Never thought about the little flasks for hot drinks I always just used them for cold water. Good tip, just goes to show we can all learn something from everyone we meet.👍
Beavercraft I 'm in. Good stuff Neil. For carrying hot water I use a large Stanley vacuum bottle with the Stanley coffee cup ( steel spill proof lid) . I fill the larger one with boiling water before I leave camp/home. Then when I need a hot drink I fill the coffee cup with the water and add whatever I want to drink....good for two refills. I have both wrapped with hockey tape, to make them easier to handle in the winter. Yes I am a Canadian.
Beavercraft , I'm in. . Hi Neil , Your videos have inspired me to get back out into the local mountains and woodlands with my family. It's always good to see your videos.
Fantastic tips! I paid $20 for a Thermarest Z-Seat but they can go for as much as $35 here, no need! Those garden pads you show can be had for $1-$4 dollars at a dollar store; or use an old piece of closed cell sleeping pad. Contractor bags aka bin liners, or just plain old trash bags won't provide much insulation but will protect you from wet ground. My tip if you can buy it in your country is to use regular Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment in a tube. It is made for lips but I found it of great help back when my thumb tips used to split in the dry winter. Sure it stung, but it help heal the split much quicker.
Beavercraft I'm in. I guess I'm over 18 now, since I was born 1967 😆 And I am also really fond of these outdoor videos of yours. I do love outdoors and spend a lot of time in the forests of Finland (forests are my favorite place). Thank you for your tips for an old timer like myself. I think I know lots of things you teach, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded how some things should be made. Thank you Neil again!
Beavercraft, I'm in, and definitely old enough. I could particularly relate to the moisturizing idea. Many 'blokes' tend to steer away from such 'girliness' but I have found it to be very important. If you ever fancy trying some proper cold weather in Norway, drop me a line. Today has been a balmy -5. Last Wednesday was a bracing -29. It's not for everybody, but I find it just incredible. The invite is real. Thanks again.
I’m in! I have a couple of pairs of the British army issue liner gloves, cheap as chips, the wrists are nice and long covering all the way over one’s wrists, and the have grippy dots over the palm and fingers and thumb, combined with the German army leather gloves, absolutely brilliant combination. Gaiters are a must have.
Beavercraft, I'm in! Great video, I've recently bought a pair of cheap foam workman's kneepads and they're amazing, so light, comfortable and save the old knees from cold, wet and hard rocks and roots. Loving your content!
Beavercraft I'm in! Always great to see your work, I don’t get in the wood as much as I like, so I sometimes live vicariously through you and a few other Brit Bush crafters, cheers from the states. .
Beavercraft l’m in. I’ve used a small thermos for years. It has a pour thru stopper and use the cap for a cup. Has worked well especially if you preheat it before filling with your brew. Another great vid. Thanks
Beavercraft I'm in. Those bottles are a great purchase, got a couple of them and they seal well and certainly do keep drinks or water warm for a decent amount of time.
BeaverCraft. I'm in. Thank you for all you do and pass along as many really need to know all the skills that can be taught. Bravo! Merry CHRISTmas also!!~
Beavercraft I'm in .... just bought the AX1 and it's a great little axe for the price ... great video with sound advice ... for hot drinks I tend to use up to 3 lifeventure thermal mugs so I only have to brew up every 3rd cuppa ... they pack well (no handle) and keep drinks hot for at least 6 hours .... 8 at a stretch ... cheers folks
