Fantastic locomotives, as a teenager I was lucky enough to have been hauled by every one except St Paddy. We used to go up and down the east coast main line just before the 125 replaced these fantastic machines.
More deltics than Doncaster works. Good to see so much skill, dedication, covered accommodation and facilities. With deltics now being preserved locos for twice as long as in front line service it’s good to see them being set up for their centenary,
I remain an interested by-stander with regards to British diesel locomotives, rather smaller than those I'm used to in Canada and USA, but even so, I have to confess a great admiration for the design, build and prime movers of these magnificent locos. The thought that so much of your diesel heritage is being saved by apparently tireless volunteers in all sections of the preservation groups is nothing less than amazing.
Nice video great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video bye for now Philip
Smiles per miles, The Best Loco ever Built for BR & It's still the best Loco out there today in 2023, I remember the Class 55 Hammering through Doncaster Station during the 70's & When they were withdrawn from service I actually went around the back of "Doncaster Works" to see them all lined up just sitting there Silently, was a shivering sight to see & I remember it to this day .
Fine piece of British engineering when made in Great Britain meant something! I remember a friend having that green Hornby dublo diecast version, and how we used to thrash it around! The real ones were world class too! Power to weight ratio the envy of the world back in the day ,i believe nobody could match its 18 ton axle loading and 3300 bhp from those two Napier Deltic prime movers! Its also convenient if one goes down you could probably still get out of trouble and get home? They are also regarded as good looking locos ,and i certainly thought so back as a child and have a fond memory of on a trip from Kings X a driver let me start up those engines and my Dad took a picture of me in the hot seat! That loco was Tulyar . Happy days!
@@trainsplanes Will you be around to catch Alycidon tomorrow? Burton Wetmore Sidings perhaps? Hoping to catch her there, depending on where she's parked?
A very professional outfit here looking after some magic machines. I’ve often wondered if a bogie could be put under the cab 55008? It could then take part in line ups and be easily moved around.
Funnily enough I was thinking the same thing!, The 1st time I remember seeing the cab off D9008 was in Chelmsford (Essex) outside a model exhibition in the Early/Mid 1990's.
She is going to look fine Wen she is running great locos❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ British at its best the good old day Wen we built locos sadly I'm a class 52 as my grandad was the station master at paight station 🚉🚉 still looking great 👍👍👍 those napar look great
Just one quick question if I may, to which I’m interested in, do 55s have or planned to be fitted with the newer softer track friendly bogie’s, as there a hell of a rail head destroyer,
For those of us schoolboy enthusiasts around in the early 1960's with the BR modernisation plan going full pelt and the ER Pacifics going to bed to see and hear those magnificent Deltic locomotives saved many a tear. May they long continue in preservation on the main line where they belong and I applaud those who look after them today.
I saw 20 of the 22 deltics missed 55001 St Paddy and 55020 Nimbus as they were the first two locos withdrawn lived in Potters bar in the late 1970 s I could hear for miles when the deltic s were hauling trains Still remember the white windows of the Finsbury Park deltics
Glad to have been able to see a few mainline deltic outings this year and rode on a deltic pulled train a few times at heritage railways. Last weekend: ruclips.net/video/7TDh8mBFSag/видео.html 28th March 2023: ruclips.net/video/bh6l5OfcaSo/видео.html
Thanks for enjoying my paint work on 55019 , the grey is back to BR blue but the other is now grey
Keep the good work up 👌👍

Looking forward to seeing the baby Deltic ;)

Unfathomable amount of work going in there - hats off.
Lovely shot of me in the rain helping out the inspection of 55009

I would love to see. More Celtic thanks.
Great video 👍
The Deltics look great in any livery it would be good to see that battle ship grey livery on the main line for a while!
Think the purple Porterbrook livery might be the exception....😄
Yes as a reference to the Deltic engine's marine / navy heritage🙂
@@nelson408. Yep I agree, but ok after taking some Sea sicknesss tablets!

@2:11 It looks quite striking in grey. Wonder what a dutch engineers livery would look like?! 😆

Is that the same cab which stood in a back garden, and could be seen from passing trains some miles past Swindon towards Didcot around 90 - 91?
@@dahliagreen5919 No,that was a cab from 55021. I believe it’s now in Wales somewhere.
Many thanks for the info.

The best of EE and British engineeering!
Great video, are any of these due to become line worthy again?
Both are 019 to go mainline

Agree with a previous comment. Large Logo Railfreight general grey livery anyone ?
The 55s are pretty good.
Is No.15 going to restored to mainline?
I think someone saved a cab from 55021 iirc I wonder what happened to it ?
DPS now own it. Think its at Barrow Hill
Only mee
The baby deltic project would have been finished if these helped instead of being snobby about it
