Hi Jessa. thank you for that great overview of what can and cannot be used for commerical use in terms of graphics and templates and fonts. Awesome info.!!
I am so glad I found your video! The Canva conversation about what can and cannot be resold (on ETSY for example) is confusing because there is so much info. out there that does not get to the point. This is straight to the point and easy to understand. Thank you!
Dear I recommend you to contact canva personally with your use case. If you're talking about print on demand, you can totally use pro elements in your designs as long as they aren't the only element in the design! I just contacted them about it and they said it's absolutely fine. 🌞
I understand your frustration. It's true that Canva has some limitations when it comes to using their music and videos for monetized content. It's always a good idea to check their licensing terms to make sure you're using their assets in compliance with their policies. If you're looking for alternative sources for music and videos, there are other platforms that offer royalty-free content for monetized projects. Hope this helps!
Hi jessa, so if want to upload a youtube video which i created on canva pro. So since i used their some images gifs and music audios etc. Is it possible that i face monetization issue...if that so than i will avoid creating videos on canva from now...and invest that money somewhere else for royality free things. ?
Im so glad i watched this video before publishing my template. saved me a ton from making this mistake of using pro element in a template for my customers
a bit confused here though, can u pls recheck, i have the paid version and it is stated on the item that are pro that they are free for pro subscribers even for commercial use .
Hi Jessa, If I understand, we have to choose any free font (without crown) and I can use it for my templates? I remember that I choosed a free font in canva and went in Google and paste it and I saw that it's only for personal use, so confusing!! Can you please explain more about this point 🙏🏻 Thank you😊
Hi! I just sign up for the trial period. Can I use the “pro” FONT on my Album covers for Spotify for instance? Thanks for your prompt feedback in advance.
HI, what is the difference between you selling a template or downloadable and someone going straight to canva and doing their own or just downloading a free one? thanks
Can I just use the free elements as stand alone images in my digital stickers or do I have to add another element/ text to make it my own for my stickers?
What if we purchase a canva pro font license from another website and then upload the font to canva? Would customers still need a pro account to use that font in the template?
Okay so we CAN use pro templates as long as we make them our own versions and not just plagiarizing someone else’s work? Like if I wanted to use it as a base and then take everything out that belongs to canva except the layouts and I just put my own work in, would that be alright
I just wanted to add, that one of the main reasons I subscribed to Pro is because you cannot filter out free graphics unless you upgrade and it was taking me SOOOO much time sorting through everything. And then sometimes I would accidentally pick a pro item anyways. So, I think that's important to add because it really does affect the workflow process, and when I first went through your trainings I was a bit frustrated because I couldn't filter the way you said in the free version.😉
So, if I want to create a digital template for Etsy,, Use the free one and do not use the Pro.. The pro is used only if we are using it for use but commercial and sold as digital?
I’ve yet to find ‘free’ that isn’t marked with an X by Don’t resell ….. so I’m wondering what you’re talking about…. are those sellable if you have an account?
Hi Jessa, thanks for your video. So if i am creating coloring pages printables where the customer only needs to download and print them at home, cant i use pro elements in those?
I stay clear from Canva pro elements as they keep changing their terms and conditions at the moment you can sell templates under certain conditions. The templates need to be an original design. You can use a combination of Free and Pro Content. You can only use Pro Content in template designs if they’re shared as Canva template links (e.g. a template that brings your customers back to design in Canva but this means the customer will have the cost). You can’t sell templates with Pro Content as a PDF or other file types, whether flattened or not. Heres the link for more info www.canva.com/en_au/help/using-canva-to-create-products-for-sale/#:~:text=You%20can%20use%20a%20combination,types%2C%20whether%20flattened%20or%20not.
Thank you for the info Jessa. They’re policy is a real inconvenience and confusing ! I just don’t see the point in canva now ! , I pay for the monthly pro version to create educational digital products to sell. I was just about to open my Etsy shop and post my work before watching this video . Now I can’t as I’ve used nearly all the pro images 😭 An absolute waste of time , my fault for not checking properly before but I never knew they were so strict ! Disaster 😡
Great info thanks! I just read the canva policies/license agreement and am still confused. Should I avoid PRO templates if I am creating an ebook and wanted to use the templates for the pages? Purchasing the PRO templates certainly makes it appear as if I may use them as my ebook template to sell but now I am wondering. : ) I can certainly makes changes to the PRO or free templates so they are not exactly the same as they are originally if that would help.
I was wondering if you find the answer to this? I just watched the video as I was wondering the same thing about the templates! I am not sure how much do you need to edit and change a PRO template before it is deemed sellable ?
Hi, I hate to be a pain but, you can use pro elements and templates if you are going to use those as print only design or sell as product like prints on t-shirts and mugs..?
Pretty sure you can as long as it's being printed and you have put some kind of work into it to make it different from the original. ruclips.net/video/X5aZaGF5DNs/видео.html
Why am I paying for premium when I can't use some of the designs in a product label? The point of this is I find one thing out of a creators design like a flower in their design, for example, and use it in my label design, and the creator gets paid. There are millions of businesses out there that can use that same flower in their label because we can't copyright someone else's design. If we're paying for this and can't use anything from another creators design, then we just need to cancel our subscriptions all together. Canva is the most shady and untransparent when it comes to this issue. How is anyone even supposed to know whether they are breaking a rule just by using a small part of another person's design in Canva? There are plenty of alternatives
Totally understand you frustration, I use Canva more as a design tool and to create my own templates the pro also has some good tools like the resize & magic switch :)
Hi jess, just wondering if you design a digital cartoon or digital art though sketchbook app or procreate, can you then upload it on canva and create your own templates with canvas free elements then sell the final product on etsy as a digital product such as an invitation or wall art?
Hi Jessa I’m thankful I found your video so informative. However I’m completely new at this and I would love to sell journals and I’m still kind of confuse with what I can use and cannot use in canva. Can you please help me !
Heres a link to Canva licence agreement. www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/ I recommend just avoiding pro elements altogether, as if you give your client a link and they don't have a pro account they will get watermarks and a bill to use the pro elements so it is just not worth the hassle. hope that helps.

