- In this VladTV Flashback from 2016, Tito Jackson spoke about the beginnings of the Jackson 5, as he explained the original group consisted of himself, Jackie, and Jermaine. It wasn't until he heard Michael's unknown talent during an elementary school program as he sang "Climb Every Mountain," which Tito said blew him away. It was then that Tito invited his younger brother to join the group, along with Marlon.
To be honest with all y'all, Tito Jackson gave the most on point interview that I've heard in a long time!!
I thought so too yep.
Factsss
This is on point for sure!
Yes. I thought it was great. I really enjoyed his interview.
What's wrong with are parenting and children today. Loved his introspective and answer..
The Jackson 5 concert in Chicago, way back, was the first concert I ever attended. I still remember the excitement of the audience! Tito and his family are true legends!

Toriano Adaryll Jackson , anyone who has heard you play guitar, couldn't possibly think you're a joke. You are one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Your work speaks for itself! I'm also from Gary, and I am so very proud of you and your entire talented family. Thanks for all the music, that has become the soundtrack of our lives. May you always be blessed with love and peace.
My nephew is named after him. My sister was in love with Tito.

They actually say MJ has a deep voice, but choose to that high pitch stuff. It was a rouse
I can’t lie the J5 was my favorite group as a kid I wasn’t born when they came out but seeing old footage I was amazed by MJ running the show as a kid.
I love the way he speaks. All of the Jacksons have mild speaking voices.
Yes they all are very soft spoken like Katherine
@@blaccshpptv2351 yes I love their personalities
I know right. Like their mamma, sweet and gentle voices.
The love I have for the Jackson’s, especially Michael is bigger than this World. THE GOATS! 👏🏻

Tito Jackson
Was on point
That’s how it was back in the day
Both my parents didn’t play that
We played with friends in the neighborhood and it was a saying
My folks would say “you better be home before the street lights come on”.
Yup my mom or my aunt always told me before I went outside to play with friends "don't let night catch you"
So why did he say almost everyone his age from Gary Indiana was either dead or in jail if everyone back then was disciplined so well? Lol
yeah and most of those kids ended up in lakes
You too are so ignorant. If you still don't know how these kids ended up like that. You can have the best parents back in the 60's in the USA your skin colour is a determinant factor of how you end up. I'm not gonna even start with the crack epidemy.
@@TheJordanHunt3r 👏👏👏
Thank you TIto for your discipline statement! I got a lot of whippings not spankings because I lived in the projects and my parents used to always say we lived there and did not have to be like other people. All 3 of his daughters are doing extremely well....thanks to my Dad RIH! Mom is still here @ 91yo and being blessed.
Hearing Michael singing that 1st time in kindergarten must've been like being struck by lightning. 🌩Tito, Jackie and Jermaine realized this child has a once in a lifetime God-given gift, and had more talent in his lil' pinky than most adults have in their whole body. RIP Michael Jackson 👞👞🧤
👏👏👏👍
To be that lady at that wedding and to be able to tell people you named the jackson 5. I'm sure no one believed her but still a pretty cool story to tell the kids.

That was deep what he said about discipline - I feel blessed to grow up in those same times
Yep my dad was the same way, very strict and disciplined.
But yet he said everyone from his neighborhood was either dead or in jail... So how much good did the disciplining really have?
@@eschulz1987 it not just discipline - in a lot of cases it's social economics, poverty, disenfranchising, etc... Gary has a high poverty rate to this day.
@@eschulz1987 The ones that werent disciplined he meant. the ones with parents who didnt give a fk
@@rodirogue8187 he said other people's parents would discipline the kids of the neighborhood and that it was a better time... But yet everyone else was either dead or in jail so it doesn't really add up
I was born and raised in Gary, IN. Stayed in the Delaney projects next to Tito's cousins in those one story brick duplex homes back in the early 1970's. Very true. I remember those days in school. You got out of line those teachers had paddles to put you back in line. There were some legendary teachers and coaches that were folk stories past on to you before you got to be in their classes or before your first day at the school. You knew about them before you met them.
He's right,I got my ass whooped growing up and it made me who I am today...a working family man, good husband & dad to 2,this generation needs to get that discipline
Why would you want your children to be Afraid of you?
Well when you put it that way yeahh but not make them afraid of you joe Jackson
Was whooping them because a towel got wet in the pool
I think it’s totally possible you could have turned out fine without being hit too though
@@samlibutti you never know, you can never know..
I agree with you.The bible said do not spare the rod and spoil the child. Just take a lot at kids from 60's 70's and 80's compared to now .today all we have are entitled snowflakes that dont know how to handle tough situations because their parents coddled them all their lives. Your child does not have to fear you but should learn to respect others and themselves that can only be accomplished through discipline
I think it’s so cool that he still has that first guitar
Tito is the most sane and cool brother of the Jackson's!
Jackie too
Marlon is also chill, mainly just Jermaine on that crazy shit lol
Yeeeeep, it seems that way
@@Praisepeace2020 Nope.
@@jayj3000 Agreed.
People forget and don’t understand how much of a underrated guitar player Tito is.
FACTS
Excellent interview, Tito was many people's favorite, he speaks very well, and his opinion of his dad is and always has been my opinion of him a wonderful dad, to day we don't have many fathers teaching their sons trades and using the rods that the Bible speaks of, so we are spoiling our children! And leading them to the hands of prison wards after the mess up because the rods were removed and fathers forbidden to properly raise their sons. Great job Tito..wonderful acknowledgement smart dad and mom!
So true. That scene he set about getting "disciplined" for breaking that 🎸 string was common for me and my brother. I'm 40 now and I don't think my dad was always right when he whipped us but I do believe he did what he thought was right and best for us because he loved us. I never felt abused. My dad whipped every kid in his care which was a lot because i have a ton of cousins and we were close. So this was a common thing still in the 80's. I can only IMAGINE the 60s!!
Idk he was a bit contradictive in terms of the difference between kids today and back then, he had just said most of the kids he grew up with ended up in prison or are dead, so they could've not raised them that much better back in his time than parents today...besides it's actually not the parents the problem rather the whole system that marginalizes & criminalizes these communities where kids grow up in poverty and crime
@@feyyfey Exactly, but he say his parents was strict with there children's. Ifs they cross that line of getting in trouble,
trouble they would get a good whooping from there discipline father using punishment to correct disobedience.
😳😳😳
That's how a man represents his family with truth, dignity and respect.
Tito still the man. Always was the heart of the group.
without that father - these kids talents would have never been nurtured, and there would be NO jackson five. The dad gave these kids the greatest gift , as well as a gift to the world. I love Tito and he is right . Discipline is lacking and it is ruining our society.
Wouldn't have flourished without Katherine too 🙌
@@SSJPENGUINlet's be real, she played no part in this story and i never ever heard a version where she did. Yes they needed both a mother and a father, but what he is talking about was all Joe.
This is one of the best interviews that Vlad has ever done. 100% Real. 100% class act. Much respect to the living legend Tito Jackson.
I totally agree with Tito about the discipline part. I too remember when the neighbor, teacher, principal etc, would tear your butt up. I’m so thankful I had that kind of upbringing, made me a better person.
I too remember the paddles and rulers from educators. However, I wouldn't want them to spank my child these days. The attitudes of children have affected the teacher, thereby they are apt to abuse them rather than disciplining out of correction.
You don’t sound like a better person. This abuse internalized in your mind and inevitably will be passed on to the next generations.
@@jakejerrison5181 What?? I'm not a better person for not wanting teachers, etc... to discipline my child in the form of paddling!
If anyone looked like they would put hands on my Momma's little boy, the 38 pistol came out and that included relatives. Momma did not play that...😌

