Hi Guys, hope all goes well with the refurb. A bit of extra history in 1969 my Dad Alan Merrill owned the adjacent shop to the 'Hive' and it was a butchers and greengrocers and nextdoor was a bakery. I was three years old and remember the lovely white fondant mice cakes they made. I can't wait to visit when it's all done and you're open for business.
Thank you so much for this info Fiona, we're actually trying to compile a timeline of the history of the shops for a future project, so this has come in handy! Do you know when he closed/left the shop? I'm guessing your dad took over from Lesley Sparkes. We have some pictures from when Les had it in the 1950's / 1960's, but if you have any other pictures of the shops or if you have a good portrait photo of your dad around the time he was the shop keeper that we may use in the future, please do email them to us at TheHive@vhinteriors.co.uk 😁
Fingers crossed! Not sure we could afford the costs of doing a scale version of our final vision in lego at the moment, but we'll keep dreaming of the final vision. You don't happen to have any old pics of these shops do you?
Omg you guys this looks amazing- what an incredible space to work with! Is it owned by the same landlady as the hive? Can’t wait to see what you do next x
I know right! We're not sure how to fund the BIG picture, but we're going to be less independent and seek free advice from some experts! If all else fails we'll just put some paste tables up and folding chairs 🤣
Thank you so much! We'll get there regardless... just not sure when lol - As for good stuff to sell, to sum up the offerings there was a mouldy box of DVD's called "The Popes best speeches" amongst even less popular CD & DVD titles 😂

It is! We have big dreams and plenty of hurdles… as discovered on the most recent video 😅
Fingers crossed for you, sounds like you have some amazing plans!
Thank you 🙏 We’re having to remind ourselves that things cost money and take time… but hopefully the end vision will happen one day ☺️
I love this for you both!
Fingers crossed we can manifest the vision! 😊
Exciting!😍

If you do take it over maybe you’ll find some good stuff to sell while cleaning it out? Best of luck! Hope it works out for you.
