This video made me feel pity for Troy, but not so much Tyreen. Troy was a good guy at the bottom, he was just much too influenced by Tyreen and their past.
The Twins definitely had potential. It would've been interesting to see Troy betray his sister since he is a ''parasite'' that lives in her shadow. The name ''Troy'' reminds me of the ''Trojan Horse'' which symbolizes deceit. Also the existence of Handsome Jack as a villain in Borderlands 2 set the standard for a villain so high that it's probably impossible to make a better one than him. Lastly, Maya's death should have been different. To keep it simple, she deserved better.
For real tho. Troy had so much potential as a character and especially as a villain. And they threw it away so quickly. It even seemed like that's what they wanted to do. Troy obviously had some if not a lot of hatred for Tyreen. And rightfully so! Troy is a character that got thrown to the side because miss Mary-sue was supposed to be the spotlight.
@I want to suplex Joe Cecot I saw someone else mention that if tyreen had gotten sorta mournful about it like jack with angel and she genuinely felt sorrow after her brothers loss then it would have made for a better villain in the end which sucks cause she just glossed over it it would have been better if she actually acknowledge it happened and had a revenge mission at the end instead of "okay he's dead lemme just snatch his powers and be a god lol" cause seriously it's like she didn't even realize he died and it was a pretty sad way they went about it
@I want to suplex Joe Cecot it's just sad cause I feel that if they just told the story a bit different and changed some voice lines from them then it would have been a better game overall
I fucking hate people who complain that they didn’t have a replicate of handsome jack, he was one of the best villains ever (second to Sofia lamb in my opinion) and they couldn’t be as good unless they just straight up copy or bring back jack, fuck those guys.
The one thing I wish they would’ve done, and would’ve made them more rounded as characters, was that when Troy died, Tyreen break character and show the slightest bit of mournful resentment towards the Player. Kind of like how Handsome Jack reacted when Angel died. Yeah sure, they didn’t want to just rehash HJ, but that kind of character shift makes for more organic story telling. Instead, Tyreen was like “LOL Kay that happened. God queen time! 🤪”
@I want to suplex Joe Cecot Yah I feel like if they just changed a lot of the voice lines not even the whole story just re voiced alot of these scenes with better dialogue then it would already make for a better game
Tyreen wouldn't do that. She literally viewed Troy as less than a person. If he didn't everything she wanted she would refuse to let him leech of her until he did. She kept him alive because she chose to. She wanted to show how easily she could control another human being. Tyreen is pure evil. This is her.
@@fenrisvermundr2516 doesn't really make sense. Tyreen used her brother but it didn't really seem like she had anything else wrong with her. I mean why wouldn't she feel remorse for the people she's been with for more then idk 20 years?
There are tons of games where you just fight against a cult leader. I think the hole streamer thing made it kinda unique while not being that much impactful to the rest of the story.
Troy is pretty much the whole reason tyreen got so close to her dream he always supported her no matter what. He made her famous got her there bandit army and fixed the spaceship to get them of there fathers planet. Sure with our tyreen troy would die but with out troy tyreen is nothing
@@V2ULTRAKill 👏🏻👏🏻 exactly. They could've done a redemption arc for Troy or even make him a big bad villain. Troy has so fucking much character potential and they wasted it. And you have to seriously go out of your way to get any information on him. Tyreens info is all upfront and she will bluntly tell you things about herself. It's just annoying. They really missed so many opportunities.
@@Godviahh us imagine him accidentally killing his sister and him fighting the vault hunters in a fit of rage and sorrow amd actually showing loss after her death and leaching the destroyer so he could kill the vault hunters while being blinded by grief and hearing his last thoughts like jack in bl2 before he died would have made for a better story
Y'know, in a way Tyreen was the real parasite, leeching off of her brother's naivete, intelligence & charisma, none of it was founded on her own skill, simply stolen from her better, goddamn it is depressing how much Troy was underutilized & overshadowed.
