They live in French Guyana, a colonial state of France, just north of Brasil. French is the primary language there even among the native French Guyanese (black natives). My understanding, from interviews and reports I saw and gave read, is that they are mostly agriculturalists. (This is part of the reason why they are darker/tan.) Because they speak French primarily, the French accent has incorporated itself into the Hmong language. I can hear the strong presence of a French accent in their spoken Hmong having studied/spoken French before. Given that the spoken Hmong language is and has grossly deviated worldwide (SE Asia, China, USA, other countries), I now understand why Hmong parents are so concerned and worry about the diminishing continuity of any and all things Hmong. It is practically an inevitable trend -- in favor of foreign factors.
hmong there seem are darker skin though... lol but cool =) Also seem like most hmong there doesn't know there hmong language anymore... =\ the lady have to translated some hmong words to guyane and u can hear the crowd... good job though...
