I would turn off the lights in my bedroom sit on the floor and play this tune just melt into the music. It took me about 10 -15 minutes to come back...tears streaming down my face. Truly otherworldly.
Saw Ronnie perform this in 1980 with my then boyfriend. We got married and had it played at our wedding. Our son is now a man and has left home....we didn't realise how meaningful it would be but it struck a chord with both of us all those years ago.. I cannot listen to it without a few tears 😢
This song leads me to think of my father who passed away in 2015. REST IN PARADISE MR. EDWARD LEE LANE SR. I often listen to this tune and think of the wisdom he left with me.....A generation gone. Beautiful song!
YES THIS IS THE SAME FOR ME AND MY DADDY WHO PASSED AWAY. HE WOULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG SO MUCH. IT BRINGS BACK FOND MEMORIES. :)

By Far one of if not the greatest song of my life. Now I look back when I first heard it I was 15 years now 2 GENERATIONS ahead 6 Children all grown and on their own and 7 Grand children. Man he was right nothing stays the same. Thanks for this beautiful song that I grew up listening to....damn tears flowing on the back beat its so touching!

I just saw Ronnie Laws live in Pittsburgh, PA. He performed this song and I could have wept for the sheer beauty of it. I have listened to and loved this song for a long time but it is something altogether different when you see and hear it performed live.

absolutely this is called the best sounds in music. In our state of Utah, I don't really hear this music anywhere. I have happened upon it just by looking for music that is worth listening to. I have much respect for artists that gave us the tunes that we play over and over. Let the music live on!

This truly outstanding track never got any radio time over here in 1980 which is very odd. This piece of music is timeless.
I was fortunate, a small R&B station on the AM dial played it in Denver.
I guess its a regional thing...I grew up in Cleveland, and the black stations back in the 80s played this alot...
