brian.dudek that specific moment was my realignment of the “slack”. Some minute hands have a bit of give, where it’s a touch loose. The hand may appear to move but actually doesn’t do anything to the gearing. The age of this clock has a bit more than others.
I’ve tried this step and it didn’t work it’s still an hour behind. I have an Alaron 31 day clock I just purchased at an estate sale. It does keep time well though. Could there be something else wrong

I found with my clock. a grandfather one with pendulum- you move the tall needle back from 12 to 7(35mins) and take it back to 12(the hour)- it should strike perfect.!
what if an old clock striks 5 on the half hour,i have tried everything but still when clock goes round 24 hours it begins to strik 4 0r 5 or 7 on half hours were it should always only be once ?
The striking may be out of sync with the time, just turn the minute hand past 30 once without stopping for it to strike. This should make the clock switch the strikes so it strikes several hours on 12 and once on 30 again. Then you just need to adjust the hour hand to the number of times it strikes and finally adjust the right time. But now you must stop at 30 and 12 and wait for the clock to strike
if it has a pendulum the length of that should be adjusted. there should be a screw at the bottom bit under the pendulum. the time goes slow or fast depending on the temperature(climate-winter/summer)

Someone turned your clocks hour hand backwards. It's not hard to fix but getting to the part that is bent means taking it in to someone who works on clocks. They're going to want money and will go over your clock, clean, oil, and fix anything wrong. Sorry
Not sure if you fixed your issue already but you can try taking off the minute hand from the dial and turn it slightly on its inner metal circle. They’re are couple videos about that here. But it’s quite delicate work
Fallen Anjel it’s always good advice to only move the minute hand forward. The hour hand, as shown here doesn’t effect the clock like the minute hand would. Moving the minute hand backwards can cause chiming or striking to get out of sequence.

Rhonda Bernard you can, just be sure to keep chains or cables right so they don’t come loose from the gears. Also remove weights and pendulum so they don’t damage themselves or the case in transport.
I got an even more fun issue my clock chimes the westminster chime but it chimes 12/13mins to late. So it will chime the hour at 12mins pass what ever the hour is.... I'm trying to figure out how to fix that sigh... not enough info on here about these old clocks.
I'm not the best at teaching so I'd recommend you look up a video on it. When the clock chimes, stop the pendulum. Where the hands are, there should be a screw on cap or pin. take or unscrew it off. Then you want to remove the minute hand. Once the minute hand is separated from the clock, put it back on, but this time make the it is pointing at the 12. I hope I helped!
activetruman Thanks! I actually figured out awhile back how to set things up perfectly, my only issue with the clock now is getting it in beat. But the issues with that I assume is the book shelf my girl friend wants it on. I bet if I placed it on a better surfaced I'd of had it working perfectly by now. Once our place gets cleaned up better I'll find a nicer place for our clock and have it always going. But thanks once again for trying to help!

I'm confused, at 1:18 you said don't push the minute hand counter clockwise but then at 2:00 you did just that? Did I miss something?

I have tried, but the hands are tightly fixed and they can't be moved manually. Mine is from Hermle.
