Climb is in an abusive relationship with Renner, he has not even the faintest clue to her true nature and if he found out I imagine he'd break. So is it really the better alternative for him? Maybe death would be preferable. If Renner wasn't the best actor in the kingdom, this relationship would be absolute torture for her too. Wearing a mask full time and never showing your true self to someone ain't easy.
In the light novel Phillip and Albedo's scene is waaaay more disturbing because after she gives him that gift she takes him by the ear drags him outside and shows that she had every single one of his friends, family, neighbors, everyone in his domain and impaled their bodies and heads on pikes showing true horror before dragging him to Nazarick and having him tortured to death.

Yeah, pretty much. He spends as much time as possible away from her, because she doesn't have the ingrained loyalty and reverence that the rest of the NPCs were created with. But she falls into the same trap that Demiurge does, where she believes that every dumb thing Ainz does must have a genius end-goal. She thinks that Ainz came to act in her "play" at the end because he knew it would annoy Albedo, which would, in turn, cause Albedo to be annoyed with Renner for making Ainz act so silly. Now Renner has to make it up to Albedo by working extra hard for Nazarick. She assumes that was his goal all along, to force her to be even more loyal.
Aniz is not actually that stupid. He is quite smart just lacks experience and confidence. His talent is his ability to use the information he does have to its best potential. This was mentioned earlier in the light novels. In relation to his PvP record. He has a lot of first time losses to opponents he had little information on but always wins any rematches where he is well informed.

The civil war would lead Renner to force Kingdom to become vassal state. Then Zanach's death just throw any mercy left and all those death at the end to show the Kingdom is not even worth saving anymore.

Renner truly is one of the only characters to achieve all of her goals and her true happy ending. Safe and sound in the safest location on the planet (nazzarik), her one true love (loyal puppy) as a bedridden fresh revived demon bed toy .... respected by the most powerfull people on the planet and she can live happily ever after .... respect ... kinda reminds me how people get successfull if they dont care and are willing to walk over a bunch of corpses... also Mare chant is adorable.
Momon is staying in E-Rantel which is the city in the Sorcerer Kingdom so he is conveniently away from the war in the Kingdom. Aura was sent to get the statue that Demiurge left in the "battle" with Momon at the end of season two. Albedo is finally able to get her revenge on Philip for his audacity of putting his hand on her shoulder, something she only wants Ains to do. Remember in Nazarick death is a mercy and Albedo will not be merciful to stupid Philip.

The blessing and curse of Overlord is that Maruyama (the author) really prefers internally consistent characters and worldbuilding. He's one of those authors that basically creates and world, characters, throws them together and lets things play out as though it were a simulation. There's no deus ex machina, and it's a lot of fun that way. That's the blessing. The curse is that you don't get artificial fights. A lot of shonen/isekai shows will have last minute powerups (which Ainz lampshades here), ass-pulls and deus ex machinas just to make the story work or make fights last longer. Often times, characters will hold back for some reason, even in life-and-death battles... but will break the consistency of the worldbuilding or characters. Unfortunately for people who wanted to see a longer fight between Cochytus and Brain, that would have been a huge character breaking moment if Cochytus toyed with Brain the way Shalltear did in the first season. All the positive karma Nazarick powerhouses will pretty much one-shot kill their opponents because that's how they usually be respectful. They also aren't unnecessarily cruel. See how Sebas one-shot kills Zero and the other Six Arms in season 2. Hell, Aura isn't even positive karma. She's relatively neutral, compared to Shalltear and Demiurge, and she just head-shots Vesture in this episode when he refuses to cooperate. Shalltear and Demiurge are brutal though. They love toying with their enemies and making them miserable. When Demiurge fought a few of the Blue Roses, he taunted Evil Eye to piss her off. He even casted "Dimension Lock" to prevent them from teleporting away. Even though he could have spent that time casting a powerful spell he knew to kill them instantly. This is because he wanted to take his time playing with them.

