2024 NFL Mock Draft for the Cowboys from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler:
Round 1, 24: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma
Round 2, 56: Payton Wilson, LB, NC State
Round 3, 87: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
Round 5, 174: Matt Lee, C, Miami
Round 6, 216: Xavier Weaver, WR, Colorado
Round 7, 233: Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State
Round 7, 244: Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Edge, Notre Dame
Cowboys Draft Rumors have focused heavily on an offensive lineman in Round 1. So it won’t surprise many if a player like Tyler Guyton is the pick. Here’s what Dane Brugler thinks about Guyton: “Ideally, the Cowboys would love to keep Tyler Smith at left guard, but it might depend on how this draft plays out. In this scenario, they add the raw but toolsy tackle, who they hope will be the next Tyron Smith.”
Today's Cowboys Report audience questions:
- Are you ok drafting Tyler Guyton in Round 1? Type ‘Y’ for Yes, ‘N’ for No

Cowboys Report host Tom Downey thinks Matt Lee is a sleeper in the 2024 NFL Draft. Here’s what Dane Brugler thinks: “If the Cowboys had to play a game tomorrow, the coaches would be comfortable starting Brock Hoffman at center. But they will address the position at some point in the draft. With his anchor and quickness, Lee is terrific value in the late fifth.”

Y
No. Morgan and Fautanu are better options at OT. Me personally, I think they’d be a better fit for JPJ at center
Y
Not if JPJ is available
I’d take experience and the best center in the draft than not the best tackle in the draft
Not really. They signed Royce…. That’s gonna be their excuse to not draft a RB until round 6-7.
No more drafting injured players in the 2nd rd
Are you excited for the 2024 NFL Draft? Then LIKE the video!
But I am bot excited.
No cuz they’ll screw up like last year!
Very excited
Best case scenerio is still to trade back 5-7 spots and try to add another top 100 pick to make up for the no 4th. 4 Picks in the top 100 could address some serious needs.
Yep ... stack as many pre pick 135 picks in your deck as possible ( as many up to Round 4 picks) You've gotta have hitters.
Notice that if Dallas does not have a 4th rounder is because it was traded for Lance who is a bust by N.F.L. standards. Yea Jerry Blowing again thinking he knows football.
@@hectorburgos1882 Yeahh that move made 0 sence to me, knowing damn well he wouldn't even see the field
Wilson has way too many injuries. STOP drafting injured players !
His not injured he just had surgery in the past
@@bryanfuller7121yeah 11 surgeries lol
I know...but he's so good & has such a high ceiling. Ugh, this is why the 'Boys wetting the bed in free agency sucks. There is no room for error or risk guys. They have to draft players w/ no to little injuries, despite their talent ceiling.🤨😠
We need some big nasties. We have been a finesse team to long. THAT IS OUR PROBLEM! Trade back if you can. Top of second round, and pick up an extra 3rd. See if New England could be a dance partner. I think Morgan will be there at 34, then we get T'vondre sweat with 56, Trey Benson with NE 68 pick. So we get 34 and 68 for 24. Then get Jeremiah Trotter with 87. I think we could live with those first 4 picks.
Easier said than done

Only pick I liked was Jaylen Wright
I’m not angry with the picks but I would pick the better value players at our position needs
I would be ok with this draft since we would be filling all our main needs at T, C, RB, and LB
I don’t trust the 1st 2 picks tho
A+ draft
Here are my Mock draft picks, rd1 Graham Barton OC, Rd2 Kiran Amegadjie OT, Rd3 Braelon Allen RB, Tommy Eichenberg LB, Zion Logue DT, Rd7 Josh Cephus WR, Rd7 Frank Crum OT.
Better than the players mentioned above!
I think it'll be Frazier or Kingsley.
I like your mock except after taking a big, bruising Back earlier, I’d have taken another RB, with speed and maybe cutback abilities.
@@Capncomeback2023 If you go watch his highlights he's not just a big RB he's fast and agile and very hard to take down.
Matt Lee is a guy that will always do his job and make sure the rest of the line is doing theirs

2 or 3, depending on who’s available

I don’t like guyton for first round pick. Barton or powers Johnson can come in and start right away. Guyton seems like a prospect
Yes. Fort OT
B - but this is probably one of the most realistic drafts I've seen for this year.

B I agree better OL in end 1
A+
Exactly plus Wilson is 24 all ready
Wilson is Sean Lee part 2 always injured
Pretty sure he hasn’t had an injury in 2 years
N for guyton . JPJ
Yes but he wont be there at 24. If he is there. Is because teams that need a center see red flags with conclusión issues. Conclusiones are of major concerns in NFL.
N we can’t afford another project on the Oline. Smith worked out I just see a different motor. Need a plug and ready to go OLine. My opinion BYU tackle is better.

