The dark verse is one of the only series I’ve read where the mafia men aren’t misogynistic, they respect women, they see them as equals and it was just so refreshing to read an author write mafia men who aren’t dicks

@@bufferrrring You have the Sinners Anonymous series by Somme Sketcher. It’s still unfinished, there are only 3 books out right now. I like book 2 and 3 more, they’re about the same couple. Definitely not as good as the dark verse series, but I personally enjoyed it!

I totally agree with you! There's such a fine line with dark romance. Dark things and horrific trauma can happen and that's okay. But the male lead cannot be purposely causing it. He cannot be hurting her intentionally because I wouldn't want to go into that type of world and relationship where I'm being treated like absolute ass by my love interest. I had a hard time with Corrupt too because the female lead was manhandled and thrown around and used like a rag doll. It's too degrading without any of the trust to earn it. It's hard to romanticize characters that can't even love their girl right like then what can you do? Then you're just gross

the reaper and predator were my fav from the series and my favorite couple and the chemistry is what i search for in every romance book! love love loved it! I'm so glad you enjoyed it too, it was an immediate 5 star for me too!! i also gave 3 star the third book as well wasn't my fav but still good. and O M G i could not agree more about the two lines of dark romances book and the devil night series was just HORRIBLE. i tried the first one and DNF'ed it so damn fast it was a str8 up NO!

emily mcintyre’s series is SO good. it’s perfect for you bc you would love how the characters are written. they actually have personalities outside of being “dark” & “morbid” & they actually have reasons for being that way. PLUS THE WOMAN ARE AMAZING. literally amazing. a huge rec
oh my gosh! I just read Crossed and loved it!! I totally agree, her FMC's are all incredible. And I like that the "dark" parts of the romance are there for a reason and it's not like gross and annoying? idk if that makes sense lol. It's definitely not justified but also it's a little justified? It's toxically good.

I LOVED The Reaper, it’s one of my top reads this year. I still have to start book 4 in the series! Also, I too had stayed away from dark romance PRECISELY because many other recs on TikTok excused the mc being a bully or verbally/physically abusive towards the women because “it comes with the genre.” So I was convinced it was true and stopped reading it. THEN I found Darkverse. I love Tristan and Morana so much😌

Haunting Adeline was my first dark romance and I finished the due in two days, the audiobook is so good too, Teddy Hamilton is a great narrator 😭 now I'm obsessed w dark romance/mafia kinda books, like if the dude doesn't kill bad ppl then I don't wanna read it 😭

I really wish she could’ve given devils night another chance 😭 I remember absolutely despising Damon the same exact way but when you get to his book, you realize exactly how much Penelope snapped with his character. Hideaway was hard to get through for me too, but kill switch was so worth it and had me in tears. 😭

So I kind of agree with you on this I read Credence I liked it, but I’m not gonna lie. There were some things as to the guy that she picked. There’s no way I would’ve picked him like he was Hella disrespectful.😭 and then the girl low-key got on my nerves cause she like at first she wasn’t she was like I loved her. She was like a baddie, but then when she kinda like picked the guy that she was picked, she expected him to change for her, even though he never change for anyone not even his entire family, and I just thought that that was like a little bit of a reach, because the reason why he was a certain way was because of something traumatic, and he she just wanted him to forget about that that was just weird to me.😂

I always have to read a light cheesy romance after a marathon of dark romance to balance it out
no cos to me the devils night series, the plot and the characters it all makes sense once u actually understand why they do what they do. idk maybe a part of me just really connected with the characters and in general i love every penelope douglas book lol. it's so hard for me to hear criticism on this series bc its everything that i love in dark romance and its interesting to see how someone can see it as the total opposite. in general, i have too strayed away from dark romance only because there's so much hate and negativity surrounding it, when really, everyone's taste is different and you should enjoy what you like. i think it's great that there's so many types of books even in a subgenre so there's something for everyone
Okay but I love this, I usually just avoid dark romance review and videos because I know how much hate is usually in them (the main reason I watched this one was because it’s Steph) I understand the criticism for a lot of the tropes but I feel like people don’t always understand that that’s kinda the point it’s meant to be deep and taboo and something you would never condone in reality but it’s like a moment to switch off your morals and just get sucked into a messed up romance which I love, I 100% understand that that isn’t for everyone and a lot of people like to read books they can see themselves in so I understand that for those people they wouldn’t like a lot of dark romance but i just wish people would respect those who enjoy dark romance the way most of the people who enjoy dark romance respect those who don’t

@@dishamushahary Haunting and Hunting Adeline are my personal favs (they were my first dark romance) I've also read HD Carltons other book Does It Hurt (not as dark but I still loved it!) I enjoyed the ritual, the sinner, the sacrifice (lord's series by shentel Tessier) :) I also LOVED Pen Pal by JT Geissinger (not super dark but a paranormal romance and it was SOOOOO good).

Haunting adeline was my first dark romance book and i was obsessed with it until I picked up The dark verse series. The Predator got me squealing, gasping for air, throwing my legs and smiling till my cheeks hurt. Can't wait to finish the whole series!!
