Just watched this as it popped up on RUclips. What a sensational program. So incredibly interesting and mesmerising to peek into the world before RUclips or any other 21st century technology. Life as it used to be when everything was simpler.
I find all the stories about old furniture and things found or inherited, really fascinating. Each show has its own surprises. Thank you for sharing with us.

So, there it is, folks, all about you are unknown gems in plain sight, and we must never forget that such treasures are priceless, and you will know them as people; namely your family and friends.
Excellent story about Clover/Marconi. On the picture of Marconi transforming to Cover, I stopped the video and they do have the same facial features. I really enjoyed this story. Thanks.
If I EVER came across a painting of someone's MOTHER, I wouldn't even hesitate to GIVE that person the painting, no matter the value. Smfh. I can't believe she's going to wait until she dies to hand it over to them. Smh The son of the woman in the painting will be long gone by that time, so he should get the painting 100%. We only have one damn life and I'm sure it would make that man's whole world to have that painting. It would make my world just to be able to give the painting to him too. This was very sad to me
STD were much worse in the Victorian times than they are today and some parts of London and other British cities were terrifying and very violent, everything today has happen before.
I will probably be pilloried for this but it is how I feel. I have watched the AR since its inception and this afternoon watched all three parts of this mini series. It reminds me of the England I grew up in, went to school in and started work in. All three episodes are full of English ( Scots and Welsh too) people who all look english, speak english correctly and behave like English people. This was my world and I am very sad to say we seem to be rapidly discarding this world for something our politicians have dreamt up and told us must now be the normal. How we live now will never be the normal for me and I suspect there are still many who feel as I do.
The world has been watered down with sewage, but since that is all that this and upcoming generations will ever know...they are content with it. And will pillory ANYONE who points that out.
SOMETHING YOU WOULDN'T NORMALY HEAR ON THE ANTIQUES ROAD SHOW 'And where did you acquire this beautiful piece?' 'I inherited it from my grandfather who was a burglar'.
The story at 31:50 of the "Betty Clover" painting is very heartwarming. I find the thoughtfulness of the current owners to respect the painted woman's family's quite honorable. In my opinion, this is one of the best examples for keeping tradition alive beyond the short stay on this mortal plane. A kind reminder that there is more to the British people than the unsavory "Blonde Buffoon" playing with economy and politics like they would do in a personal monopoly game.
Well, you can't swear on British TV... Something my fellow countryman Erling Haaland learned in an interview. He said "Shit"... The response was ; "Steady on with the language !" Haaland flushed, and mumbled "Oh shit"... (Now in Norway "shit" isn't considered swearing at all. It simply means "muck"...)🤣🇧🇻
So where did the table come from? From the style I´d guess it was for some very rich French people or even Napoleon himself as he went to Egypt for a campaign? Does anybody know who carved such a wonderfull, piece I lived in Oberamergau for 15 years and the carving is not that good but would have taken a long time to build, is there any clue to the date of manufacture?
I think it is French and made for Napoleon´s Campaign in Egypt, it was very expensive when made but probably made so much as 2 people really wanted it. The woodcarving is not excellent but it would have taken a long time and the new top is terrible. Was the origin ever found out?
When my mother went into care i had the council finance team on my back all the time to find out how much she was worth to pay for care. I assume they either had enough money to pay for private care, or never told the council. 😉
Why on earth would anyone put such a gorgeous item (the cigarette box) - worth so much - in a Safe Deposit Box - where nobody would ever see it again!!! 😮😮😮 What a WASTE…
The. cup was originally Greek in design specifically for the Spartans so that every soldier received the same amount of wine. They led very austere lives and this was their luxury before a battle and again after in celebration that they made it back. They continue to be produced but not for the Greek army!
If there's one thing that this episode has proven, it's that these "experts", while they may know precisely what the object is, have very little idea of it's actual value. Being off by 10% or 20% is understandable, markets fluctuate and auctions often have bidding wars, but to be off by a factor of 200%? 300%? 400%? That's an entirely different matter altogether.

A myth. Life is MUCH simpler now. Alexa by itself makes my life so much simpler than in the 90s.

😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Great of all of you. Ohhhh your mom is doing cartwheels of happiness seeing her cottage restored for others to enjoy.
Facinating episode. Specially the painting.
Just how wonderful Michael Aspal is too.
That was wonderful in every way. Thank you.
Wotta beautiful moment. A brilliant story and a happy ending to a beautiful picture of a beautiful woman ❤
That beautiful girl, so beautifully painted.
Wonderful.
I love seeing elderly pensioners finding out they have a valuable treasure.
Fabulous programme absolutely fascinating the stories behind these wonderful pieces of art. Thank you for putting this together. 🥰🏴🇬🇧
That portrait Marconi story is wild! 🤩
That art deco cigarette case will haunt me in my dreams. What an amazing piece of art
Well, that beauty was sold for 6875pounds in 2008
I'm sure it will haunt the person who sold it at a car boot sale too!
I bet if they still had it they would get so much more now but what an investment on £20.00 poor car lot person lol😂😂
The home turned out so beautiful..your mother left you more than a unique table..
We've appreciated so much these great episodes that you've posted. Hope to see more!
Astonishing episode! The intriguing painting of the snazzy socialite with a mysterious past is wonderful.

Especially in her baby picture...
Hi, sounds like a good movie! :)
What an absolute beautiful cottage. Enjoy
I cannot but agree that that table is grotesgue.
The cigarette case, on the other hand, is superb.
Thank you. I thought it was hideous.
What a brilliant programme thank you from New Zealand
The puzzle kits for prisoners of war are fascinating!!
There were other things like monopoly boards with real money and maps glued between layers of the boards
@@boredincan Wow! Thank you!

