This is a very well crafted video, thanks man. I'm very interested in switching to foundry for a group I'm a player in, and quick and easy vids like this are an awesome resource for my toolbelt to convince the DM that a different option like foundry is actually surprisingly simple - especially when well explained, like you've done. Big thankq to you.
Hey man, thanks alot for this video. I'm not sure if you're still answering comments, but I'll shoot my shot anyways. As of the stuff that's been happening lately, if D&D beyond would be updating all their spells and stuff to the new 2024 ruleset, if I would to import all the 2014 rules before it update would it remain that way or would it be updated too? Because If I have to Import it manually each time, it genuinely saves my whole campaign lol.
@@mathieuroy9351 I haven’t used this module in a long time but if I remember it right, updating your characters is always done manually. If not, you could always import your characters and then deactivate the module so it can’t auto update.
How do I level up my character? Manage loot? Level up & loot in Beyond and always keep re-importing? (without that Patreon payment to push from Foundry side)
You would have to keep reimporting from DnDBeyond if you do the changes to your character there. The other option is to import your character first and then just do all the changes in Foundry. The downside is that then without the Patreon subscription your character in DnD Beyond would be out of sync all the time.
I’m not 100% sure but I would think so. However if you have the players as part of your campaign with their characters in DnD Beyond, you can do the importing for your players
I'm having an issue where even after installing the ddb installer and doing all of the other steps the module does not appear in the "manage modules" tab. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the module, updating the all of the other modules and the game system and uninstalling and reinstalling foundry and it still does not appear anywhere within the vtt. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Did you mean the DnD Beyond Importer module? If you meant that, I recommend that you report the issue to the module's Github page: github.com/MrPrimate/ddb-importer/issues That way the module developer can help you and potentially fix the issue. If you need instructions on how to report the issue, I made a video which covers this: ruclips.net/video/lHhvbD_ESFA/видео.htmlsi=2ShUqUB-Atbci0_S
I haven’t run to this issue but I’m hosting my Foundry on The Forge. Might be you need to set the image directory to something other than the root if you’re running Foundry on your own machine
They just need to give you the DnD Beyond URL for their characters and then you should be able to import them. If that doesn’t work, try creating a campaign on DnD Beyond with your account, adding those characters to said campaign, and then import the characters with the URLs.

Really well presented! Your channel should have way more subs!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm working on growing it, and if you want to help me out with that, consider sharing this video with your friends!
No,
This is madness. Why is SO complex to import from DnD beyond to Foundry?!
Craziness.
Most likely because WotC doesn’t want people exporting content from DnD Beyond
I have the DDB importer installed but it's not availble from my manage modules lists
Would love some comparisons between DDB Gamelog and Beyond20 mods.
An interesting idea!
this was super helpful thanks! random question but what was the map you were using in the background?
You’re welcome? It’s from Czepeku’s free Foundry sample pack!

Are you able to import the sheets of your players into your game via your Dndbeyond campaign or is there another step?
Yes you are! Your players just need to give your their sheet URL and make sure their character is set to public.

After HASBRO relaeses its DnD 1.1 OGL license....FOUNDRY is most likely not gonna touch DnD material for fear of the HASBRO oligarchs lol.
We’ll have to see how Foundry responds to the whole OGL1.1 situation
@@MonkeyDuckTruck I should probably do s tutorial for how to switch systems in Foundry

Do we need to change to image directory "Please set image upload directory(s) to something other than the root'

I have a question; my player's have their own dndbeyond I am the gm. How do I make get all of their characters in my foundry game 🤔🤔

So, if I update dnd beyond it updates itself on foundry? Like If I lvl up on beyond does it as well on foundry?
No, you will need to manually update in Foundry.
