I've always heard praises about Virtua Fighter games but never really got a chance to play any of them since I'm relatively new to fighting games. Excited to try this one out!

i think a sega renaissance would entail sega making consoles with competitive hardware again, but yeah it does seem like they’re trying to revive some of their IPs. they’re sitting on way too many good IPs

I don't like air juggling that makes character looks constantly floating in the air while/when being hit, especially with single move ( jab, jab, jab...jab ).
Because speed-bagging a poor sap against a cyclone fence as their legs fail them is something real enough that your brain has sufficient haptic memories to imagine successfully. Imagining cotton-punching a bear to stay afloat like a balloon is harder, since nobody knows what that feels like.
I hope there's a PC port. Or even Switch. VF doesn't nearly have as much brand power as MK/SF or even Tekken does to warrant it's current exclusivity :/ And I want this franchise to succeed

As an VF OG. Just glad it’s back in some form. Net code was decent for PS3/360 days. If it’s somewhat the same I think a lot of vets will be happy. Hopefully with it being free more newcomers can see how much of a chess match and engaging this game can be.

Great, I'll be playing it for sure. I love VF but I suck at it, but I really want to show my apreciation for the series and the hard work the devs put into it.
Looks incredible. Been playing VF since VF2 on the Saturn so totally stoked to see it come back. Though I'll be leaving online to the pros, I'm fine with just bashing arcade mode hah.
Man, it feels so good to see VF back in action and someone like Max speaking positively of it. The internet can't miss any opportunity to be negative, but I plan to be on at launch having a great time. There can be a future for VF if we support!
Interestingly enough, so far I'm seeing very little negativity in regards to the game. Perhaps that's because it hasn't hit the mainstream just yet, but even so VF's reputation precedes it given people have not said anything bad about a single game, which is impressive. I'm not a fan and I only ever played VF in arcades so I'm not very familiar with it, but I've known about it for years.

I had a way worse connection than I have now back then, and the game was on PS3 which didn't have the best online but I still didn't have issues playing with almost anyone. Even had matches with Japanese players and the game was more than playable. So I am confident that the game will be fine in that regard. Still I was gonna buy it day one anyone, since it's the only 3D fighter I really enjoyed playing online back then so handing it free on the PS is pretty good news.
Now that I think about it, kyriu may not have been in tekken 7 since they're were probably saving him for virtua fighter. Make sense since they're both Sega ips. Though in probably thinking too much into it.

I remember watching AVGN play Virtua Fighter 1 a long time ago. He only played for a minute but it was cool to see what the first 3D fighting game looked like. Years later I come to find this and shit it looks amazing. It's crazy how the first 3D fighting game evolved into this. I might seriously give it a try because it looks awesome
I have just subscribed to ps+ for this game and its incredible, i have only scratched the surface of its gameplay mechanics but I love how every move and impact comes across as meaningful.
Finally another 3D fighter on modern platforms. Nothing against Tekken, SoulCalibur(my favorite fighting game), and Dead or Alive, but it's nice to see another face re-enter the 3D ring. Shame there's no PC/Xbox port though.
@@junglezone7323 I can understand not wanting to take a risk developing a niche title for other platforms, especially when it would only be "free" on one of them, but still, My friends and I mainly play on PC, and that's where we would want to play it, but now we have to break out the PS4's if we want to play it. and then we can't even screen share to the discord for anybody in our group doesn't necessarily like playing fighting games, but who still likes to watch them.
I came across some vf5 footage about a year ago and i was very impressed with how interesting it was to watch It doesn’t really feel like the footage shown so far have next gen top of the line visuals but it looks good enough And the rerelease might spark some renewed interest in the game
I've only heard of the legacy of Virtua Fighter, and how veteran players still see VF5 as one of the most intricate games out on the scene. Seeing the game revitalized on the Dragon Engine (after having played Final Showdown at an arcade in Judgment), is really a jawdropping sight to me. The difference here is almost as if this version was actually Virtua Fighter 6. I assume SEGA is testing the waters with this, trying out how open people will be to Virtua Fighter in the current FGC, how active the playerbase will be, and if interest will be high enough to bring it back to EVO. I hope it goes well for them.
I do like the idea of older Fighting games getting upgraded and almost released. I haven’t played a lot of older fighting games and knowing that VF kept its gameplay mechanics just change in graphics when it comes to fighting is cool.
the base mechanics of vf5 are so tight trying to improve them has a pretty high chance of screwing them up. each character has some pretty effective normals, specials, and combos for new players but also each character has a super deep bag of higher level moves. like ive run through every move in the tutorial/practice mode with my character and i still see competition players do shit i didnt know about.
The closest I'll ever see Maximilian Dood playing a game with the Yakuza engine graphics.

@@junglezone7323 I can understand not wanting to take a risk developing a niche title for other platforms, especially when it would only be "free" on one of them, but still, My friends and I mainly play on PC, and that's where we would want to play it, but now we have to break out the PS4's if we want to play it. and then we can't even screen share to the discord for anybody in our group doesn't necessarily like playing fighting games, but who still likes to watch them.

I was worried when VF5 first came out and "it looked like Tekken". But it is the most pure fighting game still out there. And I can NOT wait for VF6.
I hope this game becomes just as popular and successful as Tekken. Sega deserve it

I came across some vf5 footage about a year ago and i was very impressed with how interesting it was to watch
It doesn’t really feel like the footage shown so far have next gen top of the line visuals but it looks good enough
And the rerelease might spark some renewed interest in the game
I've only heard of the legacy of Virtua Fighter, and how veteran players still see VF5 as one of the most intricate games out on the scene. Seeing the game revitalized on the Dragon Engine (after having played Final Showdown at an arcade in Judgment), is really a jawdropping sight to me. The difference here is almost as if this version was actually Virtua Fighter 6.
I assume SEGA is testing the waters with this, trying out how open people will be to Virtua Fighter in the current FGC, how active the playerbase will be, and if interest will be high enough to bring it back to EVO. I hope it goes well for them.

I do like the idea of older Fighting games getting upgraded and almost released. I haven’t played a lot of older fighting games and knowing that VF kept its gameplay mechanics just change in graphics when it comes to fighting is cool.
the base mechanics of vf5 are so tight trying to improve them has a pretty high chance of screwing them up. each character has some pretty effective normals, specials, and combos for new players but also each character has a super deep bag of higher level moves. like ive run through every move in the tutorial/practice mode with my character and i still see competition players do shit i didnt know about.
I really did like the quest mode in VF5 and though it may not be included, I look forward to to play ultimate showdown nonetheless.
I'd like to think because of this, we could get a VF6!
