I just realized that it just sent me to the same website it's the same file. It had the same crashing problem faulting thread issues.
It’s same website but different page with different version this one is 8678bec version. The latest one is not this version.
I didn’t see this before finishing the setup and I ran into that problems, how do I delete this version now

@@Zaizeku So far so good! I have defeated the Bogimoray and have just been released to the next town. Game is running 40-60 fps pretty much the whole time. A few frame dips here and there (and it always starts off a bit slow upon boot up until a minute or so into gameplay) but nothing that has bothered me too much. Make sure you go to your xenia-canary config file and set vsync to "false" and set your Steam deck fps limiter to 60 in order to not be stuck at the Xbox 360 standard 30 fps.

Literally the game I was trying to install this for, but I keep getting error messages...that and for whatever reason the Rom Manager decided to name it "Hentai XXX Plus: Jigsaws Vol.1". Thankfully, it didn't run, but boy I'd love to know why that happened.
Was about to ask if this game ran on this emulator great to know this runs 100% with no problems. My only question is can you switch disc when it ask you to switch game disc without losing gameplay data?

Hi this worked great for me. I was only interested in one game, Driver: San Francisco but unfortunately the usa version is missing a lot of gui elements. I'll try some of the other versions and I guess I'll experiment with newer builds of xenia-canary as they get released. Thanka for the great work!

All went well until we got to steam rom manager, I don’t have executable configuration option, I’ve changed the theme to classic/ Deck & Emudeck and I can’t find that option anywhere… What should I do?
Ok so I changed “parser type” to Glob and it gave me the same options as you but when I put Xenia into the executable box and press save it says “error encountered while saving user configuration”???

I tried Gears of War 2 and the game works but as soon as the gameplay begins there is no lighting anywhere, the gunshot flare lights up the area barely but there's some graphical glitch that's making everything pitch black.
Any suggestions?
It’s sad how some people didn’t get their games to work but I tried to run Sonic Unleashed and… it was a success! Thx for this tutorial this is the only way I can play Xbox 360 games on a steam deck before the creators make Xenia supported for Linux
The only downside for Unleashed is that the collectibles you get in the stages their icons won’t show up but other than that it runs great
It's crazy to me that the game console that i grew up with is now emulated. Sadly, since there is no native Linux support, im not gonna download it, but that doesn't take away how cool this is amazing video keep up the good work

Thanks for the great guide. Just a weird question, if i want to play lost odyssey and have to switch to disk 2, do I just remove the old rom add a new one and run steam rom manager again?
You need to install the disk2 as xex file. But I guess you need to convert your file to xex format first.
Were you able to run GoW 1? I'm just getting 'Assertion failed! .... expression !status && vkCreateGraphicsPipelines'. From vulkan, line 2827. I guess its borked.

I gave it a try but I seem to be having a problem when I open Xenia.exe.
It downloaded some information and then it opened and almost immediately took me back out of the application. And I followed your instructions to the letter, even using the proper Xenia-Canary link you told us too in the comments. What can I do?
try resetting your EmuDeck.
So I tried out Halo Reach, it boots up audio works fine but when I get to the menu its just a black screen with the audio still going

I'm have a problem with lost odyssey the game boots but when i click new game it take me to a file browser and idk what to do there, but when i hit cancel i get this prompt " unable to mount {}; file not or corrupt". I appreciate the help
thanks man , gears of war 1 run smooth with patch run 60 fps ,vanquish run very well, Asura's Wrath working ,Metal Gear Solid HD Collection working, Lost Odyssey working ,Tenchu Z working you have to press f5 to avoid glitch texture and run 60 fps if you trun vsync off on xenia , yes i know we need linux app but at least we can play xbox 360 games on steam os , some games works so well and some have glitch but in the end they will fix this problems.

I came here just to play TenchuZ as there is not a game on the market today that embodies the ninja stealth assassin genre much like Tenchu did back in the early 2000's. Can this run on Xenia for a regular desktop on a PC? Might just have to do that instead for the time being.
@@TheKaragatzuClan yes it's run excellent on pc you need to change d3d12 clear memory page state from false to true to avoid glitchs or you can press F5 its do same thing and i recommend used amd gpu if you can for better experience

Skate. - perfect
Dante’s Inferno - perfect
Lollipop Chainsaw - works with massive graphical issues
Gears of war 2, 3, Judgment - world doesn’t load
Can’t wait for linux version

Ive downloaded the canary file and even saved it on the tools section like you showed here however when i click add to steam and go back to gaming mode i am not seeing it 😢

When I press “add to steam” it considers it a game and makes me add it to an existing program on steam. Why?
I got it to work but the games I downloaded are all laggy and pretty much unplayable. It’s there any fix for this as far as settings go

You can try this but no guarantee some game just can’t be emulated thru SD became we don’t have native Linux Xenia.
Tried infinite undiscovery on proton 7.0.6 and proton experimental. It’s way too dark to play
I tested Blue Dragon, it runs but the screen is entirely black, and Infinite Undiscovery which crashes when I press something
Edit: Fable III crashes as well. Spectral Force 3 runs, but missing some audio and some text making it a poor experience

But you do not need to actually put "vulkan" instead of "any" for the gpu right? Since we are using Proton it will translate Direct3D12 to Vulkan on its own, right?
We have to change any to vulkan. Otherwise will end up with booting errors.