Wich only proves the Brits were the "Clever Clogs", and the POW guards were the "Dummkopfs"....😉
What a beautiful woman my heart jumped when I saw her smiling wow
Michael Aspell ….. a very mild gent , congenial , affable and old school decent. He and all his cohorts are much missed by many .
What a great episode.. 👍🇬🇧
Very interesting story. Thanks for posting.
ANOTHER GREAT EPISODE! THANK YOU! AND BLESS YOU ALL!
Hi June. I love watching these knowing that you too are enjoying them too somewhere.
Brilliant love all this from Perth Western Australia
With today's genetic testing - the Marconi / Clover connection could easily be proved ( or dis-proved ).- worthy a episode in itself.
Why would they want to? I think somethings are better left alone, it didn't bother them.
I've never seen this episode before. Brilliant!
Thank you! Wonderful!
The story behind the painting was lovely.
Just to hear words pronounced properly gives me hope. That's cigarette case was my favourite, small, beautiful and an amazing find.

She is a good woman because she will return to the family! Honestly....i would sell it!
I do wonder just how many lovely things are squirreled away in the dark in banks.
That painting and the history of the model is fascinating. Sparks the immigration.
That was really special. ❤
Great show. Love from LA, California by a Hungarian whose favorite show is AR.
These 3 parts of AR Greatest Finds are worth watching. Is that an under statement? Most certainly.
Watch the American version big buck finds
❤❤❤Betty was GORGEOUS. What a wonderful story ❤️ ♥️ loved the orange dress too❤
The story about betty clover goes to show what a wild time the early 1900's was
It's all been done before, it's just that each generation think they invented drugs, sex and wild times.
@@christinagiannaros9817 true, in the 1900's you had people saying "back in my day" too.

Loved the saga of the cigarette case.
I’d love to visit with the puzzle man and see his collection.

Wonderful storage cabinets
Too cute ... Thank you for sharing..
what a wonderful story about the portrait of Betty
It seems like antique roadshow is more about people's lives and histories than it is about anything else
That's a fair observation, and what makes such good viewing.
Betty is sensationally beautiful, an absolutely breathtaking stunner. And she has beautiful teeth........ Very unusual.
Refinishing that beautiful table was probably the biggest mistake they could have made
They said restored, not refinished.
It was always to be wood, not gilding 😢🤫🇬🇧
@@garybrockwell2031 it was restored to its original state.
Agree. It was already a bit strange piece and the gilding was it's end. 😢
To you a mistake.
But that is a piece of art, the carving in that is amazing and some day someone will walk in and buy it.
DNA test would be sensible between Marconi descendants and family of the girl from the painting
Proper entertainment on tv not like the absolute tripe there showing these days

28:50 the camera man was gutted. He had a great angle to catch her reaction in the mirror, and she didn't have one.
Love the Betty story!
Can you imagine that old guy standing in line with that carved wooden table, inching closer to the front?
Puzzle owner....'Amazing to think that it was around at the time of |William the Conqueror'. Aspel.....'12th Century' !!!!
That cigarette case put my mums kangaroo one to shame😂. Gosh that was beautiful ❤
That redone table looks so much worse to me! I’m inclined to agree with the appraiser that something about it doesn’t quite work together properly
I think it is French and made for Napoleon´s Campaign in Egypt, it was very expensive when made but probably made so much as 2 people really wanted it.

The "ladies" on the table look like they belong on the front of ships.
Back in the day when the ARS was worth watching(unlike today) with the urbane Michael Aspel
How very British of you.
Love the puzzle guy!
Where was Betty Clover from, does anyone know? Somewhere in the North of England they mentioned, but where exactly?
Betty stole the show, hands down, even after getting her wings.
Don't know season or episode...but I love the Milanese helmet from the 1500s.
Its not my taste but surely someone will love that table !
nice shows. Funny to see the stiff upper lip class still exist and the limp lower pout in France at Bucheron ... LOL
the table behind the lady in the green sweater with the eagle. Was that part of Prince Edward and Wallace Christy sale???
Betty sounds awesome.
Wonder if some of the treasures found at car boot sales and such were possibly pinched from original owners then presented for sale at modest venues.
Hideous table.
I’m still looking. For treasures at used stores
thank you . ( 2023 / Nov / 12 )
Aku suka lemari antik yg banyak lacinya itu lho, luarbiasa bro
One thing that AR got wrong was they didn't always say how long between the estimates and the sales at auction.
How can we know, get some information, if items we possess are of value?? How can we contact your group??
So odd to hear Primal Scream's "Loaded" in the background of the boot sale montage.
And an ‘Air’ track playing during another segment :)
So sad that that beautiful cigarette box is sitting in a dark drawer. What a waste. Use it or sell it to someone who will.
Exactly what I was thinking. They should be enjoying it.
That boucheron piece is stunning.
Cigarettes are nasty any way
I agree, or at the very least have it on display and enjoy it.
Otherwise what is the point of its existence !
Now charity shops get things valued
They do, but things still slip through. Especially unusual things and china.

I think that what Antiques Roadshow really tells us is that when some pieces go on sale, there are too many people with Too Much Money!!
Why didn't they sell the cigarette case? Surprised
Did the henshaws sell it I wonder
why don't they just do a DNA test on the relatives of the little girl in the painting and compare it to Marconi's descendants?