Could’ve had way more potential if Troy betrayed Tyreen, killed her, and revealed that he was a Seraph, not a siren, would’ve done so much for the lore
yeah how cool that would've been. maybe his discovery woulda caused other seraphs to come out of hiding because sirens were the dominant species and drove them out of power
@@ShinziiArt Yeah they were definitely annoying, but that was kinda the point. The Calypso Twins for me did exactly what they supposed to. Make me hate them with a passion.
@@noafenton3117 Absolutely, from the get-go I just had to keep in mind that they wouldn't be as good as Handsome Jack. (Whether that's a good thing or not) If I had to rank them from best to worst Handsome Jack Calypso Twins Hector. Commandant Steele. Zarpedon.
It really was the execution sadly. The twins had potential, but I feel like the writing team focused to much on their streamer gimmick, ignoring almost every other aspect to their character. It also doesn't help that they come off as more annoying then funny most the time. Which is sad since every line Jack said was gold.
@@Adam-yq9xe Also they have like what, 2 streammer jokes? Lol, Aurelia has more jokes about being rich than the main antagonists have about their principal trait.
I feel like if they just ran over some voice lines to better tell the story and not make them sound like brats and give them some lines like jack then it would have been a much better game they just needed to portray it better
They were decent antagonist, you just can't compare them to other antagonist. Just focusing on them and the game they were good, now comparing them to Jack they are almost as bad as the destroyer being the ending of borderlands 1.
the concept and themes in the story are actually quite good, the whole delivery and the directions gearbox take the later in the story you get are questionable and a lot of them don't make much sense. Thank god bl3's gameplay is by far the most fun in the series, otherwise this game would have flopped hard considering other factors outside of the game like gearbox's branding decisions and Randy's general dickishness
Why is everything outside of the main missions so much better? Sure I enjoyed the story, certain parts being much better than others, but troy and Tyreen were so lackluster until my second playthrough where I found more backstory and lore. The echo logs actually make them seem like pretty cool villains but in the main story we never see their growth as villains and they're just static characters (minus troys cool development that just got canned in the end for some stupid reason)
Because the villains are not evil enough, think about it. BL2 always remind us how evil Jack is with all his evil doings, BL3 they just kill Maya in an accident and their own bandits. You can't see them as a real threat
@@jacobwells9207 "everyone is the hero of their own story" if you have a villian being evil for the sake of being evil it doesn't feel like a real person with actual motivations. that's part of the reason Jack was such a perfect antagonist. Yeah he was an unredeamable prick but making Pandora civilized isn't an evil goal it's how he went about trying to achieve said goal. The problem with the caylpsos is they want the vaults powers because they have a god complex and while it could be argued Jack has a god complex or at least a hero complex he's not as simple as just wanting to be that almighty
Lilith could have teleported away with the vault map, i hate when hero characters dont use their powers but the villains do. I understand it's to show off the threat from the villains but man, I have to suspend my disbelief so much
My thoughts exactly. It's plotholes like these that easily take you out of the flow of the story. Or how Tyreen is constantly watching you during the whole story and only decides at specific moments to physically interfere in the story instead of all the time. Lilith is meant to be powerful at this point in the story, yet gets handled so easily for the sake of plot.
this is even worst, the antagonist explain their plan to Lilith, and she does everything to help them achieve it. she opens vault for them, basically hand them Maya and tannis unprotected... the all game i wanted to scream at the screen because the protagonist are soooooooo dumb
@@MrSailing101 step 1. get tannis step 2. teleport inside the ship with everyone else. step 3 get off (who waits for the last minute to get fuel anyway?) and how did troy and tyreen ambush her in her own base?? no look out? nothing? or step 1 teleport tyreen or troy on the other side of the door, where 4 badass vault hunters are waiting to kick some ass, and duel the other one. (she was doing good untill she stopped to look at troy tatoo for 3 minutes)
Lilith could not of done anything, @@PablitaOrtega77, then. The first Vault what *REALLY* angered me was MY Vault Hunter character was deliberately taken out of commission via a BS cutscene. We the Vault Hunter(s) are taken out of everything until the extended cutscene finally ends. I really wish BL3 had a branching storyline. Such as if you lost your fight with the Calypso Twins then Maya would of definitely died no matter what. If you won Ava would of been the one to die. That would of made me fight tooth and nail to make sure *I* won.
