    ✨ About me: ✨
    Hi, I’m Zoe! (Pronounced like Zoey) I’m a 27 year old from Montreal making videos about my REAL life. After quitting my management consulting "dream job", then being laid off from a startup job, I decided to take a chance and work for myself. I'm now mainly focused on RUclips (my absolute passion) and side-hustle contracts in the copywriting and admin fields.
    My videos centre around work, gentle productivity, mental health & personal wellness, with a touch of fashion, tech, and whatever else I'm living. My goal is to be open & honest ALWAYS and for my channel to be a fun, inspiring place where we can set goals and live our best lives together. I would love for you to subscribe 💝

    I put my head down and paid off debts after graduation. Some would say no life but I had a goal. By age 32 I was totally debt free...totally. It so soon nice not seeing a monthly student loan payment, Rent/Mortgage monthly payment, car payment each month. When you have no payments it's amazing how fast the bank account grows....we actually no longer have a budget.

    Winter tires sucks but are100% necessary, it's a safety item. The traction you have with the ground means so much for your ability to handle your vehicle. I'm in the same boat this year. Plan on about ~1k for all four. 200/ea for the tires, 50/ea for the steelies (rims, steel rims, not alloy rims). Make sure you look after your car (at least functionally, cosmetic stuff is a diff story cause it's a splurge/discretionary spend, but winter tires are not a choice, that's functional, oil changes are functional too unless you want to repair an engine for 10k...). Keep up the great work.

    I love what you said about skiing, it's truly one thing that makes us look forward to the winter here and it's so fun and opens up to so many different possibilities like night ski, chalet trips, etc. It's truly an investment and you should definitely feel proud you planned for it and had it in your budget! I love these finance videos of yours so much, they're relatable and familiar but also super inspirational and you give me so many ideas. Congrats on almost 50k, I am so proud to have been here since 10k and will be here at 100k!

    Love these videos for inspiration and removing the stigma about talking about finances/spending. I love and strive to live by the motto you shared about being on a debt payoff journey while still living life/enjoying yourself. That balance is so important! Life doesn't stop just because you have debt.
    Re. your comment on not knowing how to categorize things like supplements/vitamins - I was in a similar boat. Right now I'm grouping it in my Personal spend, but I might break this out into Health/Wellness? Not sure... Would love to see what you ultimately decide!

    Ok I'm so glad you brought up the RMT tip thing - because I'm happy to tip at my spa when my aesthetician does my nails or a relaxation massage, but I don't tip my dentist, so why am I tipping the physiotherapist (especially when RMT massages are already more expensive than a non-registered aesthetician)? It's bugged me for years haha - in any case, agreeing with others here. It's totally normal to have more expensive months. Recently I bought a year membership to gymnastics and it cost a LOT of money, putting me way over budget in August - but now I don't have to pay again for a year. As long as you recognize the abnormalities and can regulate moving forward, that's what matters!

    As an RMT myself, I am completely against tipping. We are health care practitioners (regulated by the RHPA in Canada just like doctors, chiropractors, physios, etc.), yet we are the only ones who think it is acceptable to ask for tips. I think it degrades our profession. We are providing health care - NOT a service - which is where the line gets a little blurry in spas. You won't be offending your therapist if you don't tip them. I refuse tips when some patients offer and just educate them on why :)

    • @adrianapereira17
      @adrianapereira17 9 месяцев назад +1

      Something I just realized - RMTs are regulated in Ontario, but not in Quebec, so that could be why your therapist in Ottawa never asked for tips.

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  9 месяцев назад

      this is SO INTERESTING!! and perfectly sums up how I felt. At a spa if I were getting a massage I would expect to tip but not at a clinic. But it could so be a Quebec thing!

    The only thing I would like to ask is health insurance in Canada more expensive ? I thought it was better then the states ? I wasn’t sure if that is the reason you don’t have health care. Does that worry you? Love your content . I just am in my mid 40s and fortunate I do have health coverage it’s not cheap but it’s a pillow. Happy fall !

      She’s self employed so she wouldn’t get health insurance that covers medications and things like massages, dentists, physio etc. but if she were to go to a hospital, doctors office, etc. that is all free.

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  10 месяцев назад +2

      hi!! yes we have government insurance here in canada/quebec so if anything medical happens I am thankfully covered. Extra insurance would cover things like dentist, eye doctor, massage, etc. but since I am self employed it is way too expensive and not worth it for me, better to pay out of pocket. 👼🏼

    As a massage therapist- we are more under the cosmetology umbrella instead of the ‘medical’ umbrella. Much like an esthetician, no matter if we do medical massage or not. Most of us only get between 30-55% of that massage price, a lot of them are on hourly (usually less than $30/hr). It’s normal just to throw us $10-20 for a tip, a lot less than a hair stylist! Also look at the reviews dropping the therapists names to find one that fits your style. 😊

      it's because massage therapy is regulated as a health profession in Ontario under the CMTO, whereas in Quebec it is not (hence why you don't really tip the RMT in Ontario) :)@@ZoePritchard
