I am watching and l know how to cook almost all the Ghanaian food. When I was growing up in Cape Coast my mother used to cook almost all types of Ghana and European foods. When l was in college in the early 80s, my then American girl friend and her parents and some friends tried to convince me to stop school and open a restaurant. I ignored them because at the time all my mind was to get my accounting degree. I look back now and say at this time if I listened to them I may be a billionaire.
I don't think David really enjoyed his vegan dishes but he made it looks yummy and enjoyable. He loves his fufu, waakye, kenkey and the rest. Bless him 😂😂😂❤❤❤
I love how positive you are most westerners go to Africa and only point out the negative but you made sure to show us the positive side too and just enjoy yourself eat the food and truly enjoy it. Thank you David. Now you have given me ideas of all the hot spots to visit when I go back to Ghana
Good job my brother. Enjoy watching your videos... trying all the Ghanaian yummmmmy foods. And... WOW!!! Vegan restaurant in Ghana 😱...that's a big achievement...because we Ghanaians love our meat and fish. Bravo to the restaurant owner and the catfish joint as well 👍💕😀.
The grilled catfish and hotpot (peppersoup) is a regular in Nigeria. We call it point and kill. Meaning, you point to what fish you want and it is killed and prepped for you on the spot. We usually have the grilled catfish with plantain or potato fries and a coleslaw
Great video, I am 100% sure that the peppers you ate were the Devil's Rib Pepper which originates from Ghana, extremely very hot pepper that we eat in Ghana. There were peppers in West Africa before the Portuguese arrived here. I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed also
Yes, we have peppers and spices that are indigenous to Ghana. Our Kpakpo shitor is unique to Ghana. Our local ginger and garlic are smaller and the flavor is more intense!
Am a Ghanaian and hez really open my eyes to deeper places I need to visit in Ghana🙏🏿👍🏿. His facial expressions shows he enjoys each one of the food eventhough there were some that being someone like me who knows very well how to cook most of Ghanaian delicacies am like noooo this will not taste good👍🏿🤗. Thank you for showcasing our beautiful country. Well enough for that I found out there are lots of beautiful places I need to visit.👌🏾
I wash all my meats and fish with lemon. It adds a fresh flavour. I miss the unleavened breads of the Middle East and India. West Africa isn't much into those kinds of breads sadly. The bread would go well with the fish.
No David🤪, Catfish had also been a thing in Ghana too over the years since the beginning. The difference is that they introduced the style of (killing the Catfish, spicing them, grilling them), serving them right after has (that part ) has been common everywhere in the water nodies/seashore regions in Ghana 🇬🇭. - Especially in the Volta/Western, & Central regions...✌🏿
She said it’s a French way of doing it 🤨🤨🤨 why dose it have to be a French way of doing it ?? It’s simply the African and original way of doing it period .
White people always think things originate from them when its the other way round Sometimes they mean well to start and then annoy you with those sorts of comments

That is a lie cassava was already in West Africa, both west Africa and south America are tropical so we have similar plants growing, like avocado grows in West Africa like in south America. It's just a white story because corn, cassava were already here. The only crop we know that came from the south America is the cocoa plant and we know exactly who brought it to west Africa but the rest is questionable since most of our traditional foods and festivals include corn and cassava. Some chillies may not be indigenous but we have some wild chillies in West Africa which is probably the hottest thing ever but isn't well known world wide

@David your partner was very off with her health analysis BTW 😅😅. Palm oil is one of the very health oils you can get your hands on. Documented by the west! And the stew didn't have palm oil even from ur video it's the tomato base that made it slight red. Aside from my critique lol am a big fan.. keep up the great work/content. .
Catfish is not new to Ghana, we smoke it with spices and put it in our soups we do not normally eat it fresh like this. I cannot eat catfish like this but love it smoked and in my palm soup or light soup
I love Abolo! It is steamed or baked. The fiber is not removed. Fiber is removed for Agidi which is a corn meal based steamed dumpling. Agidi snd light soup (chicken, fish or mutton) is given to children and sick people because it's easier to digest.
