The way that Michael described his learning process is SO. FKIN. RELATABLE. I have ADHD and dyslexia and I just don't learn well in a normal classroom environment, none of my teachers could deal with my comprehension speed, bc they'd have to explain a concept multiple times. But the thing was, if I actually understood it, I GOT IT. I could remember it and use my knowledge, so it's not like I was an idiot, it just took a bit more effort for me to understand and retain information.
god, i feel that. i don't have dyslexia, but i do have adhd and another undiagnosed issue (as in doctors know something's up beyond the adhd, they're just not sure what), and i also learn much slower than everyone else. it takes me a lot longer to grasp the same concepts, but once i finally get past that wall, im good to go. unfortunately most teachers aren't paid enough to care about that, so i get left behind in nearly every single class. the school system just isn't made for anyone who can't cram info into their brains at insane speeds ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think the way is we need things explained a very specific way that other people just don't seem to understand, and we can't explain ourselves very well because it's so rare to find it done
This is the man who once explained that he gets 8 hours of sleep a day because he chugs Red Bull and works continuously before crashing for hours, so it's roughly 8 hours per 24 hour period. I would be entirely unsurprised if Michael's ultimate goal with his robots is to put his brain in one and escape the frailties of the flesh entirely.
I actually didn't get that part of the video. They said it wasn't his pee that went black, his vision had like black corners like tunnel vision, then what went black? His vision? Like they didn't especify that his vision went from being tunneled to completely black, but they only said his pee wasn't black. Maybe I'm just extremely dumb, but I don't understand what exactly went black.
@@diegon3045 It was his vision that went black, like an Instagram filter but it happened to his vision during that moment which he seems to never had have after.
I loved hearing Dr Mike talk about Aneurysms. My father actually passed away from one about 19 years ago, and at the time there wasn't allot of information about it. Thank you Dr Mike!
this kid is brilliant, we need to have another educational system to adapt and adjust to kids who study differently and on different pace, coz the normal system is failing brilliant kids like him!!!! imagine if we give special tools to kids like him, the world will be so different
I'm a high school dropout with an iq of 130. I met so many other people like me while in alternative education, it sucks how some people slip through the cracks because we learn differently.
It sucks how our schools are structured to create office workers and factory workers. It also sucks how a college degree can't even guarantee a decent job.
Michael doesn't like inspiring people because he knows he's always one REALLY BAD idea from becoming a supervillain, and most people can't handle that power.
My mother had 2 aneurysms in 13 months, and she's totally fine, went back to life the same. Her first one actually burst. Thank you to the doctors at Harborview medical center in seattle!
Caio Prado, literally nobody says that. It would be “the United States healthcare system” if you’re being pedantic about the term “America” being used to describe the United States of America, as it has been for ages by US citizens and other countries.
The fact that he didn’t go to the doctor because he didn’t have health care is something I just can’t comprehend. It is ridiculous that people are literally scared to go to the doctors because they might become bankrupt. I’m very grateful for the NHS. I 100% would prefer paying a little bit of tax for universal healthcare for literally anyone rather than paying thousands of pounds in one go
I think he just didnt feel like it was too serious. He makes good money from youtube and twitch if he wanted insurance it wouldn't be much to him. He could also afford a doctor visit and most places charge a lot less if you don't have insurance cause it's a lot easier to process. Government screwed up healthcare here though.
It's crazy as there are enough people in America with the opinion that they will just pay for all medical emergencies and Country but the government says no because communism was it?
@@FrancisR420 I don't think the people understand what the true problem is and all the negatives of having a nationalized healthcare system. If the average person here was told they would have to wait months for a minor surgery they would absolutely lose it. Americans are notoriously impatient.
@@edd542 WTH are talking about? I have an American friend who broke her wrist in 3 places, all the ER did was wrap it. She ended up sitting in a recliner for over 3 months, with her arm up & the bone sticking out. 8 months later, after many calls & completing tons of paperwork, a surgeon gave an estimate of $18k-$22k for surgery. All total, it was 16 months & two surgeries later before she was halfway able to use her wrist again.
The irony of a doctor unironically playing Plague Inc is delicious. Makes me think of some poor dude coming home after a full day of dealing with the kind of stupid cases you'd see on House or something and just wanting to set the world on fire.
It’s not deja vu, it’s just a glitch in life… In my case oftentimes caused by the glare from the sun off the kitchen sink aggravating a migraine aura that is then followed by further visual glitches as well as auditory, then leading to an extreme headache on one side, nausea and vomiting as well as a loss of sensation in extremities… similar to if you have a stroke and commonly mistaken as such so… fix the sun in the next update, it’s also heating up the planet too much 🤨 Migraine is a very annoying possibility permanent neurological debuff to life in general, it’s interruptive. Can also cause weirder glitches like Alice in Wonderland Syndrome that sometimes makes the world 2D, it’s one of the things that makes you feel like I’m crazy because there’s no way that things are suddenly this close or I can’t be too big to fit into this room and how do I explain this? But then it goes away fairly quickly and it’s just like meh. Until eventually you’re reading neurological studies, as everynobody does and then it’s just like oh, it’s the migraines. Well that makes sense since it’s usually during one 🤔 It was just weird to me that people go to the ER with those symptoms, it was something that was brought up during a routine checkup that I had a lot of headaches but didn’t need glasses 🤔 but also, yes you should since a stroke can happen even when you’re young and healthy, there are many things that can cause them apart from age and then you can die pretty quickly 🤷♀️ unless dying is your better option I guess, or that’s just your attitude when something happens to you. Ignore it and it’ll probably go away? 🤔

