We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing. Have you visited any of these tourist traps? What did you think?
I would also say that the Cloud Gate is only worth visiting because of its proximity to the downtown core and also agree that it's worth it coz it's free. If it were in the middle of some suburb, it definitely will not get all these tourists. Being from Chicago as well, I do agree that Mojo included this one for this video.
Walk of Fame maybe, but I found Mt. Rushmore, Cloud Gate, Niagara Falls, Space Needle and Four Corners really interesteing. And I am have been in 70 countries all around the world. And no, I am not US citizen :D
I've been to 3 of these and I actually really enjoyed them. St. Louis Arch, Liberty Bell and Mt. Rushmore. I especially liked Mt. Rushmore so I have to disagree with this one.
My parents visited ni Agar falls about 20 years ago and they said that once you got to the Canadian side it was super clean compared to the New York side 🤣🤣
The gum wall is an absolute no-go, but if you're in the area and have time those other areas are a bit fun. Not worth a specific trip, but still fun for a moment.
The Bean in Millennium Park is a lot of fun for adults and children. Hardly a trap. It's in a broad open area. You missed the #1 trap...Times Square New York City.
The narrorator sounds very condescending in this video. It sounds like they found the lowest rated Yelp reviews and based their entire assumptions on that. I've been to several of these places and maybe my standards are really low but I still had a great time. Accept things for what they are and don't act so entitled that everything has to be ABSOLUTELY mind blowing to be worth your time. Try to find the good in every experience and I promise you're life will be SO much happier. Also, if you can help it don't go during "tourist season." Everywhere is always more expensive and more crowded.
"The arch sucks because it's only 600 something feet when there are 1000ft skyscrapers." That's such dumb logic, the arch isn't even a skyscraper, they're two different things. That's like saying a Lamborghini isn't impressive because it's not as big as a house.
I agree. In fact she completely misses the amazing museum at the base of the arch also. I spent 3 hours there at least. If you want to say something negative about Gateway Arch, talk about the PITA it is to find parking for it.
Only one I agree with is Hollywood Walk of Fame. It's literally a sidewalk. Tons of hagglers, beggars, drugs, and homeless. However, I strongly disagree with nearly every other choice. Who made this list ? Space Needle? Cloud Gate? Sure, I wouldn't plan a trip just to see any of these, but I would definitely stop by for their architectural/historic/ and cultural significance.
This negativity simply adds to the sourness and lack of gratitude characteristic of our age. These places may not be to everyone's tastes, but for anyone not bitter that a 600-foot arch isn't a thousand feet high, several of these places can still spark joy and wonder.
You can’t be more wrong about Niagara Falls!!! The US side is great! So much to see as you walk across the feeding rivers, look up at the falls from the hurricane deck and get splashed by the falls, take a boat ride to the base of the falls and feel the wind and hear the deafening roar of millions of gallons of water a second, and the park on the US side has wonderful little benches where you can relax and lose yourself in the rushing waters. You literally feel the power of the water. It is truly humbling. A beautiful place to lose yourself in nature. Then hop over to the Canadian side and PARTY! Great campgrounds on both sides. Lots of history. Wineries in the area too. Whatever millennial made this list doesn’t know what they’re talking about. And that is coming from a so called 35 year old “boomer”. Lol. Seriously. Niagara Falls is an awe inspiring place!
This video reminds me of when I used to work in the Art Institute of Chicago museum, years ago there was this beautiful Egyptian exhibit of the era of the pharaoh Akhenaton, 1353-36 BC. And as this visitor came out of the exhibit she said “this exhibit’s so boring, you know there are only rocks in there”. I don’t know what she was expecting but many of the “tourist traps” that Watch Mojo has mentioned are awesome and many of them are incredibly important to our country. What do you expect Mojo, for presidents faces in Mt Rushmore to talk? Ugh, Such ignorance.
What? Bad start. The Gateway Arch is incredible and the museum is definitely worth the time. Definitely bad start. And then Cloudgate? Ouch. Not a fan of this list.