That 2nd point is wrong. Renner has no known talent, however she has 5 levels in genius which is a class that allows you to use it in place of any other common class, for example to kill the king her genius class levels turned into 5 warrior levels and after the killing was done those 5 warrior class levels turned back to genius class levels. The only way to lose the genius class levels is to use it in place of non common class which was what happened to a paladin in the roble holy kingdom when she used her genius class levels in place of the paladin class levels and got stuck with it permanentely.
Renner was previously the princess class and also had the rarer "Genius" class and paired with the actress class. She was able to rearrange her class stats with actress and make it look like she was still a princess while she was an imp. The strange scene where she held a sword was a matter of her being able to get 1 lvl in swdman class or whatever class it was so she could use it with actress and genius to rearrange lvls
The thing is Renner wanted to die before meeting Climb. Thats why she was very much invested to Climb. For Renner, the Kingdom is a trash bin of people. Since the kingdom is full of brainless nobles. Then she met Demiurge and saw that Nazarick is where she belongs. The Heteromorphs are far better than the humans for her. So she decided to destroy the kingdom and everything that holds her down. The orb is for race change. She needs a negative karma to change. So she killed the innocent(orphanage) and her father.

Every Floor Guardian is at lvl 100, there will be no "fight" unless they're handicapping themselves for a reason. all of them has physical attack nullification for anyone under lvl 60. And the only ones to reach that high are Godkins, children of Players.
Additional info Even without Ainz intervention, Re estize kingdom will eventually fall because of foolish nobles and incompetent king. That's why the Slaine Theocracy's want to wage war to weaken the kingdom and be absorbed by the empire. The Razor edge sword was made of wild magic which is known to counter world items. Renner has level 4 actress and level 5 genius as her class level which is exceptional for a human to have. Her genius level is somewhat similar to albedo and demiurge's intellegence.
@No Name Can we truly say wild magic counters world items? I'd rather believe and even make an assumption rather that wild magic is superior to 'normal Yggdrasil magic' i.e tier magic but lesser than world items. I mean Pandora's actor couldn't teleport out of that world barrier spell that was created by wild magic, but Albedo who had a world item was able to break through the barrier. Tier magic (and items created via said magic) < Wild Magic (and items created via said magic) < World items
@@sirjack6285 We can put it this way, World Class Items negate Wild Magic and vice versa, that is the reason why albedo was able to bypass the law of the wild magic. You can say that both WCL and Wild Magic are equal when it comes to law breaking abilities. Also only the Dragon Emperor and True Dragon Lords can cast Wild Magic, and they are the most powerful species in the New World.

I haven't seen anywhere even in the light novel that suggests WCI might be negated by Wild magic. It has always been the other way around. Even Platinum dragon lord came to the conclusion that either Albedo was able to break through that barrier due to possessing a WCI or being a wild magic user.

New World and YGGDRASIL have different laws on how magic work, however both WCI (YGGDRASIL) and Wild Magic (NEW WORLD) can bypass law restrictions. The World Barrier created by PDL was meant to prevent entry and exit- that is the law of that wild magic, and with the law breaking properties of WCI it was able to bypass that law that would otherwise impossible without WCI. Also, Prime Wild Magic>WCI.

The voice actor for Ainz above all does such a good job expressing this true feelings. As someone who enjoys the tropes of RPG fantasy games, it pains him to wipe a whole civilization of the map but as long as it makes his subordinates happy then he finds it worth doing. They locked her up in her room every time she gave good suggestions or threatened the stupid and corrupt nobles . So she became twisted ( still is ) until she met a dieing young cute boy in the streets that look at her with puppy dog eyes that showed she's his everything , you can add up the dots from there 🤣

Yep it's a race change item. And it's not limited only to demon, using it will change you into any race of your choosing. However you need to fulfill certain requirements to change to a specific race, in Renners case she killed everyone in the orphanage and murdered her father in order to change into an imp (the starting race for demons).
I think we won't have another season for another 2-3 years or so (depending on how fast Maruyama would write). My reasoning is that they most likely want to adapt all the LNs till the end in the next season. Last season ending they said "The story goes on", this time they wrote "The end begins" - which I think means that "the end" would be in the next season. Also judging by how much they adapted this season (3 books) it kinda checks out, since we have about as much LN books left (maybe a season + another movie to spice things up)

She killed everyone just to use the box to turn into a imp to spend eternity with climb, the one she adores the gaze of.

@@CptDuck Typicly madhouse has used 3 novels to make a season, currently there is 2 new novels released (vol.15 & vol.16) If madhouse did these seasons by 2 novels instead of 3 we would be having season 5 in 2 or so years just like with the rest of the seasons. It is unlikely though, i think they will make final season with 2 novels and put 2 novels into movie just like they are doing right now with holy kingdom arc which consists of 2 novels.

