      Nonsense, you dont need subd for most of the stuff in hs, unless you need to use subd. That includes game assets. Besides, you can very easily convert bool mesh into subd.

    Being a Hard Ops/Box Cutter user it is really painful to watch this way of working now... Great tut regardless Ryuu, enjoy watching your lessons and somehow I always seem to learn something new...;)

      @Indi Anon No you should not get flak for this. You are 100% correct and everyone learning the software should know how to do things with the vanilla setup. Not only to know how it works under the hood but also so you can truly appreciate the real power of the 3rd party extensions!

      Guy has some point, it's not actual mather of if workflow provide good result or not but rather, theres some switch from Blender "hype" noticable in the industry. I think it's some fake developed situation, but since workflows like boxcutter, hardops it's not quite transferable to Maya or 3Dmax, guys who usually work in traditional packages give this workflow bad name. Also its noticable in sculpting, we had this hype "you can switch from zbrush to blender", and lately it's "nahh you actually NEEED to know Zbrush". Personally i think it's this addoon Bonanza won't be actually good for blender (because you got new addons wherever you go). I know this guy whos making a lot of curses lot of different topics from environment to sculpting even unreal. When i saw hes addon library it was like couple thousands of dollars in addons not to mention the time to figure them all out. You guys stick constantly to 2-3 paid addons and it's cool, but you attend other guy course he has diffrent addons and so on. Lately i was sad to hear that pixologic developed addon for PBR in Blender, witch Blender announced to be Blender base of future development, Yet we have another addon. Fantastic im afraid they will make freakshow from blender soon this way, and "industry standard in 10 years" story is going bye bye. Because no company decide to put major project on the line into such fragmentalized work environment.

      @@MrGATOR1980 you dont even need to switch to zbrush, you could buy quadremesher which is created by the same guys who worked on zbrush tools. I think the industry revolution is happening already, i dont think we need 10y. Blender is vastly used in indie studios which now come up with better games that the hollywood rot drived aaa shaite. Also with WN modif, no one needs quads anymore, especially for hs.

    6:00 pressing '5' from persp to ortho works at any time

    6:46 So have you covered this in your other videos? Can't remember if Auto Smooth can be checked by default or if any of the extensions (hardops, boxcutter) do it automaticly?

    This video is great! And you gained a new subscriber.
    I just got one question. You are putting the modifier in a different order at both cubes. But I only got the modifiers on the first cube where I put them on before. Did I miss something or how do you apply\copy the modifiers onto the other cube.

    Ponte I feel like you and josh do have a different approach of hard surface ? I did not go over all video but Josh plays a lot with subdivide, and i confess it scares me a little lol ;) I just start and actually try to follow a bit the best practice as a start and then get more complicated over time but do not want to fight with mesh straight ? What would u suggest ?

      we do not have a different approach mate, we are simply showing you guys whats possible and which tools to use in what situation. If you go to the store two blocks away, you walk, 7 blocks you take a bike, next town you drive.

    i don't have numpad on my system key board and i try what you said but you only said we should just emulate numpad and i did that and nothing happend i did get same result with you