Hi lovely, unfortunately Canva have done quite a few changes since this video was uploaded. I will definitely look into making a new video. Regarding the free button that has been removed and you will have to look at each element and make sure that there isn't a crown icon next to it to insure its free. With regards to create you will find those options under the file tab on top on the lefft hand side. this will give you those options. Hope that helps but please feel free to ask questions in the membership groups created on Facebook as our community managers can help you.
The way she explained it pro elements would absolutely serve no purpose. That is wrong. I use pro in all my projects including POD. No problem, as long as you do not use or sell your designs as a stand alone.
3:15 Can you explain this better? So I can't customize my own art, for a book cover for example, then use Canva to put it together to sell commercially?
I would really go through their www.canva.com/en_au/help/licenses-copyright-legal-commercial-use/ as they have had quite a few adjustments lately to insure you covered :)
Hello! Thank you very much for this! I got a question. Im a pro canva user and Im planning to make document printables for sale. Is it still okay to use Canva's elements in my printables for this kind of business? I have modified some of the photos such as changing backgrounds and colors too. Hoping for tour response. Thanks!😊

Hey there 👋 Thank you so much for the great question! Yes - Unfortunately pro elements are no longer as flexible. It's safe to use the free elements or upload your own. I hope that answers it - wishing you all the best! 🎉
Can you still use the pro element but create a template that would be a totally new design and sell them? Or you CANNOT use any pro element at all even if the design already mix with other free elements?
With Canva Pro you get unlimited access to audio tracks, videos, elements. You'll also get additional features like the Background Remover, Content Planner, Magic Resize and version history. But its not necessary to have a pro version.

Thanks for this video.I have a question.I have a pro account in canva. Can I use all fonts for commercial without buying them on the Internet ?Because I paid canva , I thought it should be valid to use all fonts . If you have the rights to the templates in order to edit and resale you can but i would recommend you change as much as possible to make it your own style and design. That way you have a unique product.
I´d like to sell digital posters on etsy. I really like the style of just a photo and an motivational quote or a fun sentence on top. But is this enough "editing" to sell it online? Is it enough to call it my own design? Thanks for the video
This would fall under the Wall art niche, which i have many members that are doing this successfully so it's definitely possible. Just make sure the quotes you use are your own and they not copyrighted. As this could cause Etsy to shut down your store.

Yes this happens alot, you should always do your reaserach with any of the elements and read the terms and conditions associated with them. We always recomend only using free elements in our designs or paying for commercial licencing. Hope that helps
Hey there, thank you for the great question. I wouldn't suggest buying a pro subscription for the pro design elements, as they aren't allowed to be used in templates.
@@ThatJessaB thanks! I am now being told that you can use them in templates but that you have to change them in some way. meaning you can't just use the original design. is that true?

Is it possible to sell a design on an online store such as Teepublic or Teespring after including pro elements in Canva?
how do you make the mockups for these products?
Is it ok to use photos in a printable design, and adjust the transparency and add stuff on it ?

So if you pay for a one design license and you then use this design on a digital product as logo? Is that a no no go area or is allowed?

