer, this was thousands of years ago. The Jedi thought they were safe so lack of security. The Jedi that died was a Jedi Master so he wasn't a Temple guard.
Daniel Shmitka he was the grandmaster, not just a master
@@ZionStrickland was important for a chapter of the book and suck in general. I don't call anyone a grandmaster for being sloppy.
This may be echoing an idea that is already here, but if you like and have Twitter or something I can send you a link to the original version of "Return"
To be honest that when is far more ominous than the one you saw also just a word of advice you may want to use headphones because there was an echo in this.
This is an old video and echo has since been fixed👍 yes on Twitter so feel free to send the videos! I actually just reached out to some of my viewers on twitch about which are the original videos and to send me links.
@@NothinNerdy if you like I can actually show some DIY projects of PS3 and Xbox 360 headset rigs that would be a really good way to save a lot of money and all you need are the right parts.
When it comes to information and sometimes being a MacGyver for gaming and stuff it's one of those things I love to do.
Malgus is the one Sith satele feared. She refused to talk about Malgus
Also malgus after being blasted into a mountain killed 3 more jedi before getting medical attention.
The voice over for the middle trailer (Hope) is wrong. The last trailer (Deceived) also has the wrong voice over.
Pain makes one stronger in the Dark side of the Force. We don't just love our scars we welcome it
The Rule of two is the utmost affermation of power.
Through Victory, my Chains will be broken."
This is the Code of the Sith.
And it is why they only walk the path of self-destruction.
WTF? Did they change the voice over in the third trailer?
You need to see Star Wars SC38
Yellow is only for sentinels, realy rare jedies!
3500k years before clone wars and trilogy
so did you get passed vaylin it has been awhile since you posted this was just curious.
