Thumbs up for spending a bit of time on the attack knob and showing what it does at different settings, most videos don't!
I'm really stoked that the registration is postage paid! Awesome.
Thanks for the demo. It really helped me out. I've had a CS-3 collecting dust for a long time. I'd forgotten about the sustain feature. After watching your video, I used my CS-3 with my Stratocaster. You are so right! Now I can get the sustain the Start was lacking. Also, I like your easy going presentation. Look forward to seeing more of your reviews. Best Regards, Rick
the easy going presentation is called marijauna
@@mr.hedgehog420 And what's wrong with that? I don't remember too many real bad arguments with 2 high-ons. Just mellow understanding attitudes. Might forget to argue who knows as long as you get the job done.
The Attack knob goes from fast to slow, so more of the 'transient attack' the higher you turn it - Sustain is the pedal preamp volume, like Input on a Urei 1176, it increases compression. Tone lets you add back any brightness lost by the compression, Level lets you achieve unity gain or add a boost ;-) All knobs at 12 noon is a great setting to start with - if you then move the Attack to about 2 O'Clock and the sustain to 10 you are in good country
Who is still watching Gear Wire videos in 2017 simply for the laugh!?
I never saw them before are, they known for being funny?
Oh that, yeah. But it's very clear and demonstrates the difference that the pedal makes. I'm just glad that he didn't just try to use distortion while demonstrating a compression pedal!
Very good job, thanks!
you bet, I do! Works great. I use just a 1x15 cab and so it really brings the high end in line with the low.
Just remember kids when youre doing a review video for a guitar pedal to be sure that the vocal mic you use to narrate with is the loudest audio source. Dont waste time getting a good guitar signal so you can actually hear what the pedal may do. And be sure to tell everyone that the amp you use as a background prop is in fact mic'd and giving the impression that the pedal is hooked up when in reality youre running the guitar straight into a board.
Yeah!
Total Fail!
Why even bother making this!
Sounds fine to me, and an excellent review; I don't know what you are complaining about.
2 MIN TO GET IT OUT OF THE BOX! OMG IT'S SO AMAZING!
Yeah I dont know why they always waste a few minutes on that. Who gives a damn about unboxing? We just want to see what the little bastard does.
cool man thanks
ive never heard a dsl 1000 sound like such a lunchbox
Andreas: yes the cs-3 works fine with bass. I had one about 10 years ago. It could get noisy at times. There are better, more transparent compressors. The cs-3 is pretty cheap these days tho. As a starter pedal its fine.
Yeah It went on for quite a while 6 minutes actually . does it make any other sounds except for going on for quite while?/
The riff this guy keeps playing is sort of annoying but overall it's a decent walk through of what the pedal is.
LOL sounds like a Captain Beefheart riff
the compressor makes the sound smoother
If you have the battery do you still have to put the power adaptor on or don't you
can i use this cs-3 for bass guitar?
Which compressor would be better? This or the Soul Preacher?
I have a hearing loss and I can hear the difference
Go ahead. If one is not enough then just use two or more in series.
the guy is probably an employee for a company that requires him to "look through the box" even though he doesn't want to. he catches a lot of crap but sometimes that's how it works...you know...management has to be thorough...
I’m sorry, but this video is doing a disservice to this great pedal.. I remember having the CS-2 once, hooked up to CE-3 to my Ibanez AM-50..man..what a fat modern Jazz tone! I’m pretty sure the CS-3 is as great..so sad I gave it to a bass player I played with who I admired..oh well..things you do for your heroes. When I called him to get it back, there wasn’t anyone on the other end of the line. It has been 14 years and I haven’t seen that bass player since then and he never called me back..the bitch liked the pedal more than me apparently 🤔
Marshall just isn't known for its twang
Marshall can twang all day if you want it to.
@@michaelcraig9449 It can but the clean circuit is a rip off from Fender. I have never heard twang like I do from a fender twin reverb, tube of course. I have a Marshall and the clean is good but it isn't fender. BTW, I would never buy a Fender with dirty circuits built in and expect Fender classic clean out of it.
In HIGMEDIA's defense, I completely agree. Maybe he does not have a video on his channel because, much like you, he does not know how to make videos. Just like I don't know how to make demo videos. Just like you don't know how to make demo videos :)
UPDATE : I just tried to burn myself, just to turn any memory or awareness of what I just experienced by suffering through this video into sheer nothingness. And I failed. This hurts.
How did you make that guitar and amp sound so bad? Quite a feat to achieve that complete lack of tone...
fast forward to 2:35...
maxdesu or 6:00
A sustain review using only clean sounds? Isn't sustain more of a thing for Distorted guitar tones?
I have never heard a playing using clean tones that wanted notes to go on longer. Yet sustain and indeed compression are quite useful and more desirable with more driven tones. This is an odd review.
+Tim Janto Try to listen e.g. some Larry Carlton or Albert Lee, maybe you'll notice then
+flyhighpro I've seen some since this. I just found this odd. Who wants a clean sound to sustain? Seem counter productive. ;)
Try some copper noise shielding and atop complaining
Man, this was a horrible demonstration. Too much talking, especially talking in between about turning the knob all the way up, in the middle, all the way down, back to middle. So much for this channel.
Soooo many things wrong with this video
glad it had a postage paid return... send that pos back... OR maybe its your reviewing skills!
Noooooo! Not the box and directions demo!!!!!! Arrrrgh!
Find another gig buddy - you were swallowing your spit & showing me where the input is 1/2 the time - I just quit playing guitar ; I just tore off my left test-y to find something more painful in order to divert my attention, & I failed, miserably ; you are the kind of person that should never, ever, ...ever, ever-ever go near anything that can be used to serenade a woman . God ! How awful . Man-o-man. That was the worst experience of my life !
Hate to be negative but this video is a VERY poor demonstration.
geesauce... worst video ever
It's the marshall, they SUCK
***** or guns in roses... or slash... or joe satriani or megadeth... or vintage metallica, or like almost everyone...
