Hello Electronoobs I was very surprised to hear you want to use it for an automated escape room! That is actually one of my jobs. For our facility, we use PLC's (Click PLC's from automationdirect) and a software called AdvancedHMI (which is free) to communicate over IP to each other. If I remember correctly, our computers use ModbusTCP to get values from or set values to our PLC's, and the HMI software uses these values to make an output very similar to what you've done here. One thing is for sure - the direct HMI to arduino interface is much more responsive than what we have. Thanks for the intriguing video

Great as usual ! .. use it with a nodeMCU .. get feedback from a light for example whether its on or off (because I still don't know how to do it!) show temperature of a room, and use it to turn the AC on/off.. add a dimmer with a slider.. and you name it ..
Great tutorial! I like these displays. I'd like to take this 10" display and substitute it for a standard 4" display on a NanoVNA. I'm a ham radio operator. The NanoVNA is a great tool but it's display sucks. It is way too small forguys needing strong glasses and not remotely visible in bright sunlight outside. Any suggestions on where to start? Tutorial worked great until after adding the "n0.val=" output script to atmega2560, the Nextion screen freezes randomly. My Nextion code should be identical to the shown video code. I have to power cycle the Nextion then it works but only for a few seconds. Is this something you experienced?

And I would also like to know if this could safe and recall settings and variable values you might have in your project.
While uplaoding videos/audios to the internal memory of the Nextion is limited due to memory size, using a sd card would be beneficial and according to the documentation possible. However I did not succeed playing audio from the SD card. Did you try to play videos from SD card?

I may be doing something silly but when I add a gauge I get a straight line instead of the needle shaped like yours. Also, I don't have the option of setting the transparency for the sta attribute. what am i doing wrong ? thanks for your time and attention!
Hi. That now days a lot of low cost 3D printers use a touchscreen with an HMI platform and send the data from there to the controller board, just as this screen...
Does it is possible to use this screen with out programming it, just directly from spi for example? In some cases could be interesting for another devices as raspberry etc..
You have to create the fields, buttons etc. with the editor and then send data to the screen using serial. I believe you can change the green parameters of each item. Setting values, txt, color, image number etc..
I can't get the nextion software to start. It says I need to install visual c++ redistributals 2015 but it's already there. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no joy. I'm on Windows 10 btw.

when it converts the video.mp4 what is it actually doing ? converting to some gif pic 0 through 100 or whatever format. i assume its ffmpeg under the hood & that's good, so whatever is optimal format for the given screen, do we have data for that choice or is there only one unoptimized hw decode & display pic choice

Looks fine, but I would rather use tablet with custom app and communicate over the network. Nowadays it's easy to make beautiful apps in technologies like flutter or web frameworks, and tablets have lots of performance for their price, especially if you buy used one.

Why can't I define gauge value offsets (starting and stop point?). The software 1.63.3 and LTS does not have it.
Fine and good but what if you just want to hook the display up as a console display? Can that be done? IE: use it instead of output to HDMI port.

After 0.08 seconds of looking, the Nextion and the Arduino must share a common ground. This is basic stuff that I just forgot about!!!

The level part might be done. But for the frame rate, for now I didn't get good results... I'll try more...

I think the reason u cant do that stuff is he is using the more expensive intelligent display, rather than an enhanced or basic nextion.