Ya know. I feel bad for Troy. He basically got corrupted by Tyreen. Hell, she calls him a parasite right infront of him and he doesn't even react. Poor guy...
The story was going in a direction that made it seem like there was going to be a split between Troy and Tyrene, I wish that he would have betrayed her and became the big bad
Troy had loads of potential for being the main antagonist, would’ve been an awesome set up to watch him realise he’s actually more powerful than tyreen after leeching maya
Troy wasn't nearly as strong as tyreen, Lilith is more powerful than maya, tyreen had two powers inside of her, plus multiple vault monsters, while troy has one power and a half
Troy would've been better as a usurper in-waiting (especially around Eden-6 up to the Great Vault). He'd point out much of Tyreen's flaws and delusions at the point before the Vault, and when defeated, he'd still be alive long enough to try and beg Tyreen for more life, only to be leeched instead. I think the real turning point/spoiler was really revealed in the echolog of Troy and Aurelia; how Aurelia believed that "family" was "just another word for war", and that the "sister always wins"
It really is a missed opportunity with Troy, though this has to be said, the way Gearbox painted these two as ‘psycho live streamers’ ruined all care for these characters for most people. They came off as annoying brats especially after we’ve dealt with bandit warlords, cooperate military enforcers and CEO of weapons manufacturers already. Here’s hoping Gearbox learn their lesson in not trying to paint the cover of a book to hide its true hidden secrets, sometimes a cover turns off people before they even touch to open it.
@@anansidragon9040 sometimes don't judge a book by it's cover doesn't work. The point of a cover is to attract people to read a book. If it fails to do that, people will be more inclined to skip the book. Yes you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but if the writer doesn't give a shit about the book, then why should the reader?
I honestly like their style, I think what was missing was more "evil". If you remember bl2, Jack was really charismatic, but every single moment we were reminded that he was really evil, all the time he was torturing people, killing, destroying towns, experimenting on them and with his own daughter as well, mentally abusing everyone including us. He was the biggest dictator, and WE had to stop it. The Calypsos, they were just bandits... They "killed" Maya (but gearbox didn't made us fell like a big deal), and a bunch of their own bandits, they were like "no one holds me, I'm gonna go bad". There is a fine line between bad guy and edgy guy, and Gearbox were not able to cross the line with those two.
Troy's character arc was way more compelling, and it did create a lot of suspense for what his relationship with his sister would turn into He began life with everyone around him including himself believing he was a helpless cripple and surviving only in his sister's shadow. Then when he leeches Maya, he not only is able to survive without her, he realized his true potential of being able to use the leech's power in reverse, giving siren powers to his followers. Its a shame that they didn't do anything to pay this off though. They built up the tension this power shift caused so well! If they only let it explode or have the twins reconcile it, either way would have been better.
@I want to suplex Joe Cecot Yah I feel like if they went in reverse and just went "hey Troy while leeching his sister leeched her too much and took her power too" would have been more compelling to see him do this by accident and freak out over her death since he actually had some sort of conscious and go after the vault hunter in a fit of rage because he went to far amd now he can't undo this it would have made a more interesting character since his design looked cooler and I would have loved to see the destroyer with a giant sword and seeing troy filled with grief trying to kill the vault hunter
Tbh the calypso twins in the echo logs sound way better than what we got Plus troys character isn't too bad, its just that they focused on tyreen too much, but her design is pretty cool if ya ask me :/
You know what would have been cool? Instead of fighting just Troy, the first real battle with the Calypso Twins could have been a tag team boss fight where you fought both at once. But you only have to defeat one of them and the other later becomes the final boss of the game. Would have add a ton more to repeatability and would have developed them more.