I think the last test is killing one of her own family or somebody who she loves (the king) and the other seed its for Climb but like she saids he needs to be test his loyalty. Maybe killing or sent to Nazarith. I think the purpose for destroying the kingdom was to obtain the sword who can kill him and the object who aura is looking for demiurge. I think he doesn't get it in the first time so nobody knows they have it, it was a secret mission to aura to get that. Cheers

the next after this season is a movie. which is actually a prequel for this season. After that there is a very high chance for a season 5 due to the success of the whole series.
They didn't just "level a city". They slaughtered just about 8 million people, altogether. As they always aimed to not let anyone escape, a point that was made many times. Yet most people i see watching, cheer it on and laugh about it, hm. "Damn, so cool, so badass". As well as simp for these characters. Things like this may explain some things in human history haha (and beyond) Pretty good season but with 1 big flaw. Which, how they cut out an entire volume in the middle of it and didn't do anything to make it not confusing. That volume is coming in the form of a movie... eventually. Still, very good season. Especially compared to the dumpster trash pile season 3 was. I can probably agree with an 8 as you said. At most. Probably slightly lower.
Sadly, even being optimistic, a hypothetical season 5 would take like 5 years to come out. At least we still have the movie (soon...). It's nice to see that Renner and Climb had their "happily ever after" at the end, it's rare for NW people to have actual happy endings in this series, so it makes all the effort Renner put in make it feel totally deserved. And the cube is just a race change item for Climb.😊

Unfortunately, ironically, it became *too popular.* Originally was going to run for about 30 volumes, but it became so popular people are pirating the shit outta it.😤 So now the plan is to just end where the next major turning arc would have been (17) So _maybe 2 seasons,_ or they might do one and then a couple of movies. Sad, but we won't be getting to see other players after all. 😓 If you pay attention to the conversation with Rigrit and Platty, and the Cardinals, there's hints that the players are entering at different times separated by about "two generations" or 40~50 years in between. (Of course there's more hints in the novels) So my guess is the original idea was after conquest of the world, there'd be a time skip where they cultivated and trained up stronger beings (or just force them higher like Renner) and then the next "players" would recreate the final "raid" on Nazarick mentioned in the history of Yggdrasil From the Twitter where he posted a link to the mangaruma lawsuit: まじかー。なんか書く気力がどんどん無くなっていくなー。もうオーバーロード完にして会社員に戻るか。……まぁ、とりあえず予定のエピソードを一つ減らして17巻完結を目指そう！ Seriously?! She thinks that Ainz came to act in her "play" at the end because he knew it would annoy Albedo, which would, in turn, cause Albedo to be annoyed with Renner for making Ainz act so silly. Now Renner has to make it up to Albedo by working extra hard for Nazarick. She assumes that was his goal all along, to force her to be even more loyal.
Aniz is not actually that stupid. He is quite smart just lacks experience and confidence.
His talent is his ability to use the information he does have to its best potential.
This was mentioned earlier in the light novels. In relation to his PvP record. He has a lot of first time losses to opponents he had little information on but always wins any rematches where he is well informed.

Renner truly is one of the only characters to achieve all of her goals and her true happy ending. Safe and sound in the safest location on the planet (nazzarik), her one true love (loyal puppy) as a bedridden fresh revived demon bed toy .... respected by the most powerfull people on the planet and she can live happily ever after .... respect ... kinda reminds me how people get successfull if they dont care and are willing to walk over a bunch of corpses...

Momon is staying in E-Rantel which is the city in the Sorcerer Kingdom so he is conveniently away from the war in the Kingdom. Aura was sent to get the statue that Demiurge left in the "battle" with Momon at the end of season two. Albedo is finally able to get her revenge on Philip for his audacity of putting his hand on her shoulder, something she only wants Ains to do. Remember in Nazarick death is a mercy and Albedo will not be merciful to stupid Philip.

