Skills you must learn when you choose design engineer
Skills= application of GD&T, Tolerance stackup analysis, Problem solving skills and methods, product life cycle, PROCESS OF NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (NPD), remastering, reverse engineering, convert class A surface to Surface B, reading of complicated drawing, convert dump part into parametric, sheet metal design and plastic product design, casting etc. Again choose choose your design field wisely

Same as mechanical but here you will have to deeply focus on CAD CAM software and some analysis of it's. If not interested in design field then you can also try in industrial paint. Paint shop in automobile there is diploma course in surface coating and industry paint. Rather then this Research and development but here also you will have to deeply focus on software and engineering factors.

As a Mechanical maintenance engineer i will say don't come in this field. Absolutely no Job, no handsome salary, no decent lifestyle. ITI, diploma and degree candidate are working nearly on same pay nowadays in this field. I will say instead of mechanical go for electrical engineering. Please take your decision wisely.

The energy is mainly generated by turbines which is also mechanical engineering
The mobile/ laptop / desktop you are using to read this is also designed and manufactured by mechanical engineers
Rockets, defence, etc all equipment design and manufacturing are done by mechanical engineers