A girl I grew up with had 2 brain aneurysms. She was on the phone with her Mom when it happened and she goes something like “Mom I feel funny”. She survived but she had to relearn how to walk, talk, almost everything. This was like 10+ years ago and she’s married and has kids of her own now.
I also worked with a girl as newspaper couriers and she had an aneurysm. We were all waiting for our papers and she bent over grabbing her head all of a sudden and I asked if she was okay she said "yeah I just have a bad headache", she delivers with her mom and her mom said she passed out later that night and took her to the hospital where she ended up in a coma and she was pronounced braindead so they took her off the life support. It was really sad, all of the couriers even made a big card and we all signed it too..

Man, the part where Michael talks about how he learns slower than others makes me admire him even more. I struggle with the same issue. Learning in a classroom stresses me out as well because I sometimes can't cope with how fast the information is coming at me and I feel a bit embarrassed to ask the teacher to repeat the concept. Then COVID struck and classes were online and the lectures got recorded. This was heaven for me. I could rewind and go over the same concept multiple times until I got it. Literally, my GPA shot up from 3.5 to 4.0 because of this.
See I did the opposite of that. I learned best in a classroom where I knew most of my other classmates. I could get help from them about the information that the teachers taught very poorly/in a way I didn't understand. However during the current virtual school year I couldn't do that and my gpa dropped from around 3.2 to around 2.6 because I don't learn well there. My grades went from A's and B's to C's and D's but I know I'll go back to getting better grades the second I get out of virtual school next year.
Oh gosh I am the slowest ever at work! I just can’t do it. My brain works at its own speed and it’s not like everyone else’s. I might have adhd so that’s something I have to think about now. quarantine was actually kinda fun because I could take a break and go my own speed. I could listen to music and watch RUclips while working. I had time to enjoy my days and find hobbies! It was still hard at the same time because I would work most of the day but overall it was an amazing time in my life. The worst part for me was seeing how many people were dying :(
this thread is exact proof of why the education system doesn't work. People learn in different ways and yet we're all cooped up in one classroom and they just assume that we can learn the same things at the same time at the same rate. Humans are more complicated like that and to think that we're all the same especially in terms of learning is wrong
I made the Dean's List for the first time during COVID. I got an A+ on my honours thesis. Not sure I could have if I had to be IN school the whole year. I went to school for lab work and everything else was at home. I would take every course I possibly could online so that I could stop, pause, rewind - or sometimes put it on fast forward lol. I don't know much about Michael but it made me wonder if he also has ADHD - some people with ADHD need the external structure a classroom provides, but I find a lot of us learn best when its self-directed like that.
@@toast8641 Wow, someone I can relate to. Same thing for me, I study better in a classroom because I'm able to work with friends and discuss etc etc. but when there's none of that, 📉
Tbf, I have great insurance, that we don't pay for (military) and i still don't go to the doctor because i don't want to. Chest pain? Eh, maybe it'll pass. Legs give out when you stand up? Whoopsie. "If I die, I die." God, this is so relatable. I don't have insurance either. I literally cannot afford the price to live if I need to go to the hospital.
Is it expensive ? Sorry Im not educated on this matter as we have free healthcare. If it is expensive, doesn't it inevitably discriminate poor people from getting healthcare, which is a basic human need?
Save up and apply citizenship somewhere with less shitty healthcare? Edit. The comment wasn't intended to be mean spirited or haughty in any way. If it came out like that, then that was *not* the intent and purely results of me being short on time when I wrote it and few folk assuming ill intent from it where there was none. Don't be a sheeple. Think for yourself. Ask for clarification if you are unsure about someone's tone in a comment, it is healthier and might genuinely lead to fun conversations.
My aunt fell down backwards in her driveway, blood vessel in the back of her head ruptured a little bit. She seemed fine, didn't wake up next morning. At the hospital they fixed it and she seemed fine (was awake and acting normal). Day later, stroke. Death 57, miss her dearly, if she didn't die our family would not have split the way it did
This collab gave me an awesome idea for a gift that Michael could make for Dr. Mike despite the fact that he’d never want to use it on anyone: A stethoscope with a taser built into the chest piece.
