- There's still this damaged chicken coop we want to remove. We finally tackle that task, leading to a near accident when part of the inner ceiling collapses. We get some professional help tearing down this structure safely.
We are Lex and Marianne. On this channel we are sharing our story about renovating a 230 year old neglected and abandoned half-timbered (fachwerk) farmhouse in Germany. Our goal is to turn it into a beautiful, comfortable, ecological, debt-free, sustainable and self-sufficient homestead. And we have no building experience. Great! What could go wrong?

For your convenience we have compiled a playlist of our farmhouse renovation videos: • Year 1 - Old Farmhouse...

It's great that you guys had such a big help with the demolition. Lex you seem to have become a pro excavator operator in the meantime.👍 I can't wait for your next video. Take care of yourselves! 😊
Thanks 🙏. Great to see my talents recognized 😎. L.
The chicken coop certainly needed to be removed. The barn(s) behind it which you are using as a workshop appear much older - I guess you're keeping and restoring them (it looks like there was another extension to the main building besides the chicken coop - that bit that had so much water damage in the roof). You are making progress!
We are definitely keeping the Big Barn. Indeed, the other extension will one day be our bbq space (garden kitchen). We will soon fix that water damage, and for the short term use that space for materials storage. The big barn is one giant space inside, but it looks like the back part ( where those extensions were built against) was built much later. Still we call it a single barn.
Thanks!
You need to use the digger to help load up the old bricks.
Thanks for the tip, watching and commenting! L.
Great work! Thank you for such a lovely video, it's inspired me to do a lot of good things!
Thank you!
Great job! Maybe wear a mask?
Thank you! You're 100% right. We wore helmet and eye protection when working inside the coop, but no mask. We should have. L.
