Yes there are still so Common in European countries like Switzerland and Norway (Non-EU Members) in which the Installation of inner doors is not compulsory yet. But since 20 years ago a high percentage of lifts, these are, the ones whose outer door is swinging (semi-automatic door), used to have no inner door (the most common type in Europe for older machines) until a 1997 European regulation came into effect and gave the EU members a three-year term to modernise these elevators, for obvious safety reasons. No inner-door lifts were mostly installed between the 60’s and 70,s in apartment blocks, and such design made them more cost effective and faster in the operations, but with a risk of getting trapped or injured by the bare moving walls on their way up and down.

Very nice elevator 👍
An elevator without an inner door. That's something you don't see in North America!
