Don’t worry about running solo mate, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of similar paced runners in the same boat as yourself who will only be too glad of the company and to help each other get thru it 👍🏻
Yeah, cheers mate. I should be fine. I've studied the course as much as I can. If I can just find someone on the day who knows the route and their pace is too fast at the start, gradually fading to a death march, I'll stick with them!! :)
Exciting times ahead Mark! Race day will be here before we know it mate. Shame about Phil having to pull out but nice of him to still come and support. Enjoy the taper mate! 😎🤘
Yes mate, I'm fizzing with excitement at the moment. Can't wait for Sunday! Will be great to meet Phil and Ashley, as that was one of the main reasons for signing up to this one. Either way it looks like a great event, and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks buddy :)
Your journey is unfolding with such resilience and humor, Mark! Despite the twists and turns, you're staying upbeat and ready to tackle the challenge ahead. The support from your friends on race day sounds like it'll add an extra spark to your adventure. Keep that positive energy flowing, and may the miles ahead bring you plenty of smiles and success!
Thanks, Mihai :) It takes a bit of humour sometimes to get through these things! The race day support was beyond anything I could have expected, and really made the day one to remember.
You will be fine Mark. You have put all the work in. Looking forward to see how you get on and how it compares to Spire. I’m running on my own too…so this will be an adventure!
Thanks, Lorna :) I've never worked so hard to get ready for a race. I'm excited to get into it now and see whether all the training has worked. My Trabucos seem to be fine most of the time, but that blister on my toe on the longest run has made me a bit wary. Some big plasters should sort it though! I was on my own for 95% of the Spire and had a great time. Have fun yourself. The weather looks decent so far.
That's good to hear mate. I don't get much trouble myself but that weird red sore area flared up on my longest training run in the new ish shoes. I'll take spare shoes on the day just in case 👍🏻
Taper time, nice 👌 Sounds like you're pretty ready for the big day, a support crew will help & hopefully the Runners Knot will stop any potential blisters!
Yes, it was a bit of an unexpected change of plan, but I'd seen my friends' training on Strava and had an inkling they weren't quite going toi be ready, so I was kind of prepared. Thanks, Dan 👍🏻
That's all the hard work done mate. Sure you will do well in the event, providing you don't get lost. Program Komoot?, at least it will tell you when "you have left the tour". Good luck.
Having blisters is no fun, especially when it has happened before. Hopefully your feet will be kind to you on race day! Also how fun to have crew, that will give you a power up during the race. You are going to do excellent! The map at the end is super cool, how did you do that!?
Hi Jen. I only got that one blister problem on my longest run, and I'm thinking the newer shoes may be part of the issue. My crew will have a spare pair waiting for me if needed 😁👍🏻 To get the map video at the end you use an app called Relive. It can link to your Garmin or other apps and you can make videos of any run you did. I use the free version and it's really handy.
@@markg99 Oh good! You are so close to race day, we are sending you all the positive vibes for your run, you are going to do so well, your training has proved that so far! We can't wait to see how you do!
Dont know what to suggest about blisters really, as i only ever get them after race day. I think what you're doing will be fine though - keep some spares with you on race day too. Hopefully it will be a dry day, say you haven't got that to contend with either.
Looking good mate don’t worry about running on you own loads of people will be in the same boat , if it had been more local would have come cheer you on , this might sound strange but tape your feet up then before you put on your socks spray them with sex lube , as it’s silicon based doesn’t matter if it gets wet and stops blisters, might sound stupid but works a treat trust me 😜😜🏃♂️
@@markg99 yeh works great I got mine from home bargains with a load of flapjacks mind you I wore sunglasses and cap I case I bumped into anyone I knew 🤣🤣🤣

Your very own support crew! Going up in the world, Mark!
Yes indeed 😁 It feels strange but should be great fun to have a team.

Mark, sorry that your friends are unable to run, having them as crew is a game changer. Enjoy the taper and you'll crush the 50K!
Cheers, Reto! Having a crew will be awesome. The moral support should make a big difference, as well as being able to travel a bit lighter.
Looks like you have this in the bag! Great to see your training is going well! Keep pushing and looking forward to race day Mark!
Cheers Michael! If the race goes as well as the training, it should be a decent day 🤞
I'm so lucky I never really had an issue with blisters. Hopefully the compede will work on race day. You're doing great. 💪

I'm itching to go now mate. Having two of my RUclips buddies there to help me out will be unbelievable. Really looking forward to it 😁👍🏻
We can't wait to follow along the adventure 🎉 sorry to hear about the troublesome blister
Cheers guys. It's getting close now! 😎👍🏻
Nice one Mark - best of luck in your race 🫡💪
Thanks a lot mate. I've noticed some running streak videos on your channel. I'll check them out 👍🏻🏃♂️
Best of luck mark! At the moment for me running that far sounds horrendous
Thanks mate. I've managed to get some sleep and wake up on time so it's started off well enough 😁 Let's see how the day goes 🤞😎
It's tough to train with the mindset of running with friends then have to run alone! A crew is good though!