Hell No . Cowboys can't wait for a raw player. Need someone ready to play out the gate
If you don’t take a a Center at 24, you’re getting closer and closer to another Biaddaz. We need a Frederick type Center so get the best one available in the first round!
Payton Wilson LVE 2.0 ON injuries I'll pass
I like the Kingsley kids a little more just in my opinion but guyton could be something
I agree I think it'll be Kingsley or Frazier in the first
Wilson is a red flag. Get off your knees Tom!
I’m taking Frazier over guyton, whether it’s a reach or not
Dallas knows OL.. if they like Guyton, i like Guyton. Will McClay knows what hes doing regarding the OL.
C+
But for, the injuries. NOOOOpe... gimme Cedric Gray
No I would of taken Jackson powers Johnson

C take Estme in the 3rd would be way better 2nd round pick should me the Texas linebacker!
Round 2 or 3.
Tom that's the O line Coach job , upgrade with his coaching a good young prospect. Minns going to Philly is bad news for Dallas. He is best prospect at LT. In this draft just watch. And Zack Frazier has the makings of the retired Philly Center that was a 5/6 rounder. If he is gone then the Georgia center is a good strong prospect to get as a 5th rounder, big and strong and comes from best college program the last 5 years.
Tyler Guyton looks like a short-term project player, a back-up for 2024.
Payton Wilson cannot seem to stay healthy enough to contribute. The Cowboys have had enough injured linebackers over the past few seasons. They do not need to pick a guy who has injuries from his collegiate career.
Jaylen Wright would be a better fit for the Houston Texans.
Who in the heck is Matt Lee? I am not familiar with him.
Xavier Weaver??? Chau Smith-Wade?? Jevante Jean-Baptiste? These guys are good for the all-name squad. 😂
Wilson can’t stay healthy … the last 2 years he’s played in 23 games in college
C- swing & miss in Rd 1 AND Rd 2 = Bad Draft!!!
Draft looks good except for Wilson not because of talent, but his serious injury issues should be a red flag. Get the best center available in 2nd round you will not get a good center in the later rounds 5/7. We need LT.and Strong Center in rounds one and two. RB. 3 linebacker in 5th, and 6th a RB. WR. 7th. Kansacity got Pacheco in the 7th. Thats why scouts get paid to find gems.
Trade back to aquire an extra pick can't hurt
I'm ok with Guyton and jaylen wright I like weaver just think we could have gotten wlhim with the last pick or UDFA wasn't crazy with the LB in the 2nd
Thanks for the video.
I'd grade this draft as a C-. The Cowboys have been beaten in the trenches against all of the good teams in the past few years. This draft really doesn't address that problem very well.
The Cowboys have only three defensive tackles on the roster, and many people don't see any value in Carl Davis. No one knows what size, shape, or ability Mazi Smith will show in 2024. Any mock draft that doesn't strengthen the defensive tackle position is a bad mock draft for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys have spent the past several years dealing with injured linebackers. Damone Clark was a worthwhile chance to take with a later pick, but he was available as a lower pick because the combine showed that he had a serious problem with his neck. Leighton Vander Esch had potential for greatness but never developed fully because of his neck injuries. DeMarvion Overshown seemed to be on his way to being a great linebacker last summer, but he had an ACL injury. We don't know whether he will ever recover. Jabril Cox seemed to have a great future until he suffered an ACL injury. Everyone knows all of this. Knowing this, why would anyone want the Cowboys to spend a high pick on another injury-prone linebacker?
Even though the Cowboys lost two edge players in free agency, the Cowboys still have three players (Parsons, Lawrence, Williams) who are competing for serious time at edge. They also have two players (Golston, Fehoko Jr.) who are hybrids at edge and tackle. They also have Tyrus Wheat and Durrell Johnson. If they trade down and get additional draft picks, I'm find with picking another edge player. I'm happy picking the guy from Missouri (Robinson?) who is more of a hybrid. Granted, the pick at 244 doesn't really matter, but I'd still rather have seen them use that pick on a defensive tackle or linebacker who might not otherwise come to Dallas. I think there will be enough UDFA edges of equal caliber for the Cowboys to find someone just as good.
Not considering the needs, the picks of Guyton, Wright, and Lee would be fine, but picking four of the first five picks on the offense is foolish. The defensive needs are too great for those to be good picks. I still believe that the Cowboys should not give Prescott a bunch of rookie talent just so he can showcase himself for the free agent market. If he's going to showcase himself, he should do it with the remains of the 2023 offense. If he doesn't want to do that, he should accept a trade. I don't really believe that the Cowboys have a chance of competing for a Super Bowl until after the 2026 season. Anything can happen, but the team seems to need a rebuild. I would wait until next year to spend a high draft pick on a running back.
With all of the other needs, I see no point in drafting a wide receiver at all. The wide receiver group in Dallas has no depth, but the team needs to build other areas first. I would build the trenches first and look for a wide receiver next year. I would try to develop some of the lesser receivers to see whether any of them can make a solid run for the WR3 position.
I don't expect much out of the 233 pick, and getting a cornerback would be good. I just don't feel good about this pick with the defensive line not addressed.
N. Unless this is part of a (silent) three year rework of the roster
Interesting mock draft. It does address areas of need or concern. Whether or not the two goofs in the front office makes the picks is a different story. I wouldn't take project players or players with injury concerns.
I mean I’d rather take a player like Peyton Wilson (1rst round talent that’s only there because of injury history) then what they did last year and draft for position and get a guy 1 round earlier then he should go in schoonmaker!
Yeah not feeling great drafting injury prone players me I’d draft Trotter Jr in the 3rd or the linebacker from Texas AM

