I think how that occurs is Varas is moving to a different position for the next attack, however the pathing intersects the cliff so it goes down/up it if needed. Despite Varas floating, I think it's a grounded enemy so it can't just maintain altitude while doing that if the ground goes down. It also does not seem to jump up cliffs if it registers the cliff is too tall to climb from what I've seen.
Best solution is to try and fight the boss in as open of an area as well, and just position carefully to manipulate the behavior to ensure pathing does not go across the cliff to trigger it to "climb".
Some areas are better than others for this so be mindful of your surroundings.
Easier said than done when you're fighting it with 30 other people XD

yesterday my guild told me they waited 2 hours for rain and when the gigantix spawned it stopped raining in 30 seconds.
I've encounter the exact same boss doing the same thing over in NA, but dude failed miserably and stuck on a cliff so we got free damage in xD

Yup, this happened with me2:)) it was even worse than this^^
everyone just gotta stay away from the cliff. Idk how the aggro works in this game but those that were at the edge of the cliff kept making it fall off. Or i guess just have the battle at the bottom of the cliff.
The maintenance messed something up because I had a couple of mini bosses do the same thing I never seen before this maintenance.
