Ranger Sly !!! Another awesome video my friend 👏👏👏 You definitely picked up so many cool books. Thank you for adding an extra layer of information with a photo/drawing of the artist - very nice touch 😎 With each video, I'm always fascinated with the hardcover books in your collection 😍 Thank you for the kind words Amigo - I am blessed to have you as my friend 👊 Take care and Peace and Prosperity to you and yours 🫡
Same here amigo! You are one of my favorite people in our community. Thank you so much for the feedback! I try to give as much information as I can about the books without taking too much time. The photos of the artists and samples of inside pages are all the idea and work of my friend and editor Eric. I've been asked before to do a tour of my bookshelves. Maybe one day if I find a way to film this in a satisfying way.
Those UFO comics are great Ranger, there's not too many of them either so getting a full set shouldn't be too difficult, although saying that there'll be one issue that's ten times the price of the others, oh and that band playing near the end definitely needed a tune up 😄
Yup! Love the whole UFO craze of the 50's to 70's. There were only 25 issues under both Gold Key UFO titles and a few of the later issues were reprints, so very reasonable to collect. Thank you for your comment sir!
The Dell Four Color 1069 (F.B.I Story) is a confusing title because the Dell trade stamp in the corner says "Dell Movie Classic", which is another separate Dell series. When World Distributors reprinted it in England, they DID put it in their movies title.. A Movie Classic #80 - The FBI Story. I have never seen the eponymous '59 film starring Jimmy Stewart, based on the life of Chip Hardesty. Trailer looks cool on IMDb.
Thanks for all the infos Q.N.S.! Dell is often very confusing to follow as a publisher. I have never seen that F.B.I. Story movie either. And when you read about Jimmy Stewart, and they name his most famous movies, it never makes the list, so I don't expect to be something special. As I said in the video, the only reason it is of interest to me is the Alex Toth art.
Hey Ranger .. Outstanding haul from CCC! Big fan of the GK UFO Flying Saucers series and the Man From UNCLE, and basically any GK or Dell Title, especially with those amazing George Wilson painted covers. Charlton is another company which I love, especially that Phantom title with the beautiful art by those late greats, Aparo and Newton. I really appreciate that you take time to mention a lot of the artists involved such as Santos, Dominguez, Boyette and all the rest . Thanks for sharing more of your fantastic collection my friend! 😊
I always knew you were a man of great taste in comics Shannon! Thank you for your feedback, in particular about naming the creators whenever possible and/or noteworthy. I think we often put too much emphasis on covers and not enough on the bulk of the artistic work in a comic book which is the interior art and stories.
Some very nice claim pics! I think the Trogg shark cover you show might be in this week's claim sale, been watching a lot of videos so it might have been another show that I seen it on also. I love that Beetle Bailey and it is in wonderful condition.
I've seen issues of Tragg showing up a few times in CCC's claim sales. And YES! that special copy of Beetle Bailey is in very nice condition for a vintage Charlton. Promotional comics are usually in lower condition because they weren't seen as collectibles for a long time. I suspect this might be a warehouse find. Promo comics like this were printed in high numbers and not all of them got distributed. A dealer might have stumbled upon a case of unused copies.
Who doesn't love Jim Aparo?! Am I right? I think we took him for granted for the whole length of his long career. Same with Curt Swan. Guys who produced at least a book a month for decades! Thank you for the visit and comment Higgy!
Another great video Mr. Ranger Sir. I love Dell comics and pick them up whenever I can. I'd like to know how the alien paid for all those movie snacks. 🤔🤔
Good question sir! Haha! Dell comics have a unique charm. They were of a better quality than most of the competition, not only in content, but quallity of paper, printing (the colors were so vibrant), presentation...
Wonderful comics, Ranger! I'm especially fond of those Charlton Phantoms specifically the Aparo issues. I'm slowly gaining traction on those beauties. Very cool Man from UNCLE book! Love that alien intermission clip too! Great books and alot of fun, Ranger.Congrats n the new additions to your collection, my friend!🎉
Thank you so much for the visit and comment Rod! I'm right there with you on Charlton's Phantom comics: slowly picking them up when I can. As I said in the video, you can't go wrong with any issues of that run with the quality of all the artists that were involved with it.
Another great episode Sly, some interesting pick ups in this video, stuff you don't see too often. I loved Man from U.N.C.L.E. as a kid too. You are a wealth of information as ever mate, always cool editing too, the comic gift exchanging hands part was a lot of fun. Enjoy your comics mate
Yes, I'm trying to do shorter videos, so I splitted the haul in multiple episodes. If I can get to it, I'll probably do a video about the DC books I got from CCC's claim sales, and another for Marvels. Still, two videos in less than a month! Not bad hey Jackson?
Some excellent pickups there Ranger! I’m a big fan of the Dell Little Lulu run so sorry to hear the mashup on that Gold Key giant 😂 The storytelling in those is usually excellent with brilliant colors and art. Love the cut scenes and commercials! I absolutely forgot that Dennis the Menace was the mascot for Dairy Queen. Great stuff!
I have read only a couple of Little Lulu stories before. I know of John Stanley's reputation as one of the master storyteller in comic book history. So I think it was just a poor editorial choices on the part of Gold Key to select stories from two different Dell giants. They should have focused on just reprinting the stories from the same Dell issue with an attention to stories/chapters that were linked together. In the case of those aliens characters, they forgot to include the part where they are introduced, so their sudden participation in a story set in a summer camp was jaring and a lazy way to resolve an unrelated situation. It reminded me the way the used the Great Gazoo in the Flinstones to magically resolve problems. Thank you for the always interesting feedback Lead Paint!
Thank you so much for the kind words sir! I love the whole UFO craze of the 50's to 70's. I hope to get more issues of that series. They usually are not too expensive... when you can find them.
@Rangersly You have an advantage because here where I live (Puerto Rico) there are no L.C.S.'s or other places to buy comic books. The ones I have bought have been on online stores (mycomicshop and others) or when I visit my family in New Jersey, Florida and Virginia. Love those old SciFi and horror comic books.
I'm in Montreal and the local LCS usually have a poor selection of back issues. That is why most of the comics in my early videos were bought online. Now I pretty much buy all my comics on Cheap Comic Collector's saturday claim sales.
Dennis the Menace i prefer in the News Paper style...with the single panel black-and-white one picture-stories. i can't get into the comic book version
Funny as the reverse is true for me. I was never a big Dennis the Menace (in newspaper cartoons, tv, or movie). But, the very few issues of the comics I read were fun reads. Thanks for your input Scotty!
Sadly, no. Cheap Comic Collector is from Florida. He ships for free in the U.S. So I have to make him send my books to my friend who has a P.O. Box in the U.S. The only downside is that I usually have to wait a couple of months before the comics actually get to me.
I totally agree Robert! It's a shame that the producers spoiled a perfectly cool spy tv show to make it more camp. Thank you for the visit and comments!

Thank you for the visit and kind words Slim!
Aaghh! Still love those UFO books. Don't have that UNCLE book but I have a couple of others. I loved MY UNCLE as a kid too, but I saw it first run!

Thanks for all the good words my friend! The editing part is all my buddy Eric's doing. He's also the one who thought of the hand of God gag.
What a great stack (not too big) of comics! Thank you for sharing and for the info.

@@Rangersly postage is a lot of money and more if you are tracking it .
5 short boxes on amazon are 45.oo dollars .
Yes, everything is way more expensive when you live in Canada. Makes it harder to get older good books.
the first year of the man from u.n.c.l.e was the best ' and then it went down hill from there .
