Found myself here as I needed a refresher being I’ve just fibre installed by Gigaclear and using my smart hub 2 as an access point and connecting the two discs I’ve got to add better Wi-fi as I could never get a 3rd disc from BT no matter having a couple of rooms without Wi-fi. The Ethernet port on the back of the disc on speaking to BT a year ago they where adamant they were for only syncing upto the router on just finding you can run a 30m cable upto a disc to my workshop giving my Wi-fi, didn’t realise you can plug into it a device also. @@connorjackson6747 once you sync the disc to the main network, you simply connect the Ethernet cable between your console and the disc. If that isn’t working you may have a faulty disc. I am using the same method to connect a console for my children, so it definitely works.
My disk has lost connection and is always on purple and flashing red, what do I do? I apologise if it was said in the video as I skipped to a certain part.
Easiest thing to do is get a network Ethernet cable unplug the disc bring it to your master router and plug one end into the disc the other end into the SmartHub 2 wait upto 10 minutes once the light has been stable blue for at least 2 minutes and unplug the Ethernet cable if the light stays stable then return the disc back to the location you need it in.
I have this set up, but if when trying to connect a device to it, say my phone, in the Wi-Fi settings I don’t know what i am looking for. Can you confirm the default name of the disc please.
Ive tried it for the xbox and the latency is awful, dont bother. I now need to buy another router because its so bad with the disc connected via Ethernet
I know you might not reply to this comment since it’s an old video but my disc keeps disconnect every 3 weeks and I saw a previous comment and you replied saying to get an Ethernet and plug it into the smart hub I left it for 10 minutes and it shows blue for a period of time until I disconnect it from my smart hub and when I plug it in it shows red what do I do??
For anyone wondering, yes you can just purchase one of eBay and it works but you don’t get the guarantee from BT. It works fine though so don’t need it
@@LucaMuntz Yeah. I bought the app of Facebook market place, set it up as described by the app and it works great :) maybe it works better if you have the BT backing but all I know if it went from 1 bar to 3 bars in the living room and works as I hoped

Means your on the edge of the main hub boundary should still work but move it closer

Can you use an Ethernet to connect that disc to a console (Xbox) and will it better the connection?
You can. in reality it wont really provide you with a better connection though, as it still relies on WiFi between the disc and your router.
I got it yesterday and I can say its given me a better connection. It may just be me.

You dont connect to it. Its connects to your main BT wifi port then wherever you put the disc the wifi is stonger

No unfortunately only works with BT SmartHub 2 the BT white WiFi discs work with any router though.
