  • I traveled to Vancouver to try Filipino Foods for the first time. Watch me react to Kare Kare-Kare (Filipino peanut stew). I also tried the Filipino snack called Ding Dong.and put some on my Kare Kare. This place is amazing it is discreet but it serves the delicious home cooking of the Philippines. I also tried the Filipino snack called Ding Dong.

I love your videos Sir. I think in my opinion, there's no improper way of eating Filipino foods. As long as you're comfortable with it that's fine. Looking forward for more videos from you Sir! ☺️❤️🇵🇭

When we eat Kare Kare , we would put it over the rice on a plate, a bit of shrimp paste to our taste and mix it together a bit, then eat it. That goes for other dishes as well. For soupy dishes like Sinigang , we do the exact same thing. Put rice in a bowl and the soup over the rice with the meat and vegetables , mix it a bit then eat it. Enjoy!🙂

It's just my opinion, but there's no right or wrong way to eat. If you add an item to a dish and you like it, kudos to you for experimenting and finding out. I'm glad you enjoy eating Filipino food.

When you consider doing Philippines series, hook up and colab with Canlas TV. They can introduce you authentic filipino dishes and can even prepare them for you. Dont forget to treat yourself and soak up to the country’s beaches and paradise with warm filipino hospitality. Good luck- from Vegas..

Tastes better if it was home cooked. The difference is that the ingredients are cooked separately if it was cooked in the restaurant to make it easier to serve for diners. That means like in your serving, the vegetables are blanched and the beef are boiled to tenderness and likely it's a beef shank instead of just the ox tails. Home cooked means that initially the oxtails(the beef shank are a less expensive alternative to more meat) are boiled for some hrs and then the peanut butter stew mix with the vegetables are mixed in at the end for an additional couple dozen more minutes for the vegetables to cook with the broth.
If you really like KareKare, u can make a vegetarian or with meat KareKare Maki Rolls. I usually save the leftover stews' broth and freeze them. Had this from one of the restaurants in the Plantation Bay Resort in Cebu. I unfreeze the broth and add extra water to boil the vegetables in it. Boil off the extra water to make the broth more concentrated. Slice the cooked bokchoy, eggplant or green beans vegetables into strips into the maki roll and then add the broth&shrimp paste too. With the meat, use beef short ribs or beef shank boiled to tenderness or with the broth and then slice it to stir fry strips to add it with the vegetables into the maki roll. Make sure to warn the ppl u're serving it to be aware of the peanuts and shrimp paste for those that might have allergies to them. If u get the KareKare powder mix, there's enough youtube videos on how to cook karekare and u can make that maki roll easily with your leftovers.

@@unculturedtravel sometimes but the bagoong(shrimp paste) is salty enough. Just watch out for allergic reactions as certain bagoong regional recipes might cause a reaction. The same with different meat as I cant stand pork karekare but im ok with beef recipes.

There's a correct proportion of sauce to rice ratio. you dont want for the sauce to be overpowering your tastebuds thats why we need the blandness of rice for balance but theres no right or wrong way. ding dong on kare kare is not a bad idea, actually kare kare is often topped with crispy chicharon or bagnet and thats a popular combination.

@@unculturedtravel You can try Ginataang Gulay (Sauteed Vegetables done with Coconut Milk) or Ginataang Kalabasa (Sauteed Pumpkin done with Coconut Milk) and partner these dishes with Bagoong, Bicol Express with Bagoong.
Or you can make a sauce with Bagoong like with sliced raw tomatoes, chopped raw onions, chopped red chili (Siling Labuyo in Tagalog), sliced unripe green mango and mix it with salted duck egg - I tell you, this is really an extremely good sauce, and partner it with grilled fish like grilled Tilapia or any kind of grilled fish of your choice, or grilled beef or pork/steak, or with boiled vegetables like boiled Eggplant, boiled Okra and boiled Kangkong. ❤😋👍💯