So if you use the background remover or resize feature, can I still use what I create for commercial use?
Yes absolutely :)
Hi thanks for the video!
Question what is the point of Canva pro if you can’t really use the pro elements? Thanks!
Its more for the tools you can use when designing

Yes, exactly

Hope that helps but please feel free to ask questions in the membership groups created on Facebook as our community managers can help you.
Looks like pro isn’t even worth it then
The way she explained it pro elements would absolutely serve no purpose. That is wrong. I use pro in all my projects including POD. No problem, as long as you do not use or sell your designs as a stand alone.
Right
3:15 Can you explain this better? So I can't customize my own art, for a book cover for example, then use Canva to put it together to sell commercially?
I would really go through their www.canva.com/en_au/help/licenses-copyright-legal-commercial-use/ as they have had quite a few adjustments lately to insure you covered :)
Hello! Thank you very much for this! I got a question. Im a pro canva user and Im planning to make document printables for sale. Is it still okay to use Canva's elements in my printables for this kind of business? I have modified some of the photos such as changing backgrounds and colors too. Hoping for tour response. Thanks!😊
Dear I recommend you to contact canva personally with your use case. If you're talking about print on demand, you can totally use pro elements in your designs as long as they aren't the only element in the design! I just contacted them about it and they said it's absolutely fine. 🌞
so if I made a graphic with some pro elements and free like a fitness tracker as long as it's a combined image I can sell on etsy?

Can you tell me what is the digital product and the physical product at canva

What you can not do though is creating a design with pro elements and selling this as a digital design that your buyer could use commercially. That's not allowed. But as long as you're selling your design in a way that makes your buyer an end consumer of this design (for example by if you sell a digital planner, in this case it is totally fine to use pro elements)
So whats the point of pro?
I'm so confused. If I have Pro can I can use the elements in notebooks, children's books, etc to sell on KDP as long as I alter them?

Hi Jessa , that means through free elements & fonts only I can edit and make my own template or digital Products to sell , right?
Hey there 👋 Thank you so much for the great question!
Yes - Unfortunately pro elements are no longer as flexible. It's safe to use the free elements or upload your own.
I hope that answers it - wishing you all the best! 🎉
Can you still use the pro element but create a template that would be a totally new design and sell them? Or you CANNOT use any pro element at all even if the design already mix with other free elements?
@@mariawaas1198 the latter is the case
Soooo what IS Canva pro good for again?! Unfortunately I won't be renewing 😔
With Canva Pro you get unlimited access to audio tracks, videos, elements. You'll also get additional features like the Background Remover, Content Planner, Magic Resize and version history. But its not necessary to have a pro version.
I'm still so confused. I made a coloring book with the canva free images and still dont know if I can sell the coloring book.

Thanks for this video.I have a question.I have a pro account in canva. Can I use all fonts for commercial without buying them on the Internet ?Because I paid canva , I thought it should be valid to use all fonts . Using different fonts ı created digital prints to sell in etsy. But now I confused. Can I sell these products in etsy?
You can sell products that include pro fonts on Etsy.

Would anyone be able to advise if we can use Canva Pro elements as digital stickers or even printable stickers on Etsy?
I believe so...as long as the graphics are changed a little. ruclips.net/video/X5aZaGF5DNs/видео.html

Nope, you can't resell pro elements as digital goods
@@affable.pebble you can as long as you combine them and not take 1 digital element as a standalone
Hi so i can use someone journal template with little editing for my journal i want to sell on Amazon? I have to make one from scratch?
If you have the rights to the templates in order to edit and resale you can but i would recommend you change as much as possible to make it your own style and design. That way you have a unique product.
@@ThatJessaB the about the elements that canva provides? Can’t really use them since their are someone else right?
I have a canva for education so can i download free images and elements to use in youtube video
As long as they are the free versions you are able to use them :)
What is your opinion of JetTemplate? They have zero monthly fees and only 30 cents per transaction, which is WAY cheaper than Corjl and Templett.
Thats a great question - I have some students use it - I am personally not a fan though :)
I tried it and never got a reply from their customer service kind of put me off, plus hard to make bundles Corjyl seems better
Best explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
So can I use all the free content in canva for commercial use without any problems?

Hi, if I take a graphic element in Canva, such as a leaf, and use it to create a flower bucket design by multiplying it, would the resulting design be considered my own creation? And would I be able to use it for commercial purposes? Thanks in advance

Hey there,
Great question.
Yes you can, however if you are making templates to sell to others, pro elements become an issue.
I hope that helps.

8:32 I thought you said we cant use canva pro but on 8:32 you said that you use it
You can use Canva pro for other fetures like the background remover but you cant resell their pro element😃
I heard that people used Canva elements to publish books on Amazon and their accounts got blocked
Yes this happens alot, you should always do your reaserach with any of the elements and read the terms and conditions associated with them. We always recomend only using free elements in our designs or paying for commercial licencing. Hope that helps
So basically there is no need to buy a pro subscription because you can use them in your template if you sell a digital product.
I believe you will need a pro subscription to get the option to generate a template link
