    Your definition of aromatic was correct. We don't experience romantic attraction or, in my case, sexual attraction. Instead we (at least me) prefer to just be friends or hang out, which doesn't always go over well with people who think you like them.

      Thanks, I do try and give everyone valid definitions of everything and speak the truth in my videos rather than giving everyone false information. How long have you known you were aromantic for??

      Aromantic people can also feel sexual attraction. Obviously there are people who don't feel either, but the two attractions aren't really related.

    I've never felt the need to chase sex. I am completely averse to dating. The idea of one night stands and having sex with someone who you don't care about is not appealing to me at all. In fact, it's quite disturbing to me. Most sexual situations have made me feel uncomfortable or I just lost interest very quickly. However, I have enjoyed sexual situations where I had feelings for her, so I guess that makes me demi or gray-a.

    Haha I loved that sunset analogy! I just sort of realized I'm asexual and watching this video made me feel more comfortable with it. I can relate so much to what you said throughout the video. I think it's difficult since I go to college in the US and college in the US (not sure if it's like this everywhere) is completely sexualized. I'm glad people like you are bringing awareness to asexuality. Hopefully, more people will begin to understand and respect asexual people.

      +Quiet Keys I'm glad you enjoyed the video (and the analogy haha). I understand the problem of the education system being 'sexualised', it's the same in the UK. It's simply because liking sex is the norm and we just got to accept and understand that I supposed and hope that people who are not asexual can accept us for who we are too

    Soo I'll just start typing now... don't exactly know where this will lead to....I am Ace. I don't know if this will change someday, but I really don't care. I was just glad, I found a word to explain, how I feel. I am out to like a couple of close friends and they all reacted very positive. They all don't really care that much (like in a positive way...).I once had an situation where someone said something about asexuality in like a bad way. I asked, what was so bad about it. She answered that she just could not imagine being asexual. I thought about that and realized, that I could not imagine being sexual as well.... So I think I'm just fine with that.I'm very glad to see an asexual in a video, because I've chatted with loads of people on the AVEN, but actually seeing someone and thinking: 'Well that person would actually like a relationship only with cuddles and kisses without sex!' This was always something I could not really imagine.... I'm also scared that when I meet a man, he's just wanting to have sex and would only want me because of my body and nothing else. So I really hope to find someone, I can cuddle up with and have a nice couple live without sex.P.S.: Sorry that this is so messy... hope you get what I try to say :)

    I just recently came out as asexual. I don't think it's as big a deal as coming out as gay or whatever and I think society has made me think of it that way. When everyone I knew was out and about having sex and whatever I was just sitting at home watching Breakfast At Tiffany's. I wish I liked sex. I always thought 'I'm a virgin, I don't even know what I'm talking about' so I decided to try it and my result was that I don't care for it at all. everyone I've talked to that has said 'you can't have a relationship without sex. It's not a real relationship. You can't really love someone without sex.' I didn't think anyone understood how I felt about it. I really did think I was broken. But I went online and I researched and found asexual. As I was reading I realised there are more people out there like me. And as I was watching your video I found I could relate to a lot. I still haven't actually talked to anyone about it. But only because no one has asked about it. I posted it on Facebook and found out I had a friend that was also asexual. I had never been more happy to find there was at least one other person that was like me. It makes me mad because most people think I'm lying or 'hiding my true feelings'. I honestly thought I was alone and broken and no one Understood. Thank you for posting this and showing me and every other asexual that they're not alone.
    P.S. sorry its so long, I just kept typing and typing and before I knew it I had a giant paragraph lol

      +ItsStephSword I am so glad that my video had such a big effect on you, thank you for taking the time out to comment. You sound really similar to me and my peers and other people around me also thought I was lying when I told them that I have never thought about having sex with anyone whatsoever. I'm sorry to hear that being asexual has made you feel as though you are 'broken'. Hopefully now knowing that there are actually millions of people out there just like you has made you feel better about who you are

    • @ItsStephSword
      @ItsStephSword 9 лет назад

      +Cookee Monsterr Yeah I definitely feel much better about myself now that I know I'm not the only one out there. Other people are like me. Whenever I told my mum that I didn't care for sex she always told me that 'I would find the right person and that will change'. I'm not super open to talking about it just yet but eventually it will feel good to talk about it and I will be proud. But right now, I'm still getting through the 'this is what I am, just accept it' stage

