Thanks for the video Wes. My truck is an M 931-A2. It’s a BMY truck. The brake drum is separate from the hub. So I’m guessing that you can do the brakes without removing the hub and axle assembly?
you should rig up a magnetic mount for your phone, maybe using neodymium magnets, for when you film you arent being back lit . just a tip and only for a minute! cheers!
I just had my axle/wheel seals and bearings replaced and now my brakes on that side are not working , Would the oil ruin the brake shoes? It was leaking oil on the inside of my spindles , I have a 1985 M923a1 AM General 5 ton.. The shop sprayed cleaner on the pads. Thanks.
Thank you for the reply/info. I we will check for shoe movement in the morning. I bet they forgot to release the cage. I might be able to do that myself, I know there is a mean spring in there., The shop that did the work worries me . Thank you very much.
@@fredboat caging bolt releases with a 3/4" wrench. Easy removal.is to chock the wheels, truck running. Disengage the parking brake, crawl under. Nut in the cage bolt will come loose easy and turn counter clockwise and remove it. This will be quick since the parking brake being released will allow air to hold the spring back as the bolt is released
Thank you .I just crawled under my truck and the blue plastic covers are in place over the bolt opening, They look like they have Not been disturbed for some time and the cage bolts are there and look unused. I guess they have their own tool. I will can do the inspection movement test in the morning as I will have another person . I saw the brake drum off the truck when they replaced the seals ,So they did some thing else. Thanks Fred
@wessimpson2794 I need some advice i working on putting wedge brakes on my 818 is there any difference in spider pilot hole and I also have other questions i would like to ask if you don't mind
@@wessimpson2794 so I was correct the spider and the backing plate are a direct swap. What about the drum and hub. I know the drum is different but is the hub different also
@NOMAD1GHOST hubs are the same Seals. Bearings studs. 939 studs are longer than 800 series studs. And an 939a2 series hub is completely different of course. Those hubs aren't a straight hub section so they are obvious to know the difference
The inner seal was originally not designed to handle the pressure from the oil and axle. So it had an outer seal to just keep the bearings in grease rather than blowing the inner seal. With modern seal advances they can take up to 20psi of pressure
Thank you for this video it was helpful

No they will still be fine. The brake cage is uncaged correct? When someone pushes the brakes can you see the shoes move with the rear covers off?

I have m923a2 . 1 of my rear tire spin even when the parking brake is on and tanks empty. What do you think the problem is?

Spider and everything should be able to transfer between axles if you have the whole other axle the tubes are the same

Why does it have an outer seal if bearings are oil bath

where do you get parts ???