I only agree with maybe half of these. Gateway Arch? An engineering marvel. You completely missed the amazing museum on westward expansion at the base of the arch. I spent 3 hours there at least. If you want to say something negative about Gateway Arch, talk about the PITA it is to find parking for it.
2:58 Wrong, MojoTravels is so ignorant. It’s an artistic masterpiece with a beautiful, majestic view. I liked it so much that I went there twice, and spent more time my second time. Also, there’s the Badlands and the two magnificent caves (Wind & Jewel) in the same area.
I was once in Florida and was trying to buy a little football to use in our hotel's pool and on the beach. The price tag on the football stand said 3 balls for $4.99. When I tried to buy one from the clerk, however, he awkwardly stated that the 'wrong price tag' was up and that the real price was $30 for 1 tiny ball🥶💀
I usually agree with most of these lists but this one seems to be a near complete miss. Most of these entries are unique and historic locations, the walk of fame and gum wall I can understand but the other 8 are worth a visit imo.
Seattle is a great city to visit and there is so much to see and do. The Gum wall and Space Needle are just parts of it. There are other things to do besides that and still have a great time. Many attractions in Seattle are free or at low cost.
This list missed completely. It's some Karen expecting way too much. Dude the bean is 100% FREE! The liberty bell is a freaking American historical item. What did you want it to play a Christmas carol? Whatever you do don't listen to this list. If you're in the area these places are at do yourself a favor and see them. Embrace the sights, sounds, atmosphere. Take your kids so they can see the bean and run through the fountains. Don't just look at Mt. Rushmore. Drive around the National Parks and see the wilderness. Take the ride to the top of the Arch. See a cards game while you're there. There is a 100% chance to actually enjoy something if you appreciate it.
Best/coolest observation deck in Seattle: the old Smith Tower (not sure if it’s still open after the building was converted to all residential.) That four corners thing isn’t even on the right spot! (Check your GPS) It’s just the local Native American tribe conning tourists.
I went to Niagara falls Ontario. It's definitely much better on the Canadian side. There's a carnival midway built into the downtown. Haunted houses, restaurants, and many over priced attractions. There's a permanent Frankenstein rollercoaster built on top of a burger king. On the New York side, there's a casino, a few tour companies, lots of duty free shops and plenty of crackheads.
Went up in the Gateway Arch recently. The tram ride up is half the fun. Also, there’s no wait because your tickets have time slots. Make sure to reserve them ahead of time tho
Aside from the gum wall this entire video couldn’t be more wrong. Every one of those locations was very interesting. It sounds to me like the person who wrote this segment just isn’t a fan of things that aren’t high adrenaline or something.
I guess my idea of a tourist trap is different then hers/theirs. Many of those are free. She might not like them, but it doesn't make it a tourist trap. To me, a trap is where you keep on having to pay more and more money.
I've been to the Walk of Fame and the St. Louis arch. I would agree that these two spots aren't worthy of your main reasons to visit the cities they're at but I enjoyed seeing them both and I enjoyed the tram ride at the St. Louis arch to the top because of the thrill it provides and also they way you go up quite on a curve and not just straight up. The views on the top aren't extraordinary at all but for me, the best takeaway was the tram ride experience. I've been to the Cloud Gate as well being a Chicago suburbanite and I will definitely have to agree with what Mojo says about it. Good thing that landmark is free.
I agree with this list- you're basically saying don't put it on your Bucket list. But if you happen to be in town - you can check it out. Except the Seattle Gum wall - that one I will pass on. 😬
Anyway, if these are free, I will put it in my bucket list when I'm in the area. I don't mind the crowd as long as I don't need to wait in a line just to see an object. In the case of the Bean, I can just go there nevermind the people.
Taking subjectivity of opinion into account nevertheless, the Gateway Arch is a fantastic marvel of design and architecture, being a conceptual gate to the "West". When it was built, it was questionable as to whether it would even work out, as the measurements had a tolerance of 1/64" of an inch. The tram ride is unforgettable, and when technology appeared to smooth out the jerking motion of it, they decided to keep it the old way for sentimental reasons. I fast forwarded through the rest of the list as suspect. Enjoy the clicks, I guess!
