I like how there are subtle clues that do lead to the ending. The 24 hour/military time for the campfire andthe kids asking about what his parents do and him only giving the answer "scientists" rather than go into detail. It does explain the first ending, but nothing prepared me for the location of the job lmao R L Stein must have been zooted when he came up with this one

You should watch the original twilight zone from the 50/60s. Stein took a lot of inspiration from Rod Serling’s tv show for his books. This episode is based on a Twilight Zone Episode, not one of the more popular episodes but still a really good episode imo