Troy had so much potential, he got manipulated by Tyreen and was forced to stay with her unless he wanted to die. He was the brain behind everything they accomplished and got pushed back to the shadows. He developed so much after absorbing Maya's powers, and it started to seem like he would be the end game boss rather than Tyreen, but I think the writers had already decided to have Tyreen as the end game boss so they instead chose to give Troy an unjust death that was basically pointless to the story...
Streamers: The Calypsos are such a bad representation of streamers. Also streamers: WHAT IS UP MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! GOD-QUEEN TYREEN COMING AT YA LIVE!

They actually had really good potential to be pretty cool villains...gear box unfortunately just didn't handle it the right way....but..both are still way better than Ava
@@mostattaa1646 They needed a good writing team to really help bring out both Troy and Tyreen's potential..especially since Maya had to die for Troy's development..which lets be honest here..his development got nowhere kinda fast.
It is weird how many people apparently didn't understand the story until you laid it out here. It was excellent. You can definitely see the signs of Troy beginning to reach for independence, but people expecting him to just turn immediately are really expecting too much. Whatever his conflicts with his sister, she did keep him alive for years when should could have left him anywhere. She did show appreciation towards what he brought. They had a lot of fun together. Why would he instantly flip on her? Maybe in years. Maybe he gets sick of her... maybe he gets a redemption arc. But this plot was moving way to fast for anything like that to happen.
I legit quite like Troy's character "development", I just wish that he ended up accidentally killing Tyreen when charging Elpis, by leeching all of her strength. Imo, wouldve made the story a bit better.
Would have been nice for him to either be the final boss cause he'd betrayed tyreen or maybe have some redemption Arc where he goes back home and meet typhon.
19:58 in my school vr game, the Grazen reversed Troy life and he died to Cellular deverstation (a form of divine punishment for male sirens for exsisting)
Yo who woulda thought troy was actually a woke soldier with those lines about “leaders saying shit that isnt true” and how katagawa was a “trust fund kid”. Genius stuff
Tyreen and Troy kind of remind me of Cersei and Jaime from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. Not the twincest but the thing that in both pairs the female was the more dominant of the two and were dragging their respective brother to darkness with them. On the other hand the brothers were submissive and had a potential to become quite decent human beings if only they had better role model.
Handsome Jack was one of the best villains ever. He's definitely hard to live up to and the calypso twins fail in that regard. I feel like gearbox wanted people to hate them. They knew that they couldn't make a vilian as well liked as Jack, so they decided to go the opposite way. My main gripe with them is how Troy became a siren. They're fraternal Siamese twins are theoretically possible, but there is no documented case of it ever occurring, or at least them being carried to term. I think Troy being the result of experimentation or genetic engineering would make more sense. And since nearly every borderlands character with known sexuality is gay or bi, a transgender siren would be par for the corse with this franchise.
The twins werent bad as antagonists, I actually thought they were a breath of fresh air, it's just hard to live up to how Handsome Jack developed into a villian and as a character, basically 3 games dedicated to his development and the cause of his actions. The twins were good on their own right, but Jack is one of a kind.