I hung out with Tito in New York City in 2015; he did a gig at SOBs in NY. Cool as hell, cigars, and suede lace-up nubucks on. He chatted, cussed lol, was very down to earth, said the family was good. Tito is definitely Gary, In.
Tito is real....truthful and spirit filled of goodness. Trust.
Til this day I listen to the Jackson 5 I listen to mi heal Jackson their music was on point and their choreography was awesome. I loved Michael when he use to sing lead. Loved his songs when he performed live as a child. He use to just open his mouth and his voice was so smooth natural. He sang effortlessly. Rip mj

I just saw the Jacksons in concert at The Hard Rock Casino in Gary Indiana last weekend. Such a good show!! I also saw Janet back in 2003 at the All For You Tour. One of the BEST concerts I've been to hands down!!!
Right that's why kids these days don't have any respect for anyone.

Everything he’s saying, I remember seeing in the Jackson’s miniseries.
Rip Tito!! 💔
Yes, Tito…… Discipline is Necessary! Especially Old School Style! I loved, your Family Movie… The Jackson’s, An American Dream! It was one of the best Television movies, that I have ever seen!
Wow this man is spot-on concerning the problem with our youth and people of today. It all starts at home when they're young period not being loved and corrected properly.
I liked his take on his Dad and society. Pretty accurate in terms of the masculine disciplinary void.
in truth he was a little too abusive, but the idea was right. He just wasn't able to be a balanced Father. No father should call their children names and whip them in anger over non important things. I got whipped by my father grandmother and my mother (Not grandfather though he was good at talking and demanding respect) BUT they never hit me in my face or called me names or beat me in pure anger. It was ln clear love, and i couldn't get mad or hate them because it was justified.
So true with the discipline so true that this time that's why so many gun violence and all those things are happening I grew up the same way and I raise my kids the same way a little bit the discipline never hurts if it's done the right way🙏🏽🙏
Mr. Tito Jackson is very very underrated musician man.
I was the first to hear Michael sing, Soldier boy 😂😂
😭😭
Watch a video when they were kids never can say goodbye. Jackie was looking at Michael like damnnnn that's my lil bro. Everyone knew he had the gift of voice/song
Great Interview! Love the music and great entertainment that the Jackson family is known for. Being from the same city, people always associate Gary, Indiana with the Jackson 5. Whenever I’m asked where I am from, I happily affirm the connection. The Jacksons have always made Gary proud. In spite of its somewhat negative history, I am proud of being from there because of the Jacksons. Also, by the grace of God, I am blessed with positive people:and experiences which help to influence me; family, church, school, etc. Tito is right! That’s the way most people were raised back then. Thank God!! Our parents may have been tough, but it was usually for the right reasons. 🙏🏾❤️✨
I've always wanted to ask all of them what was their reaction when they first heard Michael sing? They must've been astonished! They're all so talented & I love their individual styles. ✝️🙏🏼❤️
Joe Jackson one of the greatest Father's 🙌 👏 He loved his children enough not to let the streets or the Jail take them, if he hadn't been so demanding his children probably would've been dead or in prison