Omg yes the walk of Fame is part of the reason I couldn't wait to leave LA. Dirty, every 20 feet some guy bothering you about getting in his van for a star tour, homeless people everywhere, and jerks zipping around on those scooter things. Bronson Canyon was cool and really pretty though.
Mojo y'all trippin'. Lol. St Louis Gateway Arch is nice, the view of city from the top and the museum. Seattle Space Needle is the best observation deck in the country...yea it'll suck if you go on a cloudy day. Cloud Gate in Chicago is cool to see reflection of the city skyline. Y'all get half credit for this video.
I would put Walt Disney World above most of these. The experience is somewhat ruined by the long lines and the amount of people there daily surpasses all of these, it's the definition of a tourist trap.
not the gumwall how dare you! All jokes aside, the gumwall is right next to the Pike's place market so people I don't think usually go to seattle to see the gumwall lol. I'll give you the space needle though, yeah that's a tourist trap for sure.
I know it sounds gross, but the gum wall if you're open to it isn't that much of a tourist trap in my opinion as a Seattle local. It's in Pike Place market, which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Seattle, so if you're already visiting the market, it's not totally over-rated to take a minute to check it out.
some terrible takes... Niagara Falls is epic, sure the Canadian side is better, but its still a good location. Cloud Gate is free and located in the main tourists location, Gum wall is next to Pike Place also great, the Needle is nice and next to a bunch of nice museums and the views are great for night view etc and part of group tickets. Liberty Bell, Plymouth rock is a place of history, which no one cares about and they should... The good takes are the Rushmore, hollywood walk of fame, underwhelming to say the least, better off reading about it than seeing it in person. The absolute correct take is four corners... what a crap place, middle of no where, in an imaginary point, four corners of four state
All these sites are actually more or less what the US has to offer. The Liberty Bell is right by Independence Hall. People see both and take in the importance of the area. I do agree with you on the 4 corners and Mt. Rushmore. Not really worth the drive
I'm from St. Louis. DO NOT PAY TO GO IN THE ARCH FFS! Let the gullible crowd sit for an hour in line to look out a tiny window. Clayton is pretty downtown. Southern St. Louis is gorgeous, from St. Charles and Wildwood and further west is great but St. Louis is a hole and not worth exploring. AND NO, there's nothing special, nor will there ever be anything special in ballpark village, unless you want to get mugged or shot at.
I'm from San Francisco. I would add the Painted Ladies to this list. They are not as colorful as postcards portray them. So many other Victorian houses around to the to look at.
Most of these are not worth a special journey, but might make a stop on a road trip. South Dakota has beautiful country and other interesting sites near Mt Rushmore. Yeah, I could find better sites in LA and Philadelphia. Niagara Falls is great from the Canadian side.
Don't stand in line for the liberty bell. You can get a view if the bell outside through a side window. Use the time saved to get into Independence Hall.
I can only agree with the bubble gum wall, which I didn't even know was a thing. Gross! And the Hollywood walk of fame, but I'm pretty adverse to the celebrity culture. Someone who loves it will probably find it more endearing.
Honestly, the bubble gum wall is just a part of the whole marketplace experience in Seattle which i thought was pretty cool. Not sure why they place the wall by itself.
I wouldn’t go to Mount Rushmore out of respect to the Native tribes there. Also, I don’t think we should be celebrating slave owners and racists(except for Roosevelt).
I can tell you as a New England native who has been to Cape Cod numerous times it is a HUGE tourist trap. There so much worth doing in the Cape, including exploring the nearby Mayflower II. Plymouth Rock is a quick walk by attraction usually littered with garbage and tossed in coins and it's not even the supposed actually rock. If you're ever on the Cape don't go out of your way to see it if there's other things on your to do list. I can guarantee those other things are more enjoyable, impressive or engaging.
Putting a gum wall the rest with the likes Mt. Rushmore, Cloud Gate, Niagara Falls, Space Needle and Four Corners is well poorly done. This could have been such a good topic, if talked about gum wall, largest yearn, or chocolate lane. Comparing oddities like gum wall to actual attempts of art or nature is like mixing oil and water together. This was lazy putting together subject matter. Tone of this video is like (Original): Its like saying yeah don't bother visiting yellow stone, because scenery is about the same as the 383 national parks and the geyser no different then turning on hot water on your faucet, however from the faucet you do not have deal with the smell.