I think there main problem was not fleshing out more of them in just the main story they only talked to insult you and didn't really explain much of there side or life except troy who started rambling about there old life and what happened and how he's finally free which reminded me of jack in the other sequel cause he tried to be a hero but lilith messed it up as well as him being blinded by the power of the warrior throwing him off track to being a villain troy could have done exactly this and been a great villain but it's sad that after he died tyreen didn't show any remorse or grief towards what happened if they at least made her acknowledge what happened and had shown she cared that he died it would have already helped the story alot
It’s ironic how in borderlands 2 jack never interacted in person with the vault hunters until the boss fight (pretty much a coward) , but tyreen and Troy show up several times (underestimated the vault hunters)
They had set up the Troy betrayal as well too. He started out not really wanting anything, certainly nothing that would hurt people and cause destruction. Hell, he wanted to just stay on Nekro with Tyreen and live out their days peacefully without their dad. But unfortunately Tyreen wanted more and he literally had no choice but to go with her or he'd die. When he did get power of his own, stolen from Maya, he even mentions multiple times about his way being better and subtly starts asserting himself more. Many of us saw the real possibility of him betraying her, likely leeching her to death as he is still able to do that AND he'd gain all her stolen powers as well, but he never did. He stayed faithful to his sister and her dream, probably only because he had also assumed her dream as his own by then. I think they went about it in an alright way honestly. Making him betray her is easy to screw up, but it's also pretty simple to get right as well. The ground work for the betrayal was already laid in their dialogue and story. Had he leeched her and became the main antongist by himself, he'd have been more of a threat than Tyreen did by leeching his corpse, because he'd have gained her leech powers (to Leech ANYTHING alive instead of just Sirens), in addition to Lilliths and his already acquired Maya powers. Then he can leech the destroyer and instead of Tyreen, who never had the powers of Maya at her disposal, you have Troy in possession of all the abilities including the power boost from the Destroyer and that's just a nightmare. Honestly if they made another DLC and it was a non cannon alternate ending style thing just for fun, and had that happen, Troy would be a ridiculously hard raid boss.
during the Atlas at Last mission, when you just start it, Tyreen mentions something about giving Katagawa Jr a "little push", and coincidentally, Katagawa Jr now has a blatant copy of Zer0's Atlas gear. Whether Tyreen actually gave Katagawa the blueprints[?], maybe just a full on remake of the suit, or if Katagawa had the suit in the works ever since Atlas became a problem, I don't know - but i'm still curious.
Troy is actually a really good villain and character imo I do like that he turned tyreen into the god queen plus when he actually got power he was fairly cool compared to miss shallow. Hell she treated him poorly after all of the things he did for her
Exactly, @@jacobwells9207. This most likely is the very reason why Troy had to die... alongside our hopes and dreams that BL3's story would *eventually* get better. Now if he had betrayed his sister and even turned out to be somehow an Eridian or what have you now this would of really sparked the moment, "Wow! The Great War the Guardian mentioned at the end of TPS is really coming to fruition!".

a video about typhon would be nice. also it goes to show that people lived on pandora long before the companies came in. like in history, people live in areas long before the public show up.
I really like Handsome Jack because he's the definition of the quote (I don't know where it comes from) that says that a villain is only a hero whose story hasn't yet been told. Because he isn't bad until Lilith punches that artefact in his face. And his dream to purge Pandora of the bandits and scum is not a bad idea. His execution of it is the thing that sucks. I like the Calypsos' backstory, but since they don't have another depth than they're the bad guys, cult leaders and "Gods", I can't like them as much as a villain with a past made of good and whose devotion to ending corruption is so intense. Maybe I just like Jack, I don't know. XD
I honestly think the biggest problem that they had with these 2 honestly comes down to tone. They spent too much time portraying them as fun villains, and while this was true of Jack, as well, they never really had their changeover to be menacing and serious the way Jack did. Because of this, it never really felt like we were doing anything to effect their decisions. This made us feel like witnesses to the story rather than drivers of said story.
I mean their story fell apart toward the end because all the buildup went nowhere and it was like what could have been was just abandoned. BUT never have I had such a videogame crush as on these two. So mixed feelings. 💁♀️
The influencer thing seems like a good idea for a villain. The narcissism, conceited self centered personality and the crazy people stupid enough to worship them does write itself
I honestly really like the idea of a male siren. It's something unexplored in the series. Even with my limited knowledge I know that male sirens shouldn't exist. But it's such an interesting idea. I wish they explored it more. Troy as a character was fun to see how he worked. Wish we saw more of him.
I hate how so many people online just define them as 'streamers'. Way better to describe them as cult leaders who take advantage of communication technology to spread their cult.
