We just went through our 2nd hurricane (Milton) with this one. Multiple days for each. Now that we're in our forever home, we'll get the hookup installed to run the whole house.

My father-in-law gifted my wife and I with this generator today to prepare for hurricane season at our house. Bought a 30foot 50amp cable and had an electrician install a 30/50amp outlet on the outside of my house with a transfer switch in the breaker panel in the garage. My father-in-law has the same generator and setup at his house and after Ian it was nice to go sit inside the A/C. Generator was on sale at Home Depot, $1600, the cable was $150 and the electrician installation was $975. Well worth the money if you ask me.

Have you looked in to the electric start issue at all? contacted company or anything? Curious about their response. Good video.

Watch these vids on people competing to make the quietest gen shed. If you need to operate your generator there are neighbors who will be running their generator at the same time, don’t care how loud it is just keep me warm!

I fell for the whole generator shed bs, and wasted a bunch of money. In the end, you just want power. No one cares about noise when the power is out. Just went 36 hours without power here in Houston last week. Some people had Briggs, some people had standbys. We had our Honda ES6500, which runs like a sewing machine. I will admit, I would love to be able to run the larger of our two ac units, but tossing my Honda for a Duromax probably isnt going to happen.

Used one during a week without power. We did about 8 hours a fill up alternating between AC and microwave. At night, it went to about 9 - 10 hours with minimal load. Cooking dinner was done on propane griddle so I think that helped. How do you like the cover? I bought a GenTent, but I a looking at purchasing that style now.

cover is good, makes filling it up with gas a bit trickier - but overall good especially when its raining / snowing. Thanks for sharing and commenting... overall it's been a great generator.

If you don’t know what splash oiling means, you probably don’t know that synthetic oil that you showed is not meant for any generator until it has had a chance to (break in) meaning seating the rings on the piston to the cylinder walls! My DuroMax is 6 years old and doesn’t use a drop of oil! Ditch the synthetic, put petroleum based oil in it, run it a few times under load for a few hours, if you haven’t ruined the engine you could notice a decrease in oil consumption!!!!

Curious what fuel consumption is like. I just bought the tri-fuel 13000 it has not arrived yet and I intend to plumb and connect to our natural gas. I want to do avoid using regular gasoline because I guess it can come up the carburetor. Propane is my preferred fuel I don't know consumption rate. Any thoughts?

Duromax on their website stat that this thing will run for 17 hours at 25% load 8.5 hours at 50% load... I my use and testing ...I'll believe that as I typically run this thing from 11-15 hours in my use before I need to refill with gas... all things said, that is not bad... fill up in morning, fill up at night for a power outage.

Thanks for the video. Can I ask where did you get the cover from for your generator? Have you ever ran your generator in the rain with that cover on it? Thanks again.

yes for sure ran in rain (and snow) with cover on. no issues. just have to ensure it can breath... here is a link to the cover www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0817GWV8C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Like others, I wondered about both fuel consumption and how well the unit runs /starts on propane.

    • @willsfrantz
      @willsfrantz  9 месяцев назад

Haven't used it on propane. Runs great overall on gas just gulps through it fairly quickly.

Start on gas first warm it up a little turn off the gas valve, let the carb run out of gas , it will start much easier then on propane!!!

  • @triggersights

I own this generator and planned on using only propane. After 14 hours it would no longer start on propane. The internet is full of these complaints. I now have to start mine on gasoline to warm up, then I can switch to propane. Thats a bummer because gasoline can become unstable and I never wanted to put gas in it.

I got one of these and I can't recommend it. I wanted the dual fuel so I wouldn't have to store gasoline. So I sold my dependable Honda 5000 got this one. Put it together ran it on gasoline and propane a total of maybe 30 minutes and put it in storage. I did not store gas in in. Took it out today to get ready for winter. I can not start it. Their support is useless. No service center within 300 miles. Total waste of money wish I had my Honda back.

Drink oil? Bro something is wrong. Oil should need to be replaced. It should not be consuming oil. If you are constantly having to add oil something is very wrong.
