Djole is a mask dance where the mask represents the face of a woman, but is danced by a male dancer. The original instruments used for this dance were 4 square drums of various sizes called siko. It was the Mandenyis who brought this rhythm to Conakry. Since then, Djole has become a very popular rhythm, played at celebration events such as weddings, baptisms, harvest, end of Ramadan, and welcoming cere- monies, just to name a few.