Do you have .xex extension file inside the extracted game folder ?
Just try to put the game folder under xbox360/rom folder see if it’s working. If it’s now working then it is not xex format game too.
@@ED4T All in correct position, but Steam Rom Manager doesn’t recognize It. -I'd even then copied the 'unknown' file into the rom folder and nothing registers. Hmm 🤔
Then get an iso format rom.
@@ED4T Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought ISO. are from disc-based releases. My title was an XBLA game, those of which seem to have a different installation or file format??
Maybe I could convert it to ISO? I can’t find any info on the rar./Xenia stuff.
Gears 3 worked well until you enter a game, then it turns black and blue but all gameplay and audio mechanics work fine, just the visuals that are missing the colours and textures.
Does anyone know a way around this? It seems like the game is close to being playable.
My MW3 wouldn’t start at all. It got stuck on a black screen.
Xenia is not natively Linux-supported so it has all kinds of issues depending on the game. once we have the native version I think it will be much better.
I remember back in 2010s where mobile devices start to having more "capabilities" for graphic on a go. Back then emulating PS2 on mobie devices is a niche and seem more of sisyphus task. But look at how things are. I say the future is very bright!!
How do I fix texture issues in config files what do I change
Ok I tried to build it from source via the AUR. The emulator itself launches, and the config file exists. However when you try to load an ISO, it crashes. Hopefully it isn't too far off.
The Linux versions of Xenia is still vey unstable so I won’t recommend to use it also that’s why EmuDeck removed it completely.
Xenia canary refuses to run from me when trying to launch it from steam. Has this happened to anyone else?? Yes I used the version OP suggested
Very nice one :) but we need a linux version for less compatibility issues, To be honest i dont know if that will happen soon, steam deck is already one year old, If the steam deck wasn't reason enough for a linux release, I don't know what will be

i was installing xenai onto my steam deck after watching a video on how to do it after I watch the video I tired to launch the game but it stop with a error it said last error value: 0x2(No such file or directory) Faulting thread name. does anyone know what this could mean and know how to fix it?

After you install EmuDeck. Just copy your game roms into emulation/xbox360/rom folder. I usually put game roms onto my SD card .

I believe i did everything correctly but steam rom won't generate a image or app for 360 games. Everything is in the right folder 360 roms.
After using Steam Rom manager to add the game to my steam library and opening it, xemu says something about not being able to mount, and that the file might be corrupt, even though it works fine when i open the iso in desktop mode
Are you taking about Xbox 360 Xenia or Xbox xemu ?
All went smooth, except... When I get to "Steam ROM Manager", and & click on "Microsoft Xbox 360 - Xenia" from left column, why the right column NOT show any 'browse' tab unless I select "PARSER TYPE"??? But when I select "Glob" and although I locate "xenia_canary.exe" in 'recent' folder, I then SAVE, but when I click on "Preview", my only tab in lower right side is "Parse", but when I click on it I get message: "2 user configuration(s) was/were skipped (invalid)". Please HELP! Thank you.
try reboot your steam deck. if the problem still exists you have to re-install EmuDeck.

Yes you can run steam from desktop mode then go to non steam game and select the Xbox and add to desktop shortcut that will work too.

I don’t have the add to steam option when I copy the Xenia exe?
You can open steam from desktop mode and manually add the Xenia.exe to non steam games under the library.

I am trying to play geometry wars 2 using xenia. I can load it if i run xenia through desktop mode, but i cannot get the Steam Rom Manager to pick it up (probably because it doesnt have an iso file extension). Can someone please help?

You probably downloaded a recent version of it and it crashed when you try to open it. I believe he pinned the version of xenia that works

If you added Xenia into steam it should work. Any game loaded up steam it will treat as steam games.

I’m running into an issue, whenever I try to add to steam instead of doing it it opens up a thing where I get the option to add multiple stuff but when I choose Xenia, go to desktop mode, open the thing and press option then go back to the desktop mode and open the file in the tools section there’s no extra file just the same two files
make sure you have proton 7.0 installed from steam in desktop mode. - so go to desktop mode- open steam then go library in the left search section type in proton 7, and install it first then run xenia.

I cant seem to find my games once I hit preview on emu deck after I set the executable and rom destination. I set them to where you show in the video. There is also no xbox 360 section in parsers either. (also I think I have an updated version)

I followed this to a T but it’s still not loading the game. Screen goes black for 10 seconds or so, sometimes less, but then it just closes back to dashboard.

thanks buddy. Make sure you saved the xenia-canary.config.toml file after changing gpu=vulkan. It could be on lines 207, 208, 209. it doesn't matter.

@@ED4T yea mine is on 208 but I figured as long as I changed the red text to Vulkan it was fine. I just went back to changed it from “any” to “Vulkan” and now the error message changed to “faulting thread name: GPU Commands (01000004) when I boot the game 🤦🏽♂️ lol
That’s awkward. Do you have the latest Xenia. I just tested this whole process yesterday again with latest Xenia and it still works. Xenia was updated 3 days ago.
@@ED4T yea I watched your video last night and decided this morning to give it a shot, I used the direct link you have in the description so I hope that’s the latest version lol, I’m going to try and change the gpu from Vulkan to any and any to Vulkan see if the error changes and update lol
Make sure you don’t have any extra space in that line between each words.

For me line 209 is in 208, when I try to run a game I get an error message. Unterminated string literal at line 208
It should be line 209. Some line somehow was removed on yours. You can try to generate that file. It should be line 209.
