Hi! I have received soooo many DM’s asking if I can share the drawings & pneumonic devices I created. I don’t have these sheets anymore so I’m not able to do that. Also, almost all of the pneumonic devices I used are things personal to me that would make no sense to someone else! I find that helps the best, which is why I created my own. The generic pneumonic devices I saw online didn’t stick at all! Hope that helps a little 😊
One little tip I have while I’m still studying is taking the quiz before you start the chapter to see what you already might know and it also helps me remember what I should know for the chapter
Just wanted to stop by and say that I passed my NASM CPT exam a few days ago and you were a huge part of that! I appreciate you and the study tips that you have provided for everyone! I am definitely going to pay it forward.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I just stared studying, and I was overwhelmed with the thought of having to memorize all of the functions of each muscle. I feel so much better now!
Thanks for sharing Abbey! I will say the “verbal cues” you refer to here are the “five kinetic chain checkpoints” which are repeated over and over in the videos where the NASM CPTs demo the exercises with clients. I found the videos to be VERY valuable, as they offer some things not in the text.✨
I'm cramming for my exam in two weeks, (just started studying), and I was feeling like I was totally screwed. But now I'm thinking I should be okay now that I know what to focus on! Thanks so much for helping so many with this video!
One thing that's helping me is taking the practice exam and taking the ones that I got wrong transferring them to my google drive with the question along with the 4 choices and highlighting the correct answer. That way I'll be able to improve and memorize so I can have more correct answers for the next practice exam. Taking the practice exam at least 2 times a day has been helping me.
Currently going through the NASM CPT Guided Study Program and am about halfway through the course material! I like watching videos like this to really help me know what's most important to focus on throughout my reading. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and resources. This is the best video I've seen yet! I cannot wait to pass this exam and start offering services as an online personal trainer!
One thing that helped me remember muscles, compensations, etc, was to remember them in my own body. When studying, I do the movements and visualize the compensations and stuff. I am a super visual person, so doing this has created a sort of 3D model in my head that I will be able to recall during my exam on friday! Thank you for all of these great tips!!!
Thank you! I’m just about to take my midterm. I’ve had so many interruptions the last 5 months with homeschooling my twins and running a household that I’ve pushed the certification to the very last month.
Thank you Abbey, I just signed up w/ NASM on 4/9/2021. Now, I am going to need all the help I can get. This video was very helpful. I do wish to have a mentor that can guide me on how to study step by step.
This was extremely helpful!!! I just started studying and was a little overwhelmed because I wasn’t sure how I should be studying. I watched a few videos on how other people studyed but yours was the most helpful. Thank you for breaking everything down and getting specific with certain things!
Hi there, new sub here! This video was so informative! I literally took my midterm today (doing the guided study for NASM CPT) and I already know I’ll be watching this again as I prepare to study for my final.
thank you so much for this video! it really helped ease a bit of my anxiety. even though this is probably for CPT 6, the tips on studying and especially making the chart of acute variables will REALLY come in handy as i prepare to take the exam. thanks again!!!!!
THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to focus on this textbook and I'm one of those people that has to memorize every little detail. As you know, that's a daunting task. I VERY MUCH appreciate your concise "focus on this stuff" advice. You're the first person I've seen that has been so helpful. I feel like I can tackle this exam now.
You would be a great teacher! I’m studying for mine now and almost gave up when I started listening to the domain webinar.. Oh man. It is a lot to know .. I don’t see how people are passing in just 7 days, or 2 weeks.. I’m like... Whaaaaaat. you have GOT to be super human! Lol.. I really gotta get into what I’m studying.. I’ve gotta know I KNOW my stuff.. lol Thank you so much for this video! You were so helpful
Hard worker!! Love it! And with everything you had going on? Awesome and way above average. An object in motion stays in motion! Also, thanks for the quizlet tip. Sounds like a great help.
Thank you ABBEY ! You are such a blessing to my life! I am starting to study it today and it help me find the confidence on what to really focus on and what to not stress so much about with the cpt exam! THANK you thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for this video ! It’s very helpful , I’m currently studying for the CPT Exam and I was so worried about memorizing each muscle and its function since I don’t have the anatomy background. Now I know what to focus on! You are awesome for posting this :)