I’m not even gonna lie, most Los Anglers’ tourism is a straight up scam IMO. Lol Perhaps it’s cause I’ve been to LA like a billion times, but I could never see the hype people give it.
I would add the welcome to las Vegas sign. It's a small, out dated looking and not even placed in area were people coming into vegas can see it, you have to praticaly drive away from the strip to get to it and you have to cross busy las Vegas blvd to get to it which isn't safe and it's 1950s design makes it look like something from an obnoxious cartoon.
Yep, this video seems pretty accurate to me. I was in Philadelphia visiting relatives for 2 days in September of 2020. I'm glad I didn't get in line to see the Liberty Bell. I already saw what it looked like on photos so that was good enough for me. Going in one of the skyscrapers there, One Liberty Place and going to Philly's Reading Terminal Market were definitely worth my visit.
No I don't agree with these pics. Do not like the tone of the video even if it was trying to be witty, which it was not witty at all. I suggest encouraging people not to watch this video.
Y’all some haters
Being from Chicago, at least the Cloud Gate (The Bean) is free. So a quick visit is still worth since you are not paying anything.
Parking was a bit difficult so we went around the block twice.
Same with Walk of Fame, it can't be a tourist trap if it is free.
Walk of Fame maybe, but I found Mt. Rushmore, Cloud Gate, Niagara Falls, Space Needle and Four Corners really interesteing. And I am have been in 70 countries all around the world. And no, I am not US citizen :D

I’m shocked Times Square isn’t on this list.
I disagree about the Liberty Bell. It has a numinous feel to it. Fortunately there were only a few people there when I went (Australian).
It’s not just a Boulder..... it’s a rock....
I have seen the liberty bell and it’s really cool so I disagree.
They don’t like anything that’s related to the founding of our country.

I just got back from Seattle couple weeks ago. I loved the space needle and the gum wall.
I leave near the bean and although it can be boring there are many other places around it that are worth going to (unless you live very far away)

Tone of this video is like (Original):
Its like saying yeah don't bother visiting yellow stone, because scenery is about the same as the 383 national parks and the geyser no different then turning on hot water on your faucet, however from the faucet you do not have deal with the smell.
I’m not even gonna lie, most Los Anglers’ tourism is a straight up scam IMO. Lol Perhaps it’s cause I’ve been to LA like a billion times, but I could never see the hype people give it.
Been to the Hollywood walk of fame and 4 corners
I would add the welcome to las Vegas sign. It's a small, out dated looking and not even placed in area were people coming into vegas can see it, you have to praticaly drive away from the strip to get to it and you have to cross busy las Vegas blvd to get to it which isn't safe and it's 1950s design makes it look like something from an obnoxious cartoon.
Top 10 worst and overrated videos on RUclips: Anything produced by the Mojo group
that gum wall was disguting
STOP WITH THE SLANDERS IM CACKLING
Worst video of your series! Poor selection! Historically, their importance should be considered! You have done better! Disappointing!!
yep I agree, though I wouldn't consider Four corners "historical importance" if you grouped that in. That was worthy of top spot imo.
Imagine trying to say negative things about places to get views with that nasely voice.
What is this, The Nanny with Fran Drescher?
No I don't agree with these pics. Do not like the tone of the video even if it was trying to be witty, which it was not witty at all. I suggest encouraging people not to watch this video.
I’ve seen most of these.... and i disagree. So much negativity!!!!!!
YOU KNOW YOU KNOW WITHOLS HONEY DUE AND SLUR LIKE A LISP REQLLLY GOT ME SOUNDING FQAKE OK ANTIXZ
The gum wall in covid times is a danger zone lol! However I would like to see it cos I love colours and street art.
I like the videos but no offence the narrator makes my ears bleed!!
This is the worst video I've seen from watchmojo. Very disrespectful condescending tone.