@@Adam-yq9xe No one in the history of ever has said they aren't. My comment said that it's a very simplified view of them. How can you misinterpret that?
@@adxdenerlx6969There were only like 2 or 3 scenes where they were presented as streamers. Usually they acted like the cult leaders they are. But everyone seems to hate them mostly because of that reason. Guess i'm just one of the few people who actually liked them.
Their backstory is pretty legit in concept. They wanted to become something great but ended up with power that enabled them to become something greater. They're still annoying live streamers, but the motive turns out to be a twisted childhood dream. I can dig that. The developers failed to execute them as characters tho. Little to no opportunities for growth and development, and the opportunities that were present were missed. And it's a real shame too. They were annoying and the dialogue was just not funny, but that's all subjective. They were pretty sharp by Borderlands standards. They could've been great antagonists. Sucks to say, but the twins are the epitome of wasted potential.
They made them act like handsome jack and abit Of RUclips streamers. But Handsome Jack was WAY BETTER. And Ava because of how selfish and annoying she acted
Another problem with then is that they don't leave an impact as much as Jack did. There were two dlcs about the effects of jacks power. Tina lost her father figure roland and her parents to hyeprion. Mordecai lost blood wing, etc
I freaking love Troy. I was sad when he died. He didn't KNOW any better for some things, but other things, he knew he couldn't get anywhere without his evil sister. Tyreen was only selfish, as she did not get all that she wished for when she was younger. But I love Troy, his character had lots of potential. Lots of undertones people don't pick up on really and it's sad because they just sweep him under the rug as "villainy" when truly he isn't. :/
You know, i really wish i could understand why troy had to die in such a lackluster way, if they had made tyreen get killed thanks to troy draining too much power it would have been better after all, troy could be motivated to universe destruction if given his own goal
Just getting back into Borderlands and it’s such a shame how they turned out. Troy had so much potential and was so close to being an amazing character. Something like a redemption arc could have made him one of the few characters to get close to handsome Jack. Tyreen needed a larger rewrite to make better. I think the whole “they’re streamers” thing gets really old really fast and the fact that it her voice makes it so much worse. Idk. Interesting to see that she’s still not a great person even before all this but had some sort of depth.
Some of the dialogue between Arialia and the Calypsos heavily foreshadowed that Tyreen would eventually turn on her brother. I was actually surprised when it didn't happen.
Honestly with the echologs, espacily with "Building A God-Queen" I think the twins would have been a far better choice for Maya's student than the brat we got. Tho we would have needed a different villian then. Or even working with the current Troy Arc, having Troy as Villian sucking Tyreen from her powers going on rampage leaving his sister behind to join the raiders. So to speak giving Tryo the "bad character arc" - turning to a villian And Tyreen the "good character arc" - turning to good
I had massive hopes that at some point the rift between Tyreen and Troy would grow too much, him perhaps actually feeling pity and wanting to help the people of Pandora regain their senses, while Tyreen would just become too obsessed with her god complex schtick.
This is the epitome of wated potential! If they stick with the Bandit warlord or siren on a path of conquest or something like that it would be fun! But nooo they say, they want a streamer.
My first playthrough was with amara who is a siren too. I was always wondering why the calypsos never attacked the vault hunters/ Amara in particular. There is a Siren right before them similar to lillith/ maya but no the vault hunters get completely ignored.
To be honest gearbox where victims of there success making a villain like handsome jack that was gonna be hard to top but yah know they have it a try and I say they did ok
Is it possible that Troy Calypso could come back? I wish he would because he had potential to be the big villain of Borderlands 3. Edit: I thought of a way Troy could come back! Remember the anointed, the enemies "blessed" by Troy to kill us? Let's say that after the campaign, we start getting news that the anointed are becoming more organized and are mutating more. When Troy anointed these guys, he left a very small piece of himself into each anointed. The anointed are led by "Prophets of Troy" who are diverting COV forces and anointed to the site where Troy died. These Prophets then channel anointed energy to the death site and with enough time and effort, COULD bring back Troy in some ghostly way. Troy may not have Siren powers, but he would have great influence and a different set of powers.