This was SO freaking helpful, Abbey!! Legit your acronym tip was a life saver, also the Poke-a-Muscle was so useful too. I passed my exam this past Friday and your tips really made that possible!
THIS VIDEO WAS A BLESSING!!! I'm currently studying for my CPT Exam & the information is so dense. This really helps me know what to really focus on. Thank you so much, Abbey :)
This is so helpful I signed up a month ago to get my certification and the tests are hard after the chapters. I need to figure out how to prepare myself for the final exam
Abbey- this was super helpful! Especially bc we think and learn a lot alike! (Very visual learner also). I subscribed even though I’m good on the makeup. Lol. You remind me of my friend Kandee Johnson! Inspiring! Keep rockin it! It’s my 4th certification after surviving Lyme and glad to be back in the industry and the gym. I needed this! Thanks again.
Abbey, you rock! I now am freaked out tho about the test which is in 10 days. Dont get me wrong, your info was very helpful. Just tell me you got a 90 something and I will at least feel i can get a 70. I was a good student back in the day, but I'm a hands on, visual learner and this doing online was interesting!! 😳
Abbey you rock. Thanks for taking the time to do this- its gonna help me a bunch. I don't wear a ton of make up but I'll suggest your channel to my wife :)
Ok, so I just subscribed to your channel and I am truly excited! Ok this is also a new interested to me in becoming a certified trainer, please share where do I start. Of course I work out and enjoy doing it...I now want to help others as well! I truly look forward hearing back from you!!

I'm in the early stages of pulling the trigger to buy the program to get the cert, this was super helpful knowing what I'm getting into... I have to ask, since I'm in what seems to be the same position as you, are you planning on training before and/or after your current full-time job? I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to start this career since I can't financially quit my current full-time job
So glad it helped! No, I'm not planning on doing in person training. I will just be doing it virtually! It's not something I plan on going full time with by itself. Content creation around health, fitness + beauty is my goal!
This was so helpful, thank you! I bought the self-study program but I can’t seem to find the e-Book version to print, where did you access that? Thanks!
Thank you for this!!! My sister and I have been going hard since October and are taking the exam tomorrow - this was so helpful! Did they give you scratch paper? I am also a visual learner! :)
Hi Abby, thanks for making this video! I would like to print my book out as well (digital book here). Did you Control-C each page individually to print the whole book? Hoping there's a quicker way. Any tips would be rad thank you.

Was the exam that difficult
How long would you read the book for each day to be able to take it in 14 weeks? I feel like the book is so overwhelming with information.
One little tip I have while I’m still studying is taking the quiz before you start the chapter to see what you already might know and it also helps me remember what I should know for the chapter
This is brilliant!! thank you for sharing this tip!
Alex where is the study guide located ? I can’t find it on my profile
Alex yes good idea VERY GOOD idea thanks

Hey buddy can you tell me about how the exam is conducted?

Hey Abbey, We'd like to interview you about passing the NASM!
Super helpful video! I'm stressing over chapters 2, 3 & 4 (nervous system, bones, cardiorespiratory, metabolism/bioenergetics) .. so far these chapters are the most challenging for me to remember (so many definitions/words I can barely pronounce haha! Would you say there is a large portion of these chapters on the exam (I am doing the guided study program, they have us reading the chapters in random order). Thank you in advance!
Glad it helped! The majority of my exam was the OPT model, exercises within the model & verbal training cues
I studied so hard and literally knew 0 of anything on the test. I actually ended up getting a 50/100 for not knowing anything so this time around I’m going on RUclips to see others who have passed. I suffer from severe anxiety and I easily get distracted so it’s hard to study. I noticed this was exactly what I had trouble with. The OPT model!!! Do you have copies of the study guide?