I feel this guy when it comes to learning. If I go to a classroom I have to study that small bit of info for hours and hours cause I mentally check out while reviewing, kind of like going on autopilot, and I can't remember the last 20 minutes of reading and I have to do it all over again. But if I learn the points my teacher wants me to learn, I go on RUclips and I really remember so much more, so much faster. It sucks that it took me till college to realize that I'm a very visual learner and that I am smart, I just can't learn like others can. This kid is friggin SMART man...I hope that I could accomplish even a fraction of what he has in my life (I'm old and started LATE so...)
I agree. I was born with learning differences and I learned things like 5 times slower than everyone else. It took me like 5 hours to do homework in grade 5 when most people in my school it took them an hour. So I started working even harder in school and I started competing in robotics. Now I am about to graduate high school with good grades. It's all hard work, never let them be an excuse. You are only letting yourself down from your potential if you think about it that way.
I am a fast learner, i finished school with the highest grades. yet, i don't think that people who learn slower than me have a disability. we're all talented in our own way. the fact that someone learns faster does not mean that all others are disabled somehow.
Michael Reeves is a self-made school in himself... with a creative edge & a mind of being extremely innovative / imaginative... really commendable... A budding AI scientist👏👏👏 way to go👍👍👍Greetings from India 🇮🇳
One of my very best friends in high school actually died of a brain aneurism at 16 years old, sadly. Her family said she wasn't feeling well and threw up. She went to bed and died in her sleep. Really awful.
My dad got a brain bleed when I was around 14 years old, I turn 31 this year and he's still alive and as well as he can be.. His brain took damage from it, and his speech and thinking took quite a hit, so he had quite a lot of work to do, to "come back" and recover.. He speaks fine today, just quite slow, and when he is speaking and having a conversation, if someone changes subject because they think the subject is finished, my dad will just keep talking about the subject, untill he's finished his train of thoughts about the matter.. New people meeting him, are often a little weirded out by it.. His personality also changeg a lot, and I had a very hard time getting used to the fact that the dad I had known my entire life to that point was literally gone, he was ofcourse the same "on the outside" but he wasn't the same "on the inside" so to speak.. But an important thing that was "left" of him, was his love to his family, and his sensetivity.. My dad has always been very intune with me especiaslly, whereas my mom was, and is, more intune with my older brother... Weird thing is, that I'm acting a lot like my dad, I haven't had a brain bleed or anything, BUT I was born with Schizophrenia (sadly not diagnosed untill 21), and the way it has developed through my life, has in some way always made me like a copy of my dad in the way I act... especially with the talking ^_^ when I'm talking about something I have to finish talking about it, or else I can't continue... Different reasons tho :P
Schizophrenia can't be diagnosed at birth. It can only be diagnosed when you start to show symptoms. There's no test for it or anything and there is no cure, but symptoms can be managed with medication. 21 is a common age for symptoms of schizophrenia to start. The symptoms start in late teens to mid 20's for most people. It has a very strong genetic component, so someone in your family probably has it as well. I'm glad your dad lived through his brain bleed, and that he is still a loving sensitive dad.
@@mygirldarby Ye, sadly I know that Schizophrenia can't be diagnosed at birth, but I know that children, who has it, and are symtomatic, can be diagnosed as early as 7 years of age... I don't remember a time where I didn't have symptoms (even though back the I didn't know what they were called), and the first time I was able to "speak up" about them, I was aorund 2½ years old.. My parents brushed off as my inagination, as a lot of parents would probably do, but instrad of me keeping on telling about what happened and that I was absolutely terrified about "the shadows" especially at night, I thought "they can't see them, I better stop bothering my parents about it" and just lived with it, untill, because of school I got really sick from it, at 18, and didn't get diagnosed untill the year I turned 21.. We have one other case of schizophrenia in my family, but she was viewed as a "normal kid" when she was a child, where I was always describes as being "special", by teachers.. But atleast, no matter what, my dad always had my back, even after the brain bleed.. It's really amazing how the brain works, and I feel really lucky that he wasn't (and isn't) gone for good, and how much he managed to "come back".
Some high schools do have classes to help you with life(like personal finance, economics, etc), but a lot of school districts don’t require it. Also, knowing what makes plants green is essential to having a fulfilling life.

If anyone is inspired by Michael Reeves not going to school and still being educated on his passion my dad also did the same thing.

