I'm in my 50s, so I grew up without the technology today. I always spent hours outdoors playing with friends and playing sports. I had almost perfect vision until my early 40s, but now I'm nearsighted and I also need reading glasses.😔
I'm really glad in general that I didn't grow up with the technology of today.

    myopia is so funny.
the eye adapting to the common environment, then we consider this a problem.
It's sorta like if we considered being muscular a problem because our common environment is the gym.
the essential difference is we like one but not the other.
btw, I had already liked the video but that outro was adorable.

I got myopia at age of 16 due to excess of close reading of books at home & now I'm 30 year old , I'm from India & I'm software engineer by profession I spend most of my day in front of laptop but what trick I use is I never look into laptop screen directly instead I use External Monitor & wireless keyboard mouse & I have kept Monitor one meter away from my eyes & increased the Text & scaling to 150% in windows laptop so that texts looks big & my suggestion is never use laptop by keeping it on lap or very near to eyes , even if you are reading any book keep it on a book stand one meter away from eyes & if you look into book by keeping it far away then myopia wont progress anymore , the only criteria to be fulfilled is never do close work for more number of hours , never read a book by holding it in hands instead keep it on a book stand & read it from minimum 1 meter away then I can assure you your myopia never progresses & if you cross 25 age then myopia progression stops ......... spending outdoors is good practice in early morning hours look into sun directly for few minutes & sun rays wont be harsh & sun light reduces the risk of developing myopia .......

1-Close up cause eye spam locking eyes on close up mode making hard to see on the distance.
2-outside time or looking at distance would help release this and restore distance vision.
3-plus would help to reduce eye spam reading, so eye don't get eye spam.
4- Dr instead of helping release this eyes spam and restore distance vision give patience minus lens.
5-minus lens make everything look really close, now eyes are lock forever on close up mode even if they look far away.
6-eyes never gonna reverse the eye spam and minus gonna start induce eye axial increase because light start going beyond the retina, that how minus works, push the light back to reach the retina and give clear image, but image goes beyond inducing eye to get longer and more myopic.
7-eye power fluctuate a lot, visiting the eye Dr a lot mean more chance of getting a stronger prescription in a day your vision is really bad.
8-every time you up the prescription eyes get more eye spam and minus lens induce more axial change.
9-if you read with glasses and use it all day long you have a big chance of getting very high myopia, if you just use glasses for distance is more like that you stay low myopia.

How can you explain my case then?
I was born hyperopic, at 1.5 yrs old the doctor diagnosed me with +2.50 in both eyes; My parents took me to the optometrist because i couldnt reach for things close to me.
As i grew older, my prescription started to become myopic, i went from a +0.50 to a -1.25 in a year and then from -2 to -7 in almost 2 years (from 15 to 17). My parents always denied me glasses and said i needed to "train my vision" by doing eye exercises and looking at things far away, which gave me headaches and id say made me more myopic. Now im 21 and two years ago i bought my first pair of glasses with my own money, i went from -8.25 to a -7 in these two years, my doctors say "its a miracle" because people with over 6 degrees (+/-) dont really change prescriptions for good after the eye stops "growing" after puberty. Glasses CAN make you more myopic but ONLY if you use glasses that dont have your prescription on them.,,

If I had the ability to relive my entire childhood by going outside more knowing it would curb the progression of my myopia, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Beating a high myope sucks.

I’ve been on my device since my teen years. I still don’t have glasses but I have astigmatism 0.5 rt and -1 lt eye. The secret is not straining your eyes. And the screen is the lowest comfortably possible, no more than the brightness of the room. I’m constantly shifting my brightness throughout the day.

The normal eye controls its refractive STATE to its average of Accommodation.
Always, since the eye is designed that way.

Welcome to Adelaide. My daughter and I realy enjoy your videos. I have advanced bilateral keratoconus and wear scleral contact lenses. Recently I have seen advertisements for Ultrasonic Cleaner with Contact Lens Case supposedly for use with conact lenses. I was wondering if these are safe to use with RGP lenses? TIA

Advice: Spend at least 2 hours outside as it's much brighter!
Me, in England: Turns on the lights at 2pm whilst squinting at the giant black rain clouds "it's always brighter outside, is it?" 🤔
Go outside for 2 hours - I don't think we have 2 hours of acceptable weather each day 😅

30 years ago i had to get glasses in year 3 or 4 for near sightedness. I read a lot of books as a kid. Been a slow decrease to -2.5. And now need computer distance glasses. I wish it would stay stable long enough to get lasik .

Heya Antonio, i don't know if you reply to comments but i have a question
I've been diagnosed recently with strong Tritanopia. I'm in my early 20's and I've been wanting to get those color correction glasses since I was diagnosed but i cannot seem to find glasses for Tritanopia anywhere, I've also searched online but no one seems to sell those type of glasses and i don't wanna buy the sketchy lookin ones because It's quite expensive to get something from ouside here in Argentina. Do you know where i can find ones? I would really apreciate it ; )

I am 19 years old and I have - 6.5 number of glasses even none of my parents wear specs, I am thinking about lasik surgery after 23, would that be right?, because I can't reduce my screen hours which sometimes hit 10 hours as my online classes are scheduled for such hours and as I have CA exams, I can't even go outside for 3 months 🥲, but yes I will try to study in that room from where sunlight comes

Spherical diopter usually comes with cylinder strength which you didn't mention. Stronger cylinder compensates here 0.50 diopter

I had a cylindrical power of -0.50 in both the eyes and axis was 180 in both the eyes, and now recently I got my eyes checked and now the cylindrical power is -1.00 in left eye and -1.75 in the right eye and axis changed to 10⁰ and 170⁰ respectively. Is it possible or my eyes power is incorrect??
I'm facing headache with the new glasses🥲