    Recently came to the conclusion that I was asexual after watching Ricky Dillon's video, but I've been watching a lot of asexuality coming out videos just to make sure of it before I told anyone. I'm very happy I stumbled upon your video. I've seen a lot of asexuality videos but I've never related to every single thing and feeling that someone has said until yours. It makes so much sense now. I know people don't like labels, but I'm very happy to finally label my sexuality and fully understand it. However, it's very scary. I don't know anyone else where I live who is asexual, so like. How will I ever find another relationship? You know? It's just a scary thought. Like I'm afraid that all guys ((p.s. this is a girl and I am hetero-romantic) will just expect sex. My first and only relationship that I was ever in was with a guy that expected me to go past first base. But I never did. And he would sometimes touch me all over my body but I was like, "I literally told you that I didn't want to do that." And this guy constantly made me feel like I was broken. Like I was the only person in the world that didn't masturbate. And that I was wrong for not wanting to. He would beg me to try it. "to experience the wonder". Whatever the hell that means. Honestly, the way that sexual people talk about masturbation and sex seems so cheesy and silly to me. Needless to say I'm out of that relationship, and looking for another one. But now that I know other people feel the same way about sex, and now that I know I'm not the only person that doesn't have sex or masturbate, I feel very happy. For years I thought I was wrong, and then my ex boyfriend basically confirmed those beliefs. But I am free now. And I'm very happy to be me. The asexual-me. Thank you. :)

      Also, I just watched your video that follows this one. And wow. I seriously feel the exact same way. I wish I wanted to have sex, but I just don't. It would make things easier though! but my story is different.
    I'm asexual because hate the physical iological body. Actually I don't have any attraction to any other body physically.
    Are you in love ? How that possible? I still have sex feelings but I'm trying to avoid them, not to hide it from the world, but I feel that's unclean.
    May be the difference is I'm 31 years old and you are just 19.
    So I don't feel any safe or any happy or spiritually binded with a female partner.

  • @chestersdad07
    @chestersdad07 7 лет назад

    I'm the same. I appreciate beauty from an aesthetic/artistic lens, rather than sexual attraction. Interestingly enough, I have a pro-sex view when it comes to politics and culture. I am all for decriminalization of sex work, pornography and absolutely hate prudish attitudes towards sexuality in the media and culture. It could be me projecting my lack of sexual attraction onto culture by being adamant in supporting other peoples' enjoyment of sexuality in pop culture.

    hi, im sorry if i cant communicate fluent english, im from the philippines and the society is new on this and i think i am an ace and partly aromantic.. I came from an uptight, strict but family oriented that upholds very much of the fundamentalist christian way of living vs the Catholicism wc is the Majority of our country on the Spiritual aspect... On family, I value so much of our nuclear family that things will always be the same even if we go old... Im scared that the 5 of us siblings share this mentality cause upto now we have no romantic relationship whatsover since highschool and are stil living with the folks.. We are already grown up ages ranges 24-32 and we.have a special sibling bond. When we where young our dad sports as and we where dubbed as the Filipino Version of The Family Von Trapp coz everyone are musically inclined and if nt everyone has agood voice but can hold a good tune. We where invited on the typically filipino functions.... Thats why i may think this must be the contributing factor and i am really bothwred that they are Aces to
    As for me, i think im coituphobic, i do M i do have sexual thoughts but the act itself.. i felt that i cant please my partner that well.. To add salt in tge injury, i was diagnosed with a L5andL6 spine problem.. Theres that thought that i would have much problem to perform.
    I obeserved that i have Avoidant personality, and slighty agoraphobic. I might love the idea of sex but the act itself i find it boring.
    Can someone advice me about this.

    • @CookeeMonsterr
      @CookeeMonsterr  8 лет назад +1

      +alannacrystal be open about your sexuality. It's okay to date people who are 'sexual' so long as they know how you feel about the matter and are supportive of that. Don't hide the fact you are like this as people should respect it and be interested in the way that you are. If people are not supportive then honestly that person is not worth getting into a relationship with. Hope this helped!!

      Thanks, it really did. I'm considering dating as I never did it at school, college or university as not many people caught my eye (they were idiots or not attractive to me), let alone anybody who wanted a romantic relationship. I've started looking at Match and eHarmony but I prefer meeting people irl. I have this (somewhat naive) idea that Mr Right's out there somewhere. Call me a sappy romantic girl in her 20s if you like lol but that's what I hope will happen someday. xD
