helped you understand the Calvinist perspective a bit. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Until then, I have a question for you: in the description you said, "...not by works but by faith", which I agree completely, but where does this faith come from?
people by the Spirit using means (praying, preaching) to accomplish His end. This is how God has set it up. Someone may be elect, but not yet saved. They will get saved if they are elect, but not until they hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, and since this is God's secret will (we cannot know who is elect or not), we must take the gospel to all corners of the world. To say that election makes the atonement meaningless is to have a great misunderstanding of God's redemptive plan. I hope that(con't)
Hey Calvinist here. You're understanding of Calvinism is a little wrong, maybe I can help clarify. You DO go to hell because of your sin. See, all men everywhere are born sinful (original sin), and therefore are deserving of hell. Therefore it is not unjust for God to choose to save some when he would be completely just to save none. In your second point, if neither of us have sinned, we would not be under God's wrath and condemnation because we never broke his law, (con't)
Thanks! I appreciate that you wrote all of that in a courteous way :) yeah I'm not a calvinist expert, i'm just somewhat interested in this area of controversy, because if you noticed i used the term ''extreme'' calvinism. I believe it can be dangerous where a person could say '' if im not chosen, than i can do whatever i want, im still not gonna make it (it could incourage people to be extremely wicked). or if I'm chosen than i can live the life i want(for pleasure) (con't)
(on the Q you asked me)Romans 10:13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent?,17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. ,. ok so you're saying in order for faith to be heard,it needs to by ''Sent''...right?
sorry it took a while 4 me to respond ... 1 timothy 2:3,4 ''3..... God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.''. If its Gods will for all to be saved, would't He provide an opportunity for all? I believe He did, but John 3:19 says ''And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light''.... by thier choice, rejecting what God offered...His Son!
and sooner or later God will bring me to repentance...the calvinist view could bring the opposite of what a repentive heart should look like... thats why i Honor those calvinists that dont preach Calvinism, but preach the pure Gospel! 1st Corinth.1:23 but we preach Christ crucified!

Thanks for the response. To clarify my question, is faith an outworking of the free will of man, or is it a gift from God?

So does that mean God has given the gift of faith to everyone? I am just trying to understand you.
I believe it's a gift from God but it's our choice to either act upon it or not..