Cooper colson or Wallace would be better healthy options at lb
RB in the 3-5 round
I just can't get past the fact the Guyton looks like Ol Greg

I’ve lost confidence in jones’ commitment to winning because we done so little in free agency so far! All in my ass!!
Stop it with the left tackle. Need center and a big DT. So we can run the ball and stop the run. Let big Texas fall to Dallas in second RD.
Hell i'm taking a receiver over guyton and barton in the first round. If they draft one of those two guys in the first round this draft is already fucked up 😞
No. No Tyler guyton. Take the best available player. And then draft two offensive tackles in rounds two and four
add a back no higher than round 5. too many other needs
Delusional rumors anything to do with this team and predicting with the senile carnival bark will do waste of time
Would’ve took Morgan over guyton
Zero chance we don't go rb by rd 2

Dane usually is right on rd 1 for Dallas
He's wrong this time ... Center is the #1 need and it's a thinner class than the Tackle class. You have to go Center 1st. Hoffman cannot handle center/duties.. He is a practice squad player the Cowboys picked up from Carolina.
@@OmahaSand I want center too,Barton or Frazier
No Guyton at 1

Payton Wilson?... no way. Sean Lee and Leighton Van Der Esch were great, but how many games were healthy?... Cowboys need to stop on "toxic" guys.
Trade down draft center and tackle
So,.... An INEXPERIENCED T in rd 1. Then, a quadriplegic in the 2nd???? BUMS in the early rounds....

If I'm Dallas I take powers and let him play center move Tyler Smith out to the left tackle and TJ Bass in a guard

Waiting till round 5 for a C is such a big mistake. You didn’t get any better at C.

Please no tyler guyton or graham barton, i would rather the cowboys draft zack frazier in the first round instead of those two.
barton is going to be a DAWG

If Dallas drafts Guyton in the 1st, I refuse to watch anymore. He is a fucking career RT with way too many goddamn holes in his game. There will be FAR better players available in the 1st like JPJ, Newton, DeJean, and probably at least 3 of the WRs.
Man drafting after pick 15 the late first round or middle second isn't that different who's on your board are you willing to let that pick slide to chance him being there at late second round no take your guy I thought Belichek yesterday on McAfee show described it great at always picking late with all picks through out the entire draft simple no BS check it out.
Bellicheck has the worst record in drafting in the last 9 drafts check it out. That's why he is no longer coach of the Patriots. Remember when he passed on Metcalf to take Arizona's Mackeel Henry. Tom Brady and Metcalf. Think about that for a while. Tom would still be playing if Metcalf had being the Pick and other offensive picks had being good choices.
😅n

Sounds terrible so that’s probably right on
C+\ B-
Hate it.
Reaching in the 1st RD smh
Same thing was said by most fans when Tyler was the pick. Oklahoma has history of having good OT. Trent Williams. Lance Johnson come to mind. Guyton Maybe not as good but he has talent. O Line Coach's job ro develop him Now everybody in Tyler train.
@hectorburgos1882 I have a 2nd rd grade on him. By selecting him in the 1st, Dallas would be passing on higher graded players on both sides of the ball.
Hate the Guyton pick but if it’s the pick I’ll trust the team that hasn’t missed on OL in the 1st
First
confirmed!
Ugh, Bruglers mock is terrible

Horrible mock! 😩🤷.....lol....... that was just nauseating