The blessing and curse of Overlord is that Maruyama (the author) really prefers internally consistent characters and worldbuilding. He's one of those authors that basically creates and world, characters, throws them together and lets things play out as though it were a simulation. There's no deus ex machina, and it's a lot of fun that way. That's the blessing.
The curse is that you don't get artificial fights. A lot of shonen/isekai shows will have last minute powerups (which Ainz lampshades here), ass-pulls and deus ex machinas just to make the story work or make fights last longer. Often times, characters will hold back for some reason, even in life-and-death battles... but will break the consistency of the worldbuilding or characters.
Unfortunately for people who wanted to see a longer fight between Cochytus and Brain, that would have been a huge character breaking moment if Cochytus toyed with Brain the way Shalltear did in the first season. All the positive karma Nazarick powerhouses will pretty much one-shot kill their opponents because that's how they usually be respectful. They also aren't unnecessarily cruel. See how Sebas one-shot kills Zero and the other Six Arms in season 2. Hell, Aura isn't even positive karma. She's relatively neutral, compared to Shalltear and Demiurge, and she just head-shots Vesture in this episode when he refuses to cooperate.
Shalltear and Demiurge are brutal though. They love toying with their enemies and making them miserable. When Demiurge fought a few of the Blue Roses, he taunted Evil Eye to piss her off. He even casted "Dimension Lock" to prevent them from teleporting away. Even though he could have spent that time casting a powerful spell he knew to kill them instantly. This is because he wanted to take his time playing with them.

That 2nd point is wrong. Renner has no known talent, however she has 5 levels in genius which is a class that allows you to use it in place of any other common class, for example to kill the king her genius class levels turned into 5 warrior levels and after the killing was done those 5 warrior class levels turned back to genius class levels.
The only way to lose the genius class levels is to use it in place of non common class which was what happened to a paladin in the roble holy kingdom when she used her genius class levels in place of the paladin class levels and got stuck with it permanentely.
Renner was previously the princess class and also had the rarer "Genius" class and paired with the actress class. She was able to rearrange her class stats with actress and make it look like she was still a princess while she was an imp. The strange scene where she held a sword was a matter of her being able to get 1 lvl in swdman class or whatever class it was so she could use it with actress and genius to rearrange lvls
In the novel Albedo impaled Phillips entire domain. Phillip is dragged off by his ear to br tortured.
The thing is Renner wanted to die before meeting Climb. Thats why she was very much invested to Climb.

I'd rather believe and even make an assumption rather that wild magic is superior to 'normal Yggdrasil magic' i.e tier magic but lesser than world items. I mean Pandora's actor couldn't teleport out of that world barrier spell that was created by wild magic, but Albedo who had a world item was able to break through the barrier.

New World and YGGDRASIL have different laws on how magic work, however both WCI (YGGDRASIL) and Wild Magic (NEW WORLD) can bypass law restrictions. The World Barrier created by PDL was meant to prevent entry and exit- that is the law of that wild magic, and with the law breaking properties of WCI it was able to bypass that law that would otherwise impossible without WCI. Also, Prime Wild Magic>WCI.

As someone who enjoys the tropes of RPG fantasy games, it pains him to wipe a whole civilization of the map but as long as it makes his subordinates happy then he finds it worth doing. Yep it's a race change item. And it's not limited only to demon, using it will change you into any race of your choosing. However you need to fulfill certain requirements to change to a specific race, in Renners case she killed everyone in the orphanage and murdered her father in order to change into an imp (the starting race for demons).
I think we won't have another season for another 2-3 years or so (depending on how fast Maruyama would write). My reasoning is that they most likely want to adapt all the LNs till the end in the next season. Last season ending they said "The story goes on", this time they wrote "The end begins" - which I think means that "the end" would be in the next season. Also judging by how much they adapted this season (3 books) it kinda checks out, since we have about as much LN books left (maybe a season + another movie to spice things up)

@@CptDuck Typicly madhouse has used 3 novels to make a season, currently there is 2 new novels released (vol.15 & vol.16) If madhouse did these seasons by 2 novels instead of 3 we would be having season 5 in 2 or so years just like with the rest of the seasons. It is unlikely though, i think they will make final season with 2 novels and put 2 novels into movie just like they are doing right now with holy kingdom arc which consists of 2 novels.

I think the last test is killing one of her own family or somebody who she loves (the king) and the other seed its for Climb but like she saids he needs to be test his loyalty. Maybe killing or sent to Nazarith.
I think the purpose for destroying the kingdom was to obtain the sword who can kill him and the object who aura is looking for demiurge. I think he doesn't get it in the first time so nobody knows they have it, it was a secret mission to aura to get that.

If you pay attention to the conversation with Rigrit and Platty, and the Cardinals, there's hints that the players are entering at different times separated by about "two generations" or 40~50 years in between. (Of course there's more hints in the novels)
So my guess is the original idea was after conquest of the world, there'd be a time skip where they cultivated and trained up stronger beings (or just force them higher like Renner) and then the next "players" would recreate the final "raid" on Nazarick mentioned in the history of Yggdrasil