Despite all of the flaws and things everyone hates about them, i find them to be pretty well developed when u look at all the optional content u can find. Personally i didn't mind them as villians
I love Troy man. You can tell they were trying to bring him from an underling to realizing how awesome he was to himself from Eden-6 onwards. They could have totally done so much more with him and I think he's got that charm Jack had but he just didn't really get an opportunity to shine long enough.
Since tyreen is dead. Maybe the next game's siren could have her power. It would be the coolest thing ever. I can imagine it now. A melee focused action skill like brick. With a focus on life steal. Or maybe a hunger bar that replaces your shield and you have to keep meleeing to keep it topped up. And the less topped up it is, the more lifesteal you get. And when you kill with leech, you could get some special effect. Like maybe skags could give you move speed, and varkids give you a projectile for your melee attack and so one. And you use your hunger bar to keep using the abilities. It would be an amazing mechanic. And we can have another melee based vault hunter. It would be a throwback, a new vault hunter, a new mechanic, a new resource to manage, and new lore for a new character all at once. I can only hope it will happen.

It really was the execution sadly. The twins had potential, but I feel like the writing team focused to much on their streamer gimmick, ignoring almost every other aspect to their character. It also doesn't help that they come off as more annoying then funny most the time. Which is sad since every line Jack said was gold.

Never like twins at all in borderlands 3 relly miss hadsome jack a lot jack best bad guys ways better than twins

NO, @@jacobwells9207!
@@adamgray1753 Why are you still here
Because the villains are not evil enough, think about it.

Poor guy...
The story was going in a direction that made it seem like there was going to be a split between Troy and Tyrene, I wish that he would have betrayed her and became the big bad
completely agree
Or have him incidentally drain her to death during his boss battle
Troy had loads of potential for being the main antagonist, would’ve been an awesome set up to watch him realise he’s actually more powerful than tyreen after leeching maya
Woulda been pretty predictable though. Not that what actually transpired was any better.
Troy wasn't nearly as strong as tyreen, Lilith is more powerful than maya, tyreen had two powers inside of her, plus multiple vault monsters, while troy has one power and a half
If the Calpso Twins had the same feeling they had in that first cutscene, they might've been great villains.
Here’s hoping Gearbox learn their lesson in not trying to paint the cover of a book to hide its true hidden secrets, sometimes a cover turns off people before they even touch to open it.
so... ignore "dont judge a book by its cover" and simply say "books should never have covers to begin with?"
@@anansidragon9040 yes
@@anansidragon9040 sometimes don't judge a book by it's cover doesn't work. The point of a cover is to attract people to read a book. If it fails to do that, people will be more inclined to skip the book.
Yes you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but if the writer doesn't give a shit about the book, then why should the reader?
So what you're saying is that Troy and Tyreen played the roles they were given flawlessly and hating them is actually a compliment
Troy's character arc was way more compelling, and it did create a lot of suspense for what his relationship with his sister would turn into
He began life with everyone around him including himself believing he was a helpless cripple and surviving only in his sister's shadow.
Fuck Troy
I agree
Tbh the calypso twins in the echo logs sound way better than what we got
Plus troys character isn't too bad, its just that they focused on tyreen too much, but her design is pretty cool if ya ask me :/
You know what would have been cool? Instead of fighting just Troy, the first real battle with the Calypso Twins could have been a tag team boss fight where you fought both at once. But you only have to defeat one of them and the other later becomes the final boss of the game. Would have add a ton more to repeatability and would have developed them more.
Ooooo, Ornstein and Smough vibes! That would've been amazing!

Typhon, Tyreen, and Troy are Frank, Dee, and Dennis from "It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia". Change my mind.

Not the twincest but the thing that in both pairs the female was the more dominant of the two and were dragging their respective brother to darkness with them. On the other hand the brothers were submissive and had a potential to become quite decent human beings if only they had better role model.
