Love your motivation and energy dude...
Thanks!!! Appreciate that
Hey Dave,
Miss your videos, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated all of your efforts in sharing all of your knowledge. I have learned so much from you, are the best!
Sorry to hear about your mom, heaven just got a little brighter!
Hope your doing well.
I still post on instagram & TikTok. Some knifemaking here & there… thank you, really appreciate that!!!
Hey Dave. Nice to see your video after a long .always love your bevels and mistakes u made☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
Thank you... Hope all is well my friend, have a great weekend.
Dave great video lots of info
follow you all time doing knives or tattoos..👏🤙✌
Thanks, really appreciate that
Great video just happened acrossed it great tip for a newbie like me i will definately test them out tomorrow thanks
Right on.. yeah I stopped making knifemaking tutorial to pursue tattooing... Good luck!!!
I love that you freehand, it's how I've been learning and I prefer it over using a jig with all of it's limitations. I need to learn how to heat treat and eventually would line to learn how to forge my own steels. Thank you for the informative videos brother.
Right on, just keep getn it... I've got a bunch of heat treat videos, even a couple how to build an oven. Good luck
Great video. I started with a jig, but you don’t get the feel for bevel grinding on a in. Glad I switched. Thanks Dave…and we are still watching brother.
Right on, yeah if people didn't use them as crutches, jigs would actaully be beneficial... Thanks for the support
Man I've been missing you brother!
Thanks!!! Def. been a while
Thanks for the video, have been missing them. I learned all of my free hand grinding techniques from you, you make it easy! Thanks again!
Hey no problem... That's awesome, thanks for the support
Yeah man. Free hand till I die.
You know it... 100%
a little rusty Dave? but you know a jig does have it's place, in the beginning to teach you the proper angle! getting the angle right is a major pain until you've done some!
Na, just got too focused on the bevels & didn't flatten the steel. I don't plan on making a knife, so I skipped a bunch of steps(didn't even drill holes). If you watch this video, you don't need "angles". I mean I guess you're right, I don't understand how holding a metal jig teached you angles, but if it works, I can't knock it... Have a good one my friend
@@evaderknives it's the vertical part that throws a lot of people off Dave, it's an unnatural feeling compared to a downward flat angle i think it has to do with the height of it too! at least for me it's just easier to work looking down on whatever! and i was talking just a simple wooden angle block not a metal production jig , just something to help you learn what that angle looks and feels like! you know if i'm doing an angle down on a say a belt sander upside down in a vice that's real easy for me to get the angle right but on a vertical i have to see that from the side to get the angle right at first i just can't get the feel on vertical angle grinding just by free handing right off i need that block to check with at the atart.
And hey ki watched the whole video cuz I always learn from you! But don't shot on us Damascus makers man! We love to forge and make knives we just love the patterns!
Can't help it... I just don't understand, spend all that time & money. A week of use and it all patinas over, pattern gone. Unless you don't use it, then well... hahaha. I'm actually going to a guys house on Sat to try forging. Should be interesting.
@@evaderknives not true man I've got several of my Damascus blades I use in my kitchen all the time still look beautiful. Yeah they have some patina spots but not enough to ruin the pattern
@@shepardsforgeh2031 Right on, that damascus that Tyler made me, can't even tell what it is. Everytime I had the discusion, I get the same answer. In this case, you know more than me, so I can admit I'm wrong... Have a good one
Hey brother love your videos your story inspired me bro, I was also a 20 year user of the same stuff my body's covered in scars too .any dog I just got a forge, 2:53 2 1by 30 belt grinders/sanders ,some 1095 and it's on .was just curious if you were still at it . Well I subscribed today so I'll be checking. Your video kick ass thanks
I try to still make knives, but most of my time is spent learning to tattoo... Knifemaking is a passion, but tattooing has been a lifetime dream... I've got a video just using a 1x30 & hand tools, so it's a good start. Good luck man
Thanks bro .and tattoos are sweet got my first at 15 I'm 51 now so you know got my share , anyways bro I'm gonna check out your ink work think I saw a few vids .🤘🤘🤘
@@jasonwise2342 damn I did stick & poke 14(85’) mom walked in signed the papers & left, only kid in 9th grade with pro tat. Did love & hate in art class the next year on my knuckles haha
I pull out to Dave. Lol sorry it's just my sense of humor 😅