In my case oftentimes caused by the glare from the sun off the kitchen sink aggravating a migraine aura that is then followed by further visual glitches as well as auditory, then leading to an extreme headache on one side, nausea and vomiting as well as a loss of sensation in extremities… similar to if you have a stroke and commonly mistaken as such so… fix the sun in the next update, it’s also heating up the planet too much 🤨
Migraine is a very annoying possibility permanent neurological debuff to life in general, it’s interruptive. Well that makes sense since it’s usually during one 🤔
It was just weird to me that people go to the ER with those symptoms, it was something that was brought up during a routine checkup that I had a lot of headaches but didn’t need glasses 🤔 but also, yes you should since a stroke can happen even when you’re young and healthy, there are many things that can cause them apart from age and then you can die pretty quickly 🤷♀️ unless dying is your better option I guess, or that’s just your attitude when something happens to you.

That must have been so hard on you guys! I am happy ya'll are fine tho!

Dr Mike : is that the viral thing
Me: BRUUUUUUUHHHHHHH
I- uh. I didn’t expect this collab. But I’m not complaining. We didn’t ask for it, but we needed it
Me: How do I buy a house, How do I get a job?
Schools: Chlorophyll makes plants green.
At first I read horse instead of house and was very confused.
Some high schools do have classes to help you with life(like personal finance, economics, etc), but a lot of school districts don’t require it. Also, knowing what makes plants green is essential to having a fulfilling life.

Micheal - I didn't visited the doctor, I might as just die I don't got insurance
Every doctor listening in the world : Now that's something I won't recommend my friend....

Hello Europeans! This is a NORMAL American outlook. We're that broken. Please send well wishes.
Nah its a human thing not an American thing. I fractured my forearm and took 3 days to go to the hospital, only went because my school at the time basically forced me, and I live in England where healthcare is 100% free.
@@UwU_for_Christ but you can’t deny that American Healthcare is overpriced
@@UwU_for_Christ But you had a choice. Americans basically don't. You either go to a hospital and become thousands and thousands of dollars in debt for something that wasn't your fault, or hope it's not broken and stay home. You were just being stubborn, Americans are deciding if they can literally afford that or not, and that shouldn't be the case.

I wanted to be a robotic engineer since I was younger but mike made me want to be one more
If anyone is inspired by Michael Reeves not going to school and still being educated on his passion my dad also did the same thing. We were homeless in 2008 and he taught himself coding, now he’s a big shot web developer making tons of money without even a High School Diploma. It’s really hard when you don’t have the piece of paper that says you know things, but his advice is find the job opportunity that will let you demonstrate you know what you’re doing. Once you have experience in the field you’ll be a much more lustrous candidate for a position :)
Your dad is so cool
I had an aortic rupture (and not the common one in the abdominal aorta, i’m talking thoracic) and I felt personally flattered when he said that woman was build different for surviving her aneurism 😭 like bro you can’t get rid of me! 💀
I can really relate to how Michael learns. I am 30 and I am a college freshman hoping to pursue a career in medicine. It gives me hope to know slow learners like me can achieve great things.
You got this!
I have been waiting for this collab since doctor mike reacted to the surgery robot
Same
Haha I love how he thinks with medical matters. It's always interesting to see how someone thinks - especially when they're so intelligent but yet, they don't even realize it. Awesome collab video 🙌
Hearing about a popping bladder is making me shiver. It’s such a scary, and repulsive idea that it hurts to think about.
Dr.Mike : I invested my time, money, and endless effort to track down Michael Reaves
Also Dr. Mike: U up?
Honestly, it looked like a 2 am booty call.
Michael: If I die, I die.
Wow his Filipino side is kicking in bois!
Edit: wow I never got this many likes, thanks.
Edit 2: ok so, Filipinos say If I die I die its because they dont have money to go to the doctor ( Not all its just that most of us are poor) and entrust it to God or their own body to deal with it. And since Michael said he doesnt have insurance and the healthcare in the USA is leterally expensive ( which is similar to not having money in the sense of a predicament) he exibited the If I die I die trait.
Lol
As a filipino i severely disagree and agree
No hospital till you're almost dead
@Yeeting Weirdo As a Filipino, it is definitely true.
@Yeeting Weirdo hahaha my grandpa do be like that
Michael is so good at keeping his audience controlled. If you noticed, he doesn't give in to any demands from his fanbase. You will wait because he said so. Kinda explains why most Michael stans are masochists who really like neglect play.
Also, I'm glad my fav internet doctor came out of this interview alive and well. I was worried there for a moment.
Michael doesn't just not care, if his fanbase says to upload more often he decreases his frequency of uploading videos to spite them😅🤭