The cutscene incompetence is so egregious in this game

“FLEE IN PANIC!! TRAMPLE ALL IN YOUR PATH!!!!”
I feel like most people only hate Tyreen and Troy because they had a tough enemy to live up to like Handsome Jack
No they are just crungt and annoying
It is hard to live up to a villain like Jack.
But that's not the whole point. They just aren't as developed in the story.
Troy: "Find out what they want and promise it to them, even if its a total lie. that's what leaders do"
Sounds like modern politics
Troy is actually a really good villain and character imo
I do like that he turned tyreen into the god queen plus when he actually got power he was fairly cool compared to miss shallow. Hell she treated him poorly after all of the things he did for her
Man their echo logs and lore is WAY better than all their main quest dialogue
Still can’t understand the fact that they were conjoined twins and only Troy has a bionic arm. Where are Tyreen’s scars, she seems absolutely normal.
Maybe her scars are on her back covered over by cape Or any other part of her body that hidden by cloths
That, my friend, is the plague of Mary Sue-ism at work: damage men all you want, but never damage a woman
Exactly, @@jacobwells9207. This most likely is the very reason why Troy had to die... alongside our hopes and dreams that BL3's story would *eventually* get better.
XD
I prefer angels backstory
I honestly think the biggest problem that they had with these 2 honestly comes down to tone. They spent too much time portraying them as fun villains, and while this was true of Jack, as well, they never really had their changeover to be menacing and serious the way Jack did. Because of this, it never really felt like we were doing anything to effect their decisions. This made us feel like witnesses to the story rather than drivers of said story.
I kinda hope in the next borderlands we can play as a siren with tyrenes powers.

So to speak giving Tryo the "bad character arc" - turning to a villian
And Tyreen the "good character arc" - turning to good
I had massive hopes that at some point the rift between Tyreen and Troy would grow too much, him perhaps actually feeling pity and wanting to help the people of Pandora regain their senses, while Tyreen would just become too obsessed with her god complex schtick.
Troy was baby he didn't deserve any of this :(
This is the epitome of wated potential! If they stick with the Bandit warlord or siren on a path of conquest or something like that it would be fun! But nooo they say, they want a streamer.
Can we all admit this:
Troy >Tyreen
I prefer troy in early story but tyreen later on, I was kinda hoping tyreen would betray him and steal his powers
The calypsos had so much potential
My first playthrough was with amara who is a siren too. I was always wondering why the calypsos never attacked the vault hunters/ Amara in particular. There is a Siren right before them similar to lillith/ maya but no the vault hunters get completely ignored.
Flee in panic! Trample all in your path! Has a whole new meaning here in 2020. Some one sneezes someone probably is going to shout it.
I would rather be get redemption
@Cookie Cat Hmmm, there was "The Time-Keeper" from Tales From The Borderlands.
@Cookie Cat oh woops
"FLEE AND PANIC, TRAMPLE ALL IN YOUR PATH" (immense screaming)
Sums up 2020 so far
Why don't you do something like this watching news in the news guests already said it was fake
Nice vid man! Its no sup matto vid 😢 but great job non the less
Despite all of the flaws and things everyone hates about them, i find them to be pretty well developed when u look at all the optional content u can find. Personally i didn't mind them as villians
When they took Lilith's powers, I just said to my cousins who were playing this me, "she is getting sniper shot and shotgunned in the face"
I love Troy man. You can tell they were trying to bring him from an underling to realizing how awesome he was to himself from Eden-6 onwards. They could have totally done so much more with him and I think he's got that charm Jack had but he just didn't really get an opportunity to shine long enough.
"I'm gonna put dubstep over your death and post it on the echo-net and get loads of veiws. It's gonna be friggin' awesome" - the handsome sorcerer.
I feel bad for troy he was just a nice guy who just wanted to help his sister
In my opinion they did a good job making you hate them. I think that’s what a villains for. It also made it a lot more sweeter when you killed them
